All things considered, I'm surprised it took this long. (Dollars to donuts that the next one will be Veruca's "Give it to me now")

So how long am I supposed to wait for some rapper to sample one of Bowie's songs from Labyrinth? Or Queen's "Theme From Flash"? Maybe if I'm lucky, Dane Cook can remind me of these things on his next album.
"REMEMBER LABYRINTH? ReMEMBER that? David Bowie BULGING out of his pants?"

Public Enemy did this back on
It takes a Nation . . . "Terminator X to the edge of Panic" - albeit only briefly at the beginning of the song.

That actually wasn't directed at you so much as it was a preemptive parody of the type of reaction that kind of statement usually garners around here.

This is the truth. Commercial hip hop has become like Nu-country or the hair metal from the 80's (before Cobain killed it off).

UNPACK THIS
'cynical' - not following you on this, 'gimmicky' maybe but when this song is this hot its not neccessarily a pejorative
'commercial' - yes, people pay for music. insightful.
'wannabe-thug' - ???? There is nothing 'thuggish' about the lyrics in this song
'hip-pop' - not a pejorative.

Yeah. Go back and read what I actually wrote (this isnt our first clash on these boards, so i know that this is a problem for you)
I said "cynically commercial"
Take the money out of the equation and this song doesnt exist.
Yes people pay for music. No I have no problem with that.
But this shit, except for a few nice touches is just rehashed PRODUCT.

That post *is* OTM. For some reason you just can't see it. Maybe your obsession with singles has ruined your musical ear.
Like Nu-Country and the late 80's/90's hair metal, commercial rap has become a parody of itself - no better than the other cheesy top 40 acts.

It's a fairly catchy song that I have forgotten about. popular rap/radio rap at least where I am is stale, recycled shite really though. it was a good idea (or bad idea, whoever you are) to sample willy wonka but they really didn't do anything with it. the lyrics are unseasoned but they try to fool you with a garnish. come on now.
and montana, your little "family guy" zingers are so stupid. How can you even think they are funny?
and is specificity a word?
