No word on a new album, no, but there's a new song out there.

Sounds to me like Voxtrot meets the Cure. Definately not quite up to the magic of the debut EPs but I'd take this over almost anything on the self titled album (and I still listen to that album every now and then).

That being said, maybe I'm a little cool on this song because I'm just starting to listen to it now and I've been loving those EPs for years now. Plus, this song feels out of context without at least an EP behind it.

Those 2 EPs are epic, I still listen to them regularly.

I hope they have a new one in 2009

Yeah hopefully their upcoming one is better than the first lp. I always have looked at these guys like a cheap fast food meal; instant gratification and enjoyable to be sure, but immediately forgettable. Maybe I should give them another chance.

Bands you have to convince yourself to like aren't worth it in the long run. There's too much other good music in the world to be discovering for that kind of nonsense.

Oh for sure, but there's a big difference between forcing yourself to like something based on some ridiculous notion of what is hip or canon, and legitimately giving something you initially dismissed a second look. Many of my favorite acts/albums are ones that I didn't love right off the bat.

Now whether or not Voxtrot are worth that second look, idk but I'll be generous methinks.

Shackleton's Great Adventure
this band is done. new songs sucks and the dudes blog entry to introduce it is even worse: "Regarding our absence, sometimes one needs to disappear in order to
regroup; situations change and human beings are swept here and there by the marvelous ebb and flow of culture." and that picture? don't even get me started. i have a feeling the LP will sound better and better relative to what they release after it.
