The other thread is already 6 pages long and has tons of erroneous info. Thought it'd be nice to have a new thread for official stuff. If not, I will try to rebound with a better thread idea later.

Wheres Beck dammit He was supposed to play last year to. I hope they add Beck to the lineup. Looking at this lineup What do you think the three headliners are. I say Chilli Peppers one night
Wilco a night and I guess Flaming Lips

Replying to this thread, since you ask..

I'm "OFFICIALLY" not going. cool.gif

Have fun kids. I can't say I find any of this inspiring a need to blow the kinda bucks that they're asking for.

I thought it was Chili Peppers Wilco and Kanye according to that press release
or maybe I'm just reading it differently.

still another 40 bands to announce so hopefully beck is on there since it was mentioned that he was on some radio show the other night.

It looks to me like a pretty ambitious lineup. I mean, the Lips, Sonic Youth, Ween, those aren't exactly big-time mainstream acts. I can't imagine a lot of casual music fans who get all their info from Red Eye will look at that lineup and say wow. It works for me, I just wonder how it'll do without a Tom Petty or a Radiohead on top.

Yeah I am very update to date on new music of many different geners and I dont recognize about 20 of these bands. I just bought my ticket. Hopefully Beck is added and maybe 1 or 2 other big headline acts like Strokes or Franz
amotin
Of all the bands I was hoping would be on there (Radiohead, Wolf Parade, Morrissey, Franz, Futureheads, etc) I think the one I'll miss the most is Arcade Fire. sad.gif
solace
they're too busy recording album #2, leave them be wink.gif

as for the headliners... does anyone really care TOO much about who headlines giant festivals? not like you're gonna go just for the biggest bands really imo. Festivals are great for seeing a lot of bands you don't normally get to see often in one place and checking out smaller/unheard of bands.

I figure you guys might laugh at the prospect of bonnaroo, but it's lineup is looking even sweeter than Lollapalooza:

Radiohead
Beck
Sonic Youth
Death Cab
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Tom Petty
Elvis Costello
Ben Folds
My Morning Jacket
Cat Power
Gomez
Steve Earle
Stephen Malkmus
Son Volt
Seu Jorge
Andrew Bird
Les Claypool
Bright Eyes
Neville Brothers
Bonnie Raitt
Buddy Guy

AND every hippie band you could ever imagine.

I was hoping for Wolf Parade or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! but I love the lineup - RHCP, Lips, Wilco (even though I hate Wilco), Kayne, Common, Raconteurs..........kick arse.

I counted 83 bands on the lolla site so that means 47 acts will be added hopefully that means Beck and Morrissey since they both have been rumored heaviley

I just plopped down 300 for a pair. I figured I was gonna go anyway and I didn't want to see the prices go up [again] before getting my passes.

I'm anxiously [understatement] awaiting the rest of the lineup...

No one's laughing brah. I'm a big champion of all things Roo, so search out my lonely Bonnaroo thread. That said, I think the Lolla lineup is absotootly incredible and probably more appropriate for the SOMB crowd with the limited jam representation. biggrin.gif

Some amazing bands that I have yet to see live: Eels, Racantours, Lips, Kanye West, Secret Machines, Andrew Bird. To me, the lineup looks amazing but my Red Eye reading friends have a different take on it.

that could be the worst lineup i have ever seen. i only heard 5 of the 60 bands.

i want to see wilco, kanye, and bluestraveler play back to back to back and then i will go home and get away from the rest of you hippies. maybe i would stick around for common, matishyau, and umphree mcgee. maybe not.

i would only see those 3 and maybe ryan adams. those other bands i dont know any songs and i would be damned if i supported flea

Uncle Remus
I think the lineup is pretty damn impressive. I cannot, cannot wait for this.

But yeah, I'm really, really stoked.

gonna have a hard time passing it up this year, specially for that pre-sale price.

i really hope w/ both Calexico & Iron & Wine there they can maybe get a collaborative set too, cuz that tour didn't come to Minneapolis.

tell them that there is no way that you could possibly cover 140 bands by yourself and that we need a whole fleet of Static writers to properly cover the event. lol. but i hope they at least get you in.

_______
does anyone know if you can buy single day passes?
Uncle Remus
hitchcock: I will do that. I want to ensure getting more access to the festival grounds, too.

simakos: no word on that yet.

Kanye, in Grant Park, is going to be bananas, b-a-n-a-n-a-s.

This is a very solid lineup, but the question is.....is it worth it given last year's experience?

It seems a bit crowded and uncomfortable from opinions I heard last year.

Uncle Remus
what's weird is that the big press conference may not have happened yet. I've been sick all damn week and am out of sorts, in all honesty and may have just missed the damn thing.

Last year was a great experience, nosmoke.

the uncomfortability factor was the oppressive heat, which no one can control.

When you say crowded, do you mean band-wise or people? Because there was a lot of room to move.

The only real gripe was the sound bleeding in the middle of the field, but if you moved a little bit closer to whatever stage you wanted to be on, it wasn't a problem.
Mr. Sinistro
Blues Traveler has to be a joke.

I was not crowded at all last year. It was very easy to move from stage to stage. The only thing that sucked last year was the heat.
Mr. Sinistro
Someone on the Chicagoist blog has stated that it's actually a better lineup than Coachella.
