Stuck with listening to clips on Amazon. Can't find it anywhere. Oh well, one more week.
Sounds like vintage 70's AM radio.

I hope new reigning sound is as good as old reigning sound. I haven't listened to music in six months cause of being on a boat like t pain, who i only just realized had been on a boat. My little bro came out with a record that made my head explode. I wonder if vamos is still fucking crazy. His music was pretty cool. Ozzy's vocals throughout "War Pigs" are really, really sharp, like almost a semi-tone high. If he were on American Idol, Paula would call him "pitchy."
Not saying they were cool or anything, just a way to check in with what the masses are listening too every once in a while. Go back to listening to Frighten Rabbit or whatever you are currently indulging yourself with.

First 8 tracks on that album are so fucking impeccable it breaks my balls. The last two tracks are good too (especially "Two Thieves"), but they kind of kill the momentum of that initial run which is possibly the best Cartwright-related run of songs ever, including Too Much Guitar. I dunno. Love that album at any rate.
Can't imagine new Reigning Sound being 'bad' as such, but it's got a lot to live up to.

One of the main reasons I play the album so much is so I can get to "Two Thieves."
And I'm just all about the shameless Iggy Pop vocal aping on "Rock 'n Roll Nurse."
Pretty ridiculously solid lineup of songs.

Definately playing the shit out of Your Happiness if I ever get married.
I don't know what it is,but recently I've hit a wall when it comes to new stuff. I haven't heard a lot from this year,But the stuff I have that's been praised to the high heavens(Vecktamist,Middle Cyclone, and a couple of others) has bored the shit out of me. The only albums I've really enjoyed this year have been Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and Sonic Youth. Has this year really been that shitty or am I listening to the wrong stuff?

Yes, you're listening to the wrong stuff. Cannibal Corpse, Cobalt, Mastodon, Napalm Death, Zu, Propagandhi, Hacride, Dredg, Animals as Leaders, Goatwhore, God Forbid, Anaal Nathrakh, Cave In--these musics are not boring. Stinking Lizaveta is decent as well.
I just realized I have 60 CD's I've never even listened to yet. This is a very good problem to have,But now I have no idea what I want to listen to next.

Listening to the new reissue of Def Leppard's Pyromania...here's a Deluxe Edition worth checking out. The album remaster is spectacular, and the bonus disc's 1983 live set recorded in LA is SCORCHING. This is the sound of one hungry band.
It's out there on the torrents.
Man, you weren't kidding. Disc Two is where it's at. Some amazing extras on that bonus disc, defintely worth shelling out for.
And for those of you who still incomprehensibly maintain that this was the record where they "sold out"- I defy you to crank up the remastered "Fooling" and tell me it sucks with a straight face.

Wandered around the Loop for a bit after work & inevitably stopped into Reckless - saw this propped up in the tiny listening station & read they were from Rockford. Rockford, Illinois? "1969's A Lovely Sight, Pisces' only attempt at an LP, never made wax; but the fuzz guitar phrases and tambourine shuffle of "Dear One" instantly illustrate the band's woozy realm. Deeper inside, bass scales borrowed from Sgt. Pepper give way to Who moves wrecked by bad fidelity and harsh intrusions of found sounds. Jefferson Airplane's swirled, lysergic Haight Street utopia melds with the urban narcosis of the Velvet Underground's East Village" A secret psychedelic record that nods to the Velvets from Rockford, Illinois? Yes, please. Haven't listened to it yet but the liner notes are great...one band photo features a stringy haired little fella wearing homemade t-shirt proclaiming: "ROCK N ROLL SATISFIES MY SOUL" The c.d. is lovingly packaged...it came with a baseball card for a band called Wee?
I also bought Antlers "Hospice" and the new MOJO magazine...I've been trying to find that Kylesa record everybody's mad about but no dice for a few weeks now.

Really good. Really weird, too. Traditional late-60's psychedelic pop stuff but some pretty dark stuff lyric-wise - at one point on a sing-songy, hooky tune I was startled to hear the line, "You're mother's going to die tonight". Rockford must've been as drab in 1968 as it is now. There's 4 tunes with vocals put down by a 17 year old girl that're cool, too - she had a pretty powerful, husky voice. The liner notes say she was last heard from on the run from a check kiting scheme or something.
I cranked the shit out of that Antlers record, too, while I was cleaning the house. That's a solid little record right thurrrr.
edit: and as for the new MOJO - you Chicagoans might get a kick out of this: the missus pointed out that in the photo on page 42, accompanying Koko Taylor's obit, the zip code 60660 is under the banner "Koko Taylor and Her Blues Machine" on her van's spare tire cover - Edgewater! Helluva run-on sentence there...

A statement from Empty Bottle owner Bruce Finkleman:
QUOTE
Dearly Beloved,
I write to you today to eulogize our friend, confidant, and favorite feline Radley. Today this 25th day of August at 2:32 pm, Radley finally succumbed to the ills of the hard rockin lifestyle he lived.
For these last 16 years, you could find Radley roaming the friendly confines of the Empty Bottle. Slinking across the bar to catch a sip of your beverage, or cuddling with you on the couch. He never judged you when you drank, and was always there to lend a furry shoulder. You were never alone when Radley was around. Many a drummer have been reminded that they were playing in Radleys house.
To the bands that returned him home when found hiding in their van, to the concerned customers who carried him home when he roamed the streets. To the loving family members who cared for him over the years, to his medical team that helped ease his pain. The cat with the mouse tattoo in his ear was truly our friend.
Today is truly a sad day in Empty Bottle history.
Radley has outlasted his brothers and sisters Scout, Boo, Gem, Finch, Atticus, and Bob.

Local college radio played a tune this morning that grabbed my ear while I was showering - I couldn't catch the band's name & I thought the chick said the song was called "Don't Stop Labor Day" - quick search on-line isn't turning anything up, though...it sounded similar to The Verve's "See You in the Next One (Have a Good Time)"
Anybody got ideas?
