Re: "Write the Night"

Since I wasn't in Chicago for Pitchfork this year (as opposed to being around and not going because I don't like/know most of these bands until September every year), I wasn't following the concept that closely. I know there was online voting for what songs fans wanted to hear, but was it ever said that this would make up the entire setlist?

And I think in theory, this concept would work much better in terms of a band's own headlining show and not at a festival. Wilco started to do fan requests online for their headlining shows a couple of years ago and having looked at the results for shows that I was going to, they were in tune with what a fan who had seen multiple shows would probably want to see/hear (not that the band followed those results to a T. It was probably more useful for them to fill in the slots in their show that change from night to night and aren't the songs that they're always going to play). Of course, since my understanding of how Pitchfork did this at the festival is that everyone who bought tickets was able to go vote, it probably makes sense that a large portion of the crowd who might not be Flaming Lips or Yo La Tengo or whoever superfans, but would still want to see them in concert would end up voting for the "hits" and things they would have gotten anyway.

Did everyone see the TLC match last Monday with Flair and Edge? I really wasn't expecting much because Edge was coming off an injury from a couple months ago and Flair is 56-ish years old, but damn was it impressive. After Edge took the bumb to the table on the floor and Flair was climbing the ladder, the part of me that knows how the business works basically turned off and I really thought that Flair had a shot a winning. Of course, when Lita came in an grabbed him it didn't surprise me at all, but it was nice that at least for a short time there could be the same "anything can happen" mentalitly that I had when I first started watching about 8 years ago.

As you can see we are getting close to the blurb stage, I have 12 in so far so we have a long way to go. I'd like them by August 15th in order that I don't get held up by not getting any. A #6 seed is a 4 point favorite over a #1 seed? That seems fishy. Seems to me that Vegas is just begging people to take Seattle. I won't make that mistake.

Seattle had the easiest strength of schedule in the entire NFL this year. They're about to be exposed.

Pittsburgh has the most effective 3-4 defense in the league - they blitz linebackers from multiple angles (just ask Plummer and Manning). Seattle faced only one 3-4 defense this year - against Dallas. In that game against Dallas, the Seattle offfense struggled the entire game (they finally won 13-10 by scoring 10 points in the final 40 seconds). I look for Pittsburgh to jam 9 and 10 men schemes at the line of scrimmage (to contain Alexander) and bump Seattle's non-physical receivers. I look for Pittsburgh's defense to be the critical factor in this game.

One other fact : Outside of their home field, Seattle did not beat 1 team this year with a record above .500. I like my chances with Pittsburgh who just knocked off Cincinnati, Denver, and Indy - all on the road.

Pittsburgh 27
Seattle 10

Ghost of a Thousand - This Is Where The Fight Begins

More hardcore than metal but certainly deserves a mention. Pretty lively, inventive and most importantly, brilliant music.

And now, our 'best persons in the world'. Today's goofballs and good guys are all wrapped up into one zany lady from Chicago. Her name: Gena. And she appears to be stalking me
.
Gena or Forgo as she's been known for the past few years may not be familiar to most of our viewers but to the loyal boarders at the 'Sound Opinions Message Board' or SOMB for short, Ms. Forgo is anything but forgotten.

She roams the streets of Chicago, carefully avoiding any cracks, yearning for those days back east where life was better as a New Yorker. Or was it? After all, Aneg or Thrillho, as she was also known at various times, seems to think the whooooole of mankind is out to get her.

Granted it is difficult to remain discreet, what with her very large breasts and freakish freckles. But one would best be advised to cross the street and avoid the menstrual wrath of this raging woman.

And to the rumor that Ms. Forgo and her 'boyfriend' were recently in Cleveland where fellow SOMB member Rob Gordon provocatively propositioned them well we asked Mr. Gordon about the accusation to which he replied 'no comment'.

(Olbermann tosses papers into the air as the song "I've Never Been To Me" by Charlene ramps up I've been undressed by kings
