Haven't forgot about this twicks. Compromiser was just added to my iPhone last night. I likely will be giving it a spin this week.
No rush at all...hope you find something to enjoy. Thanks for giving it a shot.
Well I listened to the first five songs off of
Compromiser today. I didn't get to the back half because "Learned From the Best" is a GREAT
goddam track and I kept repeating it. It screams not only only "single", but "hit single". What are you guys doing to promote it besides the video? Get your stuff out there as much as possible man! My band used to use
Garage Band (not to be confused with the Apple Mac Garage Band) to promote our tracks and get feedback. The better the feedback the farther the track goes. And of course there is MySpace. Do you guys have a MySpace? I couldn't find a link to it from your website.
Back to the first 5 tracks. I dig the opener "Double Rings". Nice riff. I like how the track kicks in halfway through the verse. Chorus is very catchy.
"Learned From the Best" is fucking killer. Love the intro with the keyboard hook. Verse, pre-chorus and chorus are all stellar. The best part of the song is the "ahh ahh" bridge. Love it.
"For the Birds" is good, but probably the weakest track of the 5. I noticed the singer is different than the one on the other 4 tracks. I like the other singer much better. BTW from your website I was able to deduce that you are the singer on the other 4 tracks. I really like your voice.
"Only 35" is very good. Like the riff in conjunction with the piano. Chorus is great.
"Late In the Day" is my second favorite track of the 5. Nice guitar tone. Love the "do do do do do do do do's" on the part before the verses. I really like the piano bit at the end. Great way to end the song. My only criticism is the guitar solo - it isn't particularly memorable.
Production on these first 5 tracks is very good. Lyrics are solid as well.
If the second half of this is as good as the first half I can easily see
Compromiser making it's way into heavy rotation. This stuff is way up my alley.
You guys remind me of a great band from the 90's called
The Connells. 1993's
Ring had a college radio hit called "Slackjawed". You guys don't necessarily sound like them, but you both have a melodic, melancholy jangle pop vibe going on.
I look forward to the second half and will report back.
