From a subjective standpoint, opinions are objective. Or objectives have opinions. Or suppinions are injective?
Short answer: yes.

I'm not an expert, but I think the preferred nomenclature is 'chops.' And a particularly skilled technician can 'shred', bro.

Shouldn't you be listening to nothing but Beethoven and Chopin then, Liffey? They are so much more 'achieved from a technical standpoint' then anything in contemporary pop, rock, jazz, and electronic.
Yeah, but I don't like that genre as much. Like I said I'm not trying to say that one genre is inherently better than the other. Just that I can pretty objectively say that some genres haven't reached the achievements of others yet.
OK, I'd agree with that for the most part. (Not trying to gang up on you, btw. This is an interesting discussion.)
Q: Do you think pop music is limited by its very nature? If not, do you think pop music has an unlimited potential to advance and still remain 'pop' as we know it?

I don't think pop is limited by its own nature. I think it has a huge potential for growth and for mixing with other genres. It's impossible to predict where it will evolve to, but I think it can definitely grow without becoming unidentifiable. There are good melodies out there already, but I think that musically it can go so much farther. I'm not talking about going "pop-prog" or doing guitar solos necessarily, but there is a ton of room for intricacy and complexity that could make it worth much more as an investment genre.

You guys have spent so much time addressing the music of Lady Gaga, what you haven't done is focus on Lady Gaga himself and what he's overcome to become one of the most promising transvestite pop artists since Cher and Rue Paul. I think we'll still be talking about Lady Gaga and his contributions to the transvestite music community for years to come.*

I can't say that I'm a fan. Actually I despise this shit. But I also must say that it's kind of cool that something like that is being watched by the standard pop music consumer. So, mild props to Lady Gaga - but I still say if she has talent and brains (which I sort of think she does at this point, after seeing this - before I just thought it was utter shit), why doesn't she start making quality pop music? The fashion is kind of cool, but this pop music is sellout corporate fucking TRASH. Which detracts a great deal of props from her scorecard.
All style no substance. Shit music. But cool ideas - like the video editing and everyone dying.
I give Lady Gaga a 2.5/10.

i think she has mede the biggest impact on music out the gate since Kanye West. i mean, the 2 of them knout it out the park 4 the most part almost every time. now that telephone video is terrific, and there is subtext 2 it. without the subtext it would still be great but the subtext is America. gaga is destroying america. all 2 do with gay rights and ish, and that diner is the heart of USA, an so on. its easy 2 hate on her but i think she is terrific.
