The Curse Of Millhaven
I was listening to I Can't Make It On Time (Digitally Remastered) and I noticed that they aren't a Punk band, but Glam Rock.

That'll be all.

I made a thread once about the origins of punk. Punk is a relative term.

I believe that I concluded in that thread, by the criteria laid out by the experts on this music board:

that Elvis Presley was actually the first punk artist. Sounds crazy, but when all the criteria was laid out for what made punk: punk. He had all the qualities listed.

They said themselves that the big kick in the pants for them came from Slade & Glitter.
I don't really hear it in this song though.

Rock N Roll High School is callsic. watched that as a kid. Of all the punk bands, they the only one i like. by which i mean the few songs i know oftheirs i enjoyed quite a bit. If i never hear another sex pistols song b4 i die it wont be too soon. the way these nerds go on about these idiots every VH 1 greatest album/band/song countdown, and i'm like, no one give a fuck. i'm gald they took it to Thatcher or The Queen or whoever. rad.

I hear more Phil Spector and Ronettes in their melodies.

The case can be made for Glam being a big influence on them. To me, they were the ultimate Garage revivalists.

i believe the ramones were punk. they were the ones who first got labeled punk, anyways.

so i guess that if the ramones are punk, then punk ain't punk.

and that's quite true.

Well that would make sense, Phil Spector produced that album (End of the Century).

I hate the "what is punk" debates. They're stupid. People confuse "punk rock" and the "punk ethos." The punk ethos has existed for centuries. Mozart probably subscribed to the punk ethos. Punk Rock and the punk scene didn't exist until the 70's. Period. Yeah you can argue that other bands influenced punk, but there's a difference between influencing punk rock and playing punk rock.
