Street Scene is no longer a street scene either. Isn't it taking place these days on the concrete parking lot of Petco Field? When it was street scene it was cool. A different stage on each street with two of the main stages in this open area near some intersection. I went one year and loved it. I won't go now that it takes place in a parking lot. That's how they ruined Weed Fest in Chicago back in the day. It went from Cricket Hill to Soldier Field parking lot. It was terrible.

I think you are right. Hopefully that is also the case with Beck and Morrissey. I think the lineup is in need of a couple of more headliners and Beck the strokes and morrissey would fit the bill

fine call me a baby.....but lets pretend Lollapalooza consisted of this lineup:
The Chemical Brothers
Underworld
Fatboy Slim
Daft Punk
Basement Jaxx
The Prodigy
AIR
Groove Armada
Apollo 440
Aphex Twin
Lo-Fidelity Allstars
The Crystal Method
Coldcut
Audio Bullys
UNKLE
Fischerspooner
Kraftwerk
Vitalic
Amon Tobin
....and all the rest of the electronical/dance groups out there
one sided lineup, is it not? would you or the rest of the people in here be happy with this lineup?.......probably not........do you kinda get my point?
and its not only the electronic artists, there's really no good Hip-Hop artists either (Kanye sucks the big one)
what i would like to see, is what how Coachella has their lineup....it has a little bit of everything
and as for the 60-70 artists that are remaining to be added, i highly doubt Lollapalooza will now all of a sudden start adding highly saught out electronic artists or hip hop artists. You'll most likely see more Indie rock bands added and washed up Beck, and the over hyped White Stripes.
I hope Lollapalooza proves me wrong. But it doesnt look promising.

looking at the list on the postcard i got w/ my ticket today, i'll say that the hip hop lineup isn't nearly as bad as he was making it sound. electronic music, fine. but you know they'll have plenty of that announced eventually.

do you realize that Electronic fans aren't nearly as numbered as rock fans?? anyone who is surprised that the lineup is predominantly some form of rock music is delusional imo. Lolla's always been a rock festival first and foremost, but usually brings in some of the best from every genre as well.

of course i realize that.......but does it hurt to higlight a major electronic artist?
also might i add....its rare for major electronic groups, such as many of those groups that i listed above in my other post, to ever play live in the united states. So it would be nice to see at large festivles, such as Lollapalooza, to recruit these rare, occasional, live acts.
All I am saying..........Is give Electronic music a chance .............................

Groove Armada at Park West a few years ago was nothing less than amazing! If they were at Lolla it would be seriously hot. Manu Chao though! I'd love to see a more diverse lineup come August, but c'mon, this type of event in our wonderful city is just awesome, no matter who is there! Also, Kanye is a fun act live. He was impressive at the HOB for the College tour.

Not to belabor what Bosco is saying, but he does have a point. It does strike me as odd that Lolla won't have any major electronic acts not only this year, but none last year as well. For some reason, it appears the organizers are totally ignoring the genre - I have no idea why. Contrast this with Coachella which has Daft Punk, Oakenfold, Massive Attack, Juan MacLean, etc.. and years past has had Underworld, the Chems, Autechre, Aphex Twin, , Kraftwerk, the Orb....the list goes on.
Lolla is also completely void of anything post-rock either. I'm guessing they could have easily landed bands like Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Mono, etc. No such luck (for me).

The Congress is pretty ideal. $109 a night, can get two double beds. I gotta say it took a lot of effort to walk to the train each night, take the train ride home, drive home, try to sleep, then drag myself out of bed, to get back to the train, walk back to Grant Park in 100+ degrees and then back again. It would make more sense to just stay put and share a room with someone for the weekend.
Plus I could most likely drive in, park and then drive home.

I would think the Strokes and BTS are in. Last year there were bands (one example being the Kaiser Chielfs) that they had to take off the initail list because they were playing shows in Chicago before Lolla, and they didn't want that to affect sales. Strokes are playing in early April, and I think BTS was scheduled before they cancelled their tour.
The Strokes is probably their one big name addition though, I would not hold my breath on any more. But, then again, what do I know.

Agreed on the impacting the sales of other show and all, but the Strokes show sold out, so it couldn't have any impact really on the sale of that show at this point. But whatever, if the Strokes are there, I'll be seeing them but again.
