I'm going to an annual pie party in West Seattle. I wanna bring the hostess a mix of songs about pie, cake, candy, deserts, diners, etc.

I'm pretty sure he can speak for himself, but last I heard, EM didn't live here anymore.

"MacArthur Park"- Donna Summer..."someone left the cake out in the rain..."

"Candy Jail"- Silver Jews

and even though it's a kids song Ralph Covert's "Peggy's Pie Parlour Polka" is infectious...as perfect a song for a pie event as I can think of.

Black Juju- Alice Cooper

Great song about eating too much candy and having to go to the dentist to get a tooth pulled.

Good call but I'd go with the original by Richard Harris. So beautifully over the top.

I haven't - is there a link?

Thanks, everyone, for all the great ideas. Sadly, my Internet at home went down shortly before I was gonna buy a lot of those songs on iTunes, and I can't download any software on my work laptop, so I made the mix with what I already had on hand. Track listing:

PIE MIX
1. Key Lime Pie - Kenny Chesney
2. Cherry Pie - Warrant
3. Custard Pie - Led Zeppelin
4. Banana Puddin' - Southern Culture on the Skids
5. Porcupine Pie - Neil Diamond
6. Rhubarb Pie - John Fogerty
7. Candy Man - Roy Orbison
8. Fat Cakes - Jimmy McGriff
9. Candy Everybody Wants - 10,000 Maniacs
10. Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
11. Marshmallow World - Darlene Love
12. Ice Cream Man - Tom Waits
13. Wild Honey Pie - the Beatles
14. Savoy Truffle - the Beatles
15. Rock Candy - Montrose
16. Sugar Never Tasted So Good - the White Stripes
17. Candyman - Cornershop
18. Sweet Thistle Pie - Cracker
19. Chocolate - Snow Patrol
20. Popsicle - Talking Heads
21. Chocolate Town - Ween
22. Sugar Kane - Sonic Youth
ericmaloney
p.s. just kidding about Kenny Chesney. Track 1 is I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) by the Four Tops.
Mantana
Smashing Pumpkins - Chocolate Wave/Fudge Overboard
ericmaloney
How did I miss that Pumpkins song? God dammit! Funny.

At the moment, my girlfriend is at the pie party while I sit at home with a sprained back. The mix was my contribution, and I was happy enough with it that it may be a couple changes away from being one of those mixes that you re-distribute.

Most importantly, thanks again everyone for all the awesome ideas. When my home Internet gets going again, I'm gonna buy a lot of those songs.
