Going 8-8 or below might be the best thing that can happen to this org. Could give them incentive to fire everyone and bring in a new coaching staff/GM.

jay cutlers death warrant has officially been signed...mike martz is your new bears OC
MattW
I still can't make up my mind as to whether or not this can work. Martz didn't work in Detroit because he didn't have his Marshall Faulk there. He didn't work in San Fran because he didn't have his Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, and Kurt Warner. Forte is a good fit, Cutler is a good fit, perhaps Knox and Aromashodu are the Bruce/Holt combo he needs. But I just don't think it's a good idea for the Bears to be an offense that passes on 60% of their plays.

i wouldnt be so apprehensive about this move if the bears had an o-line...until they do cutlers a dead man - not to mention the fact that if he threw 26 picks this year do you know how many hell throw next year?

and if i hear the phrase "get off the bus running" or "were a run team first" non sense next year i vow to not watch any bears games...
MattW
Martz is huge into screens and flat passes to set up the deeper ball later on. This forces D-lines not to be so aggressive with their pass rushes out of fear of the big play from such a screen or flat pass. This might actually be exactly what the doctor ordered given the personnel.

We'll see though.

it also requires a quick and mobile o-line able to get downfield and block as well as receivers that run good routes!!!!

no one on this team especially our #1 WR in hester has displayed the ability to know what they are doing out there - much less have to learn a new system

Lucky for the Bears, Az-Hakim is out of football.

I'm a pretty big believer in the 3 year rule for receivers. Sidney Rice is the latest exhibit of evidence for it. Aromashodu and Knox may not completely hit their stride like Rice but they have a lot a talent and have a chance to come a long way this year.

aromashadu is an avg receiver and 2 other teams that he previously played for also thought so...knox on the other hand i beleive can be another desean jackson - with a better head on his shoulders...

Brian Urlacher is not going to like this.

I don't blame him.
Moo & Oink
Even a hack like Jon Kitna got over 4,000 passing yards in one season with Martz as the OC, so you never know.

bears have named marenelli the DC...didnt see that one coming a mile away

Stocking up on former Lions coaches to get the skinny on how to beat them. I see what you're doing there, Bears!

Gotta love your favorite team turning into the graveyard of awful NFC North coaches. Ugh.

This isn't "embarassing" -- this is what happens to poorly run companies with incompetent management: talented people pass on their jobs.

The "embarassing" part will happen next season - when the Chicago Bears go 7-9 and miss the playoffs. Again.

Chicago just signed DE J. Peppers and are rumored to be closing a deal on Chester Taylor, as well...interesting.

these are done...72mm for 6 years with peppers and 12.5mm 4 yrs for taylor...olson is rumored to be moved to the pats for an OL or for a pick to pick up either boldin or OL
Pat Sansone
These moves are nice and all. But boy do the Bears still need massive help in the secondary and with wide receivers.
