didn't you just take this out of your signature for fear of SOMBies listening online and furiously masturbating to the sound of your voice whilst thinking about your recent lesbian experience?

I've really started to enjoy college radio since I started DJing here in DeKalb. I think its really cool now to have a bunch of college stations on my iTunes.

Oh shit, I love this Cat Power song.

PS: You're stations website is WAY better than mine.

i'm not responsible for the PSAs around here (although i actually think that one won some CMJ award...must not have been much competition that year). we try to make them as amusing (disgusting?) as possible.

'KDI aka WKDI was the college station before some general manager bastard embezzled funds and the SA shut the station down. I find it funny that there was always this slightly contentious relationship between the station and the Star (for which I wrote music reviews) and now they are running the show. Where do you broadcast from? On campus?

Kat:

I'll have to give you a listen next week...great stuff on the playlist.

I always wondered what happened to WKDI.
I remember calling the station one time to ask for Dreadlock Holiday.
They said it was on their 'banned' list, and could not play it. Sheeeit.
Oh yeah, fuck the Northern Star.

We broadcast from the same office as the Star actually, in our own converted closet, er, studio. As far as contentious relationships go, I can't really say yes or no. On one hand, our current editor-in-chief is a really cool guy who loves NS*Radio and wants to see it grow.

But on the other hand, there's not much that really gets done in the way of promoting the stuff on the station. For one, not many people are actually sitting down and listening to our internet station. Plus, when we were trying to advertise for our first ever NS*Fest, we were kinda pushed aside so that they could advertise something for Campus Ministries.

And for what its worth, I'd love to write reviews for the star, but I can't work for NS*Radio and the Northern Star at the same time! mad.gif

Still, I love doing the show for some reason. Hopefully I'll get a manager job next semester, so I can actually get paid for my time.

That sux that you can't do both. It's pretty sweet to get paid for the gig, but in my case academics really suffered when I was Music Director. I miss having a show and am thinking about getting into community radio here...

Yeah, it was weird that there were some "banned" songs. Donovan's "Season of the witch" had a big DO NOT PLAY ON THE AIR sticker on the album. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why.
Jimmy TKB
There are many, many reasons to not play Donovan on the air...
