fuck cavemen. i can't wait for this. too long since the understanding.

this fine, fine album finally leaked. this has been stuck in my head for a while now, but been waiting for a copy to call my own. one of my favorite albums of the year so far.
Minutes Late
Such a fine bounce back after the last dud. This might be better than the debut. Such great production, and better integration of eurodisco vocalists.

Date: 23.03.2009
Label: EMI / Wall of Sound / Astralwerks
Style: Downbeat, Trip Hop
Playtime: 00:50:55

Norwegian duo Röyksopp are set to release the follow-up to 2005's The Understanding. Entitled Junior, the album will feature guest vocals from Swedish pop princesses Lykke Li and Robyn. Previous collaborators Anneli Drecker (Bel Canto) and Karin Dreijer Andersson (The Knife) also lend their voices to the project.

SNAP...!!!
Liffey
Downloading now. I liked Understanding a bit better than the debut, so hopefully I'll still like this pretty well...

Awesome! Can't wait to hear this. Love the single/video.

thanks rabbi. i nearly lost my shit when i saw that book for the first time. was dumbfounded that someone could publish that without pause.

anyhow, rabbi, this album is great, but the dream's new album is giving it some serious competition. you should give that one a shot too.
RabbiSchmoiley
I take it you're referring to the somewhat dirty use of "Scat" in the title, right? Because the book itself is pretty solid... gotta love the new trend in children's publishing to shed light on some of jazz's greats.

Never heard of the Dream. Similar in sound to Royksopp, or something totally different? As for me, 2009 has been all Junior Boys so far.

EDIT: nm, just so Chrono's thread on the Dream... not really a R&B person, but I'll give it a shot.

yeah, i guess i'm just a sucker for a poop joke. the artwork in the book is cool and as a whole, it's pretty well done. but poor choice of title, at least for me.

the dream is a post t-pain singer-songwriter. guy who wrote rihanna's umbrella, among other songs. his new album is straight up gorgeous. layers of synths and unusual harmonies. it doesn't really sound like r&b at this point, it's so synthetic. but the album is warm and digitally lush and just about perfect. best album of its kind in i don't know how long. you could throw a song from that and from junior back to back on a mix and no one would bat an eye, but that's about as far as similarities go.

there's another thread for it on the top page with a download link. give it a shot.
Brominated
This album is phenomenal. "Tricky Tricky" is being played on repeat incessantly.
Bob Loblaw
Every link I've seen for this gets taken down pretty fast. I need this.
caley
I already have this, but in case anyone else was looking, here's a link that still works, unfortunately, it's depositfiles and I don't know the instructions.

If that doesn't work, I can up it later today.

Yes, I've been loving this the last 48 hours. To be determined if I'll care in a month, but for now, on repeat. That Tricky track with Karin is solid...
Vivian Darkbloom

Please do re-up ASAP. Loblaw and Darkbloom are hurting.
dbrigs
Junior!
cappacappa
robyn track is cool, the lykke li one is pretty generic.
Vivian Darkbloom

Thanks everyone. This is synthy poppy confectionary fun. It's no Melody AM, but I'm liking it so far.
Bleep Blop
liking this a lot halfway into it. Seems like they really frontloaded it with those first two tracks, though.
monotony
Man, "The Girl And The Robot" will not get out of my head.

Loving this album sick at the moment.

"Royksopp Forever!"

This album is a lot better than anticipated! And where is that tour to our neck of the woods?
ohyeah
yeah girl and the robot is fucking great. got it up with the-dreams walkin on the moon and and moderat's rusty nails in my best dance tunes of 09 playlist.

I remember the response to The Understanding being pretty positive.
KENAN THOMPSON
feelin this record, but ill be damned if royksopp's productions arent a little too busy sometimes
KENAN THOMPSON
thats why ewan pearson's remix of 49% is such a classic. dude stripped away all that excessive shit & just made it a straight house banger
Brainfeeder
Love this album.

"Royksopp Forever!"

it's pretty amazing that this song is so good when it's basically just strings and bass and like one synth line.

i'm listening to this album for the first time right now and really enjoying it.
dbrigs
A few months in, this one still receives a lot of plays. But my favorite is still the one with the strings!
monotony
This record certainly has one of the best one-two punches of the year, and I'd say that "The Girl and the Robot" would be in my top 10 singles of '09 at this point.

What's happening re: Senior, the follow up album?
Liffey
I'm partial to the one with Karin on vocals. All quite good though.
held
I'm a touch disappointed that there's no Chicago stop on the very abbreviated U.S. tour dates. Just the coasts.
