"I'm Gonna Get You" is probably my all-time favorite diva-house track. GIITH is a close #2.

Was "Dreamer" by Living Joy released to late to be included in this thread? Or Amber's "This Is Your Night"?
Some of the tracks Dr Bill mentioned remind me of my days working at Columbia College's radio station WCRX.
Ah memories...Midday Goddess in the house.

"This is Your Night" is closer to the mid-90s hi-NRG school, which has some considerable classics to its claim as well. Don't know Living Joy.
edit: Though I guess "100% Love" and "Show Me Love" are sort of from that era too.

Just a couple mentions that haven't gotten thrown around...
"Good Beat" off of Deee-lite's album, the same one with "GIITH" is almost as good as GIITH if not better.
C&C Music Fact's "Just a Touch Of Love" is great.
Crystal Waters "Gypsy Woman" is better than 100% to me (tho god knows I love them both).
Lets not forget 20 fingers - "Short Dick Man," "U Got To Lick It"
TEN CITY
"Devotion"
"That's The Way Love Is"
Bill if you don't know ten city I'll be v. disappointed.

Ahh yes B-96 when it was the good old days.
I remember they were responsbile for getting those German guys
Bad Boys Blue a record contract. Remember 'Save your Love' and
'I Totally Miss You'. So cheesy it hurts.
Get Busy by Mr. Lee was a hit at my 8th grade end of year dance.
That Jocelyn Enriquez song was huge too, nice house-pop song.

This song rules.
I actually bought
World Clique, and I can say with complete conviction that there are absolutely no songs on that album that are as good (if not better) than GIITh. Square peg in a round hole.
That's a weird thing to say. Not thta GW(SS) isn't good, but the lyrics are so ridiculous, and I think 100PPL sounds a lot better by today's standards.
"Short Dick Man" is a clssic for certain.
No idea who Ten City is.

wtf are you talking about, thats a great album.
As much as I like GIITH i think its pretty overrated, in the context of the album it doesn't even stand out that much to me, if it wasn't a single I wouldn't have picked it to be one.

Queen Latifah's "Come Into My House"...hands down Queen Latifah's best track ever (although I haven't heard any of her more recent stuff).
And what was that song by "The Real McCoy" that was released around 94'...always loved that track.

Easily one of the five silliest things you've ever said. There's a reason why 999 people out of a thousand couldn't name a second Deee-Lite song--that song was a band and genre apex, the complete fruition of any goal they or their peers could've had for their music. To say that it isn't a stand out track of theirs is like saying that
The Deer Hunter "wasn't a standout Michael Cimino effort" or that George Costanza "wasn't a standout Jason Alexander role".

need more info on the other two, unless the "Booty Call" one is Blackstreet's "Booti Call"

Are you thinking about the "Booty Call" that sampled an actual phone ringing and had a guy saying "Aww hell nah, I think I got a booty call"? Followed by a "boooooooooteeeeeee"? Eh, thats kinda vague.. but I remember a song like that. Blanking on who did it though.

I'm pretty sure "Bang bang bang skeet skeet skeet" was around well before 2000 - I could be wrong though, that is around the time I became aware of it (actually I think I first heard it in '99 if I'm placing my memory correctly!) but to my knowledge it was a mid-90s classic.
Most of the stuff bg's talking about is getting into classic chicago ghetto/jack house, which is mostly post-pop house's prime, talking '95-'96 or so with DJ Funk's Pumpin the Trax. You can still hear tons of this stuff on Power 92 late at night, esp. on the weekends. I became aware of it in high school where folks would call out hooks at basketball games and shit like that.

not positive--ask Deej, he's the one who sent me that track eons ago
And MBD seems to me much more in the vein of mid-90s southern dance-rap tracks like "Tootsee Roll," "My Boo," "C'Mon Ride It (The Train)" etc. than stuff like Black Box and Cathy Dennis

The south gets credit for everything.

PS: Bill I know that culturally Deee lite are considered one hit wonders and that song is considered the only thing worth listening to that they did. I'm saying that this is wrong, and that World Clique is a really strong album all the way through. Listen to "Good Beat" again and tell me I'm wrong.
