these people are so robotic. It's fucking unbelievable. They all have telepromters up their asses. when asked a question they get a buzz that prompts them all to recite the same exact words.

Yesterday, one of the delegates said Palin would be a great VP because 'she had five kids, and anyone who's a mother of five could handle managing 50 states.' huh.gif

I guess we should start looking at welfare moms for public office or something. That lady with sixteen kids could rule the universe, most likely.

Oh cmon, like the Dems weren't the exact same way? It was so pathetic when Biden was trying to get a repetitive chant going with the crowd of "THAT'S NOT CHANGE, THAT'S MORE OF THE SAME!"

Certainly, but I think it's fair to say the Democrats are more excited about their candidate than the Republicans are about theirs.

Actual excerpt from Romney's speech tonight:
QUOTE
We need change all right -- change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington -- throw out the big government liberals and elect John McCain.

I should be used to and expect these kinds of Republican statements that represent the opposite of reality. But I'm still completely baffled and flabbergasted.

Romney's speech tonight is going to kill. I've heard this from several people at the RNC. They're quite blown away. The guy probably would have been the best possible pick for VP...

Anyway, don't you remember the speech he gave on religion several months ago? That speech will go down as one of the definitive statements as to why religion is essential to the survival of our democracy.

Probably b/c they're always amzed that anyone can actually buy into the horseshit they're selling. I think all Republicans walk around knowing at some level that, sooner or later, someone's gonna say, "Wait a minute..." and their house of cards is gonna get dumped off the table, never to be built again.

Not a huge surprise, actually. Mr. Freeman lives not far from here, and this state is soooooo conservative. Regardless of traditional racial party affiliation, you give a guy a couple of ranches, a house in Jamaica, a yacht and all kinds of money and you get a guy who votes for the man wo won't raise his taxes.

Mittens is spouting off all the typical crazy bullshit that makes one wonder why someone who hates the US government so much, would want to control it? Once everyone asks this question and comes up with the obvious answer, a light bulb should flick on, heat up, and blow their fucking brains out.

For a while I'd say you were right ( low excitement level for the ticket ) but, with Sarah Palin on board -- it's getting a lot more interesting -- when Fred Thompson quoted Obama's knowledge of when life begins " that's above my pay grade " the place freaked out. -- You guys may really dislike Palin, but she's made this a much more interesting race. She was such an unexpected choice. I don't think she will only appeal to social conservatives/religious types --- I'm looking forward to her speech in about an hour -- the media seems to be in a feeding frenzy right now -- on CNN they've got a clock on screen counting down the time until she speeks --- should be interesting.

This is kind of the point, though, isn't it? The obvious solution to a big, activist government is to burrow inside and wreck it, which the RNC has been doing quite effectively ever since Reagan.

To me, the real question is how do these guys get to define patriotism when casual conversation with them makes it clear that not only do they hate our government but in many respects the country itself?

Opportunism - that's all the conservative ethos is about. If Canada announced tomorrow it was decimating its healthcare system in order to slash taxes to the bone and legalizing concealed-carry, most of the RNC would have houses in Calgary the day after.

Your obvious solution, was the obvious answer I was referring to.

The Republican party is like some skanky bitch with the clap. Our country keeps going back for more, because we just can't say no to that wacky poon. It sounds fucking great and god knows it LOOKS ok on the surface. I mean, it's well groomed and all. There doesn't seem to be a bunch of homeless folks or gays hanging around her, like that Democratic bitch. So the country decides that it'll give it a shot, though it's definitely not going to blow a load in her -- oh, oh, oh -- but it does, because it feels so right. Then we've got some knocked up Republican party, calling at all hours of the day, asking us to do a bunch of crazy shit that we really didn't see coming. The country's dick starts turning all green and starts kicking itself -- it should have known better -- we've been through this before -- when will we fucking learn?!? Then the country goes crawling back to the left and begging forgiveness.

Man. A two bitch system just ain't what it should be.
