Pretty little things....

I know...you guys are all out celebrating, right? Because birds are important!

But I dont need to tell you guys that....

What kind of bird is that, Andy? And does it chirp a lot?

A few years ago I moved into a new office and a couple days later noticed the liquidamber trees outside my window were filled with these little yellow chirpy birds--dozens of them. The next day they were gone, and didn't return in subsequent years. I tried to identify them in my National Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Birds: Western Region but no luck.

Andy, don't get your hopes up: even though everyone says they taste like chicken, they really don't.

Yesterday the field by my work was full of robin's. I also saw some of the herons have come back.

thats a common yellowthroat. its a type of warbler. its call is kinda like...."whichity whichity whichity whichity witch"

and its probably a little bit smaller than that picture would suggest, if there were normal sized hands holding it. i have tiny little monkey paws.

I wonder what the chick I became friends with in Scotsdale for Spring Break in '00 is doing now. She had a great tree frog tattoo on her hip.

I have a few distant shots of those when I used to be really into nature photography.
