so will this break the 8.x mark on Pfork? it should, but considering they only gave PP a 7.2, i could see it getting like a 7.7-8.9.
def more like an 8.3+ record tho
solace, i love you, but who cares what pitchfork is gonna do? i don't.

'Thy Will Be Done' is may be the best thing Dan Boeckner has ever done.
And that's saying a whole lot.

Taking this to a new page because the naughty-naughty HF pic is HUGE, and takes forever to load.
Got my tickets to the Empty Bottle show this morning. Given my past experience with Handsome Furs in live performance, I'm looking forward to this show more than anything else on my calendar.
Face Control is all good, but "Radio Kaliningrad" is my jam of the moment. Can't get enough of it.

Mine too. That song fuckin rules. It's gotta be the busiest HF song to date but it works to say the least. Been killing that one all day.

yeah, i've been listening to this almost nonstop the past few days with a few pauses here and there for some different albums
i actually forwarded my dad 'Im Confused' earlier and he dug it surprisingly. followed it up by sending him 'Thy Will be Done' just now. i patiently await his response and feelings (i sent him a youtube clip of it...i am curious how he takes it now that he sees its a guy and some chick twisting knobs and not some full-blown band).
and while 'Radio Kaliningrad' is a five-star affair, it's still not as great as 'Thy Will be Done.' that song is where it's at.

love this record, but was just struck with the idea of how amazing this could be if he ditched the beats and had an actual swampy little rhythm section behind him on these songs... there is a strong americana roots vibe going on here that could have been exploited a lot more.

your opinions have been duly noted, sim.
random spirit lover's been my favorite wp member release (including the wp albums) and i generally adore krug, but there's no denying that boekner's got the stronger voice (and all around presence). all my favorite songs on mt. zoomer were his (especially the classic rock moments), and the prospect of a "Springsteen-meets-bleep-bloop" album is mighty enticing.

I'm curious about what you think makes a quintessential rock voice?
Overuse of voice breaks / cracking (what I called yodeling up there) or constantly being off-pitch (a la Matt from Matt & Kim) bug the crap out of me and will pretty much make an album unlistenable. I guess you could call them pet peeves... oh well.
