Yesterday, one of the delegates said Palin would be a great VP because 'she had five kids, and anyone who's a mother of five could handle managing 50 states.'
I guess we should start looking at welfare moms for public office or something. That lady with sixteen kids could rule the universe, most likely.

Actual excerpt from Romney's speech tonight:
QUOTE
We need change all right -- change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington -- throw out the big government liberals and elect John McCain.
I should be used to and expect these kinds of Republican statements that represent the opposite of reality. But I'm still completely baffled and flabbergasted.

Probably b/c they're always amzed that anyone can actually buy into the horseshit they're selling. I think all Republicans walk around knowing at some level that, sooner or later, someone's gonna say, "Wait a minute..." and their house of cards is gonna get dumped off the table, never to be built again.

This is kind of the point, though, isn't it? The obvious solution to a big, activist government is to burrow inside and wreck it, which the RNC has been doing quite effectively ever since Reagan.
To me, the real question is how do these guys get to define patriotism when casual conversation with them makes it clear that not only do they hate our government but in many respects the country itself?
Opportunism - that's all the conservative ethos is about. If Canada announced tomorrow it was decimating its healthcare system in order to slash taxes to the bone and legalizing concealed-carry, most of the RNC would have houses in Calgary the day after.

Your obvious solution, was the obvious answer I was referring to.
The Republican party is like some skanky bitch with the clap. Our country keeps going back for more, because we just can't say no to that wacky poon. It sounds fucking great and god knows it LOOKS ok on the surface. I mean, it's well groomed and all. There doesn't seem to be a bunch of homeless folks or gays hanging around her, like that Democratic bitch. So the country decides that it'll give it a shot, though it's definitely not going to blow a load in her -- oh, oh, oh -- but it does, because it feels so right. Then we've got some knocked up Republican party, calling at all hours of the day, asking us to do a bunch of crazy shit that we really didn't see coming. The country's dick starts turning all green and starts kicking itself -- it should have known better -- we've been through this before -- when will we fucking learn?!? Then the country goes crawling back to the left and begging forgiveness.
