Count the number of beats for 30 seconds, then multiply that number by 2 to get the beats per minute. Or count the number of beats for 15 seconds, then multiply by 4 to get the beats per minute. If you are taking your pulse during exercise, you may count the beats for only 10 seconds and multiply by 6.
Resting heart rate

74. And I'm an Air-Conditioned Athlete. Having a cousin who works for Nike counts as being an Athlete, right?

I can't feel my pulse... weird.

press lightly just to the outside of the wrist tendon that runs to your thumb, about 3/4" to an inch from where the chuff of your thumb meets the wrist.

You ride your bike to work, right? You're probably in better shape than somb keyboard athletes half your age.

I rode my bike to work today for the first time in over a month. Between the Flu, winter rain, and going to Chicago & Vegas in February this is the second time I've ridden my bike since the beginning of Feb.

If you count swimming 50 yards without breathing then yes.

There was a time when it was averaging 30 which is just f'd up no matter what
shape your in.

fyi. I'm an Iron Swimmer. I've already completed in every event in short course yard competition and after four more events at state I'll have done them all twice. (36 total)
No personal bests though. Having the bambino leaves my training in the gutter.
This is also not the most I've done either. Back in 2000 I did every race three times.

damn, that's crazier than mine. it's always been unnaturally low, and when i was in top shape in college (running 90-110 miles/week), i counted as low as 27 once. i've never averaged 30 though!

Had a neighbor who rode his bike 35-50 miles/day, & whose pulse was in about that range. He gave his doctor a scare the first time he took his pulse, lol.

i've done that! when i got my wisdom teeth taken out, they put the IV in me before they put the pulse thingy on my finger. so they stick the needle in my arm, and i pass out, because i always do. before i 'wake' back up, they put the pulse thing on and it's registering in the low 30's. the nurse/dental assistant lady had the phone in her hand and was ready to call the paramedics when they realized i was awake. she says, "oh my god?! are you ok?" i had no idea anything was wrong, i just said, "yeah, i feel fine. what's up?"
thrillho
you guys, i've said for months that yancy is a robot. now everyone is catching on.
