and any other Canadians hanging around these parts.

Anybody got any crazy Canada Day plans?

I've sat in front of the TV for six hours watching TSN's mind-numbing coverage of Free Agent Frenzy, will probably go watch some fireworks tonight.

I was gonna commemorate the day by watching a Canadian movie but...yeah, you know...

I was at a family shindig up north. Fun day...bbq and hockey speculation, what could be better?

So what is Canada Day? Is it like the Canadian version of the 4th of July? Does it commemorate something? You know down here in the lower 48 we never learn about other countries, so I really have no idea.

It's the anniversary of the British North America Act, which essentially made Canada a country on July 1, 1867. Or in simpler terms, Canada's berfday.

Happy birthday!

Speaking of Canada (smooth segue, huh), what can I do up there on the west end? Hockey's over, darn it...There's Vancouver, Lake Louise, Glacier National Park...what else? I haven't done my homework obviously.

Maybe I should wait until hockey season starts back up. Is it pretty easy to get tickets to games at the last minute or do they usuallyl sell out?

Last time I was in Canada, a few weekends ago, I pissed on it. I mean, I was on a boat with no head on Lake Erie, off the islands, in Canadian waters and I really had to pee. No offense.

Curling?

Anyway, nice for you Canadians. To think, all we needed to do was ask politely to be independent and wait another 130 years. laugh.gif

There's so much stuff to do in BC that I don't even know where to begin. I hope to explore Vancouver Island this fall, the south end around Victoria is still foreign to me. Vancouver's getting waaaay too congested...as attached I am to that city, it's really starting to lose its appeal.

The Columbia Parkway between Banff and Jasper, though, that's the most spectacular drive in North America.
