I don't really understand your argument there, but I guess we can agree to disagree.

Lost wasn't someone writing an Urban fantasy where almost everything can be excused by some new bizarre action.

did you watch lost?

i guess it wasnt an urban fantasy...more of a tropical fantasy
Mitchell
There was certainly a fair bit of the alien space bats in Lost.
dave9199
This has probably been said somewhere in this thread, but I bet someone will edit down the whole series to 2 or 3 seasons and make a better flowing, more concise story than the 6 seasons that we saw.

Well you can easily lose the Rose/Bernard & Nikki/Paolo eps...

Anyways now that two shows I had been following are over I might pick up Breaking Bad. Don't know much about it, but I need something to hold me over til the next season of Dexter. smile.gif

You're in luck. Breaking Bad is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Dexter.
spiritofeden
so, i just read a quick synopsis of Breaking Bad. its essentially Weeds, without the hot mom?

I am sure I am wrong about that, and will be told that by a few people, but thats what the synopsis on wiki would lead me to believe....

again, going from just the synopsis alone, theres NO WAY its better then Dexter.
Bob Loblaw
I've been told that a Wiki synopsis is the best way to judge tv dramas.
spiritofeden
well, it does tell me what it is about. am I wrong in assuming it is similar in ways to Weeds?
Mitchell
I've just been reminded about the episode in the first series of Lost about Charlie's back-story, one of the worst hours of TV I've ever seen.
Drinky
That was hilarious. I'm pretty sure the entire Drive Shaft thing was intended to be funny.
Mitchell
It wasn't, it was dreadful. Manchester is nothing like that either.

Why would you spend so much time watching a tv show you hate? If someone hypes a show to me, I'll watch an episode. If I don't like it, I move onto something else.
By-Tor
But Glenn Becks's show is fucking funny.

I watched more than one episode because I like to be informed and know what I'm talking about. That way everyone else doesn't think I'm a know-nothing, knee-jerk cunt like you two smile.gif

edit:

i laugh at people who are just now realizing it at the very end! just kidding..but fuck lost

face the facts:

lost was a dumb show written for dumb people that happened to fool a lot of more intelligent people into thinking it was smart

ok

what i mean to say is, i've always thought that show sucked and i'm just saying, told you so to all those that got strung along for years, and probably got dumbed down a little bit mentally by the stereotypical characters/bs, that show was never art, just food for the masses

don't waste your time watching shit

- also if this offends anybody personally, that was the whole purpose, bad mood tonight

Having seen only the last 2 seasons of Weeds, I'd say its similarity to BB begins & ends with drugs. BB has more in common w/ Dexter, which I've been a fan of, but in general it's like comparing Steinbeck to Stephen King.

What was the title of this thread? Oh. Lost Season Seis. I'm a bit confused why people who have only seen a few episodes or just season 1 are posting over and over. Oh well. I'm going to head to Music Discussion and breakdown Funeral in the Arcade Fire album #3 thread! See ya there fuckers!
Duff.
Being the end of the series, people are taking this moment to assess the show as a whole. Some people are intent on placing it among the very best shows ever, and some are compelled to respond with their disagreement. Not too big a leap here.
flinchy17
I was simply bothered by those who have not seen the show as a whole.

Blade runner, I'm really sorry if I didn't make myself clear: go fuck yourself. Your uninformed baiting/trolling in countless threads is childish and tiresome. Go drink some more.
Some Brilliant Bullsh*t
Series Finale not as awful when it repeated last night - now that I knew what to expect, it was a little easier to take it on its own terms. A disappointment as a whole, but the emotional catharsis is satisfying.

That's just the long way of saying "it was over my head the first time".

With posting lately, I had to check if blade runner used to be brainstorm.

Maybe brainstorm hacked his account?

just finished watching this complete series a little after the fact.....i found seasons 3-5 to be quite enjoyable. the whole season about pressing a button (season 2) was pretty awful and season 6 was insanely awful, not to mention the very boring and predictable finale that left even more dumb questions then the whole show put together....too bad..the show had potential to do a lot more...seemed like the writers has a horrible case of ADD....i was really hoping for a cool twist at the end....and then it went and played out like a disney film....pretty awful stuff

......just makes shows like x-files, twilight zone, twin peaks and dallas look all the better...
Bob Loblaw
How in the hell does it make Dallas look better?

You guys actually watched Dallas?! huh.gif

I was only four when JR was shot, so no. But I know enough about the show to not understand how there's any connection to Lost.
maztrax
I had never seen an episode of Lost until yesterday when I picked up Season 1 on DVD. Watched the first 3 episodes of Season 1 so far and was blown out the door by greatness. Can't wait to watch the next 100 or so episodes.

All downhill, my friend. Well, it's great until the beginning of season 3. Season 3 is highly inconsistent, but with a wonderful finale. After that point, it's a clear downward spiral. Season 2 had a lot of rough spots as well, but less than season 3. Fantastic finale in season 2, too. Probably my favorite of them.

Amazing how quickly I forgot about this show after the terrible final season. I don't even reminisce in a good way about it. It's just done, with almost no redeeming qualities to me. After all the time I spent thinking about it and watching it, I'd think it would've lingered in my mind for longer. Nope.

The only show I've ever watched front-to-back that turned out to be a waste of time. The excitement you feel during S1, S2, and parts of the seasons thereafter turns out to be just cheap thrills. None of that shit that seems so meaningful actually has any meaning at all when it all comes down to the final curtain. Lost turns out to be an ADD-addled response to the question, "How do we get viewers to tune in next week?" and that's pretty much it. Fuck Lost through and through. I will never recommend it to anyone I care about in the slightest.
Angrimorfee

..."How do we get viewers to tune in next week?".. .

That is pretty much the goal of any weekly network television program. huh.gif
pigfuck
Of course it is one of the goals, but some television shows aspire to other - imo, loftier - goals. Lost presented itself as such a show. Instead, it ultimately offered nothing more to me than CSI or The Mentalist - just light entertainment, except Lost wasn't all that entertaining, nor did it present itself honestly.

"How do we get viewers to tune in next week?"

Sure sounds like they fooled you for years.

Question for those who say "It went downhill after season 2, and turned into the worst program. the last season confirms it!":
Why the fuck did you keep watching a show you thought sucked, wasn't entertaining, etc?
Angrimorfee
Even Montana, the biggest complainer I know of re: the show's quality (not trying to pick on you here, guy) stuck it out and was actually satisfied with the ending.

The jollies I got week to week were fine, but the ultimate "entertainment" of Lost was premised on the show ultimately 1) making sense and 2) saying something meaningful. It did neither of those. I've already donated too many of my precious words to this piece of shit. I wrote a pretty excellent longform takedown several pages back. I stand by everything I said in it, even though it was written prior to the finale. Read that if you want to argue with me.
