Today's an election day too (in Illinois at least.) Don't waste it.

Already done voted.

Done...and done.

So what does the non-partisan ballot look like? I grabbed a democratic one out of habit, but really didn't have any interest in anything in particular. I left half of the thing blank.

You can vote for candidates like Herman Munster, Wolfman Jack, L'il Orphan Annie, and, of course, Lyndon LaRouche.

I went democratic- more people to vote against there. plus, really wanted to vote for Claypool.

When I went to vote the mummified remains of what was once a woman asked me if I wanted to vote "old fashioned" or electronically. I chose electronically and she said "well, you'll be our first". Right then I knew "old fashioned" was the way I would eventually vote.

That was sort of a tempest in a teapot. His medical records and doctor were at Rush.

I hope he doesn't win, though.

Gotta admit, if I were in Cook County I don't think I could vote for him. His replacement would be appointed, and that's never a great prospect.

I don't know enough about him to say whether I would have voted for him prior to the stroke or not.

I just hope nobody votes for Oberweis. If he's ever elected, I'm moving to Wisconsin.

read the paper much? This guys a do-nothing old school machine style politico- his juvenile detention center is basically a case study in how not to run that type of facility, and his payrolls are stuffed with do nothing cronies, which you pay for with your taxes.

but yeah, he's old, so I guess he should win. dry.gif

pretty ho-hum, but the school referendum was the main reason I voted in this primary

negro, i've got a conference tomorrow, a webcast on thursday and follow-up work on friday. unless we do lunch today, it'll have to wait until next week.

sin, sidenote to the news thing... i was doing a red eye crossword puzzle at my parents' house a while ago. my dad walked in and said, "reading that will make you stupid." i explained that i only get it for the crossword and sudoku and that i read the sun times paper and cnn and bbc online for more news. he rolled his eyes and i swear he was disgusted with me for the remainder of my visit. as he was giving me the evil eye, i thought of you in 25 years. laugh.gif wink.gif

Yeah, he's got the personality of a cheese grater. And he's not a good guy -- I could tell you stories. More importantly (for election purposes) he's an inept businessman and has NO political experience. He just wants to hold office. He has run for three different offices in the last three elections. That's a pretty big warning sign that he's in it for the wrong reasons. I've never met anybody that has known him for any period of time that likes him.

And if that's not enough, he used to be fat!!!

Hell, you know the fix is in when not only the mayor, both senators and one ex-president are out spinning this guy as the patron saint. There's no doubt he's part of the machine. Problem is, Claypool is no better. You seen any improvements in the Park District? I hear more about them fucking up every long time neighborhood program one after another. In addition, they've been scurrying around messing with stuff that belonged to other organizations. The only reason this one club got their gear back in Humble Park was because one of the members worked for the Lt Gov. !!! Strogers raised taxes now about four times and I pretty much can bet he's not gonna be able to hold the seat. However, the Dems just need him to win the primary so they can choose a successor. Oddly enough there is a write-in option but I didn't have a clue who a alternate option is. You'd think an independent could kill by merely suggesting that if you think the party candidates suck just write me in.

So second to choosing between the options of dumb and dumber. The absolute worst is voting for judges. There's no real way to measure who stands on what ground unless you're willing to do a tremendous amount of research. There's the published info on those that the bar recommends but by no means do you have any sense how this person behaves in the courts. It has to be the ugliest part of the electoral process.

Last year at the Lake County fair I bumped into him, literally. He turned around and said, "Hi. I'm Jim Oberweis, and I'm running for govenor of Illinois." He stuck out his hand.

I looked at his hand like it was rotting meat. "How very nice for you. Tell me, do you find it difficult to be at the fair with all of these Hispanics around?" (About 70% of Lake County Fair attendance is Hispanic.)

He turned away and didn't say anything to me after that.

I think you must have been reading my mind. laugh.gif Not to defend the asswipe but he did note that he hired an outside contractor who sub-contracted their contract and thus really didn't know about it and being the racist prick that he is. I believe that he wouldn't have them wiping his floors
when he's rather have them all deported.

I've enjoyed his ice cream in the past but for someone like him who continually rubs me the wrong way. I get further and further away from wanting to ever give this guy a dime of my money.
