I'm not sure what to think about this album. I read early reviews saying that this would be more accessible like "Die Slow" and that it ain't. Some of the mid section of the album is just so abrasive, its like its trying to annoy me. still though, the more digestible stuff is really great (Die Slow, We are Water, In Violet) so i'll withhold my judgement.

Nope, never heard it. But if its less accessible than this than it must be damn near unlistenable. Thats not to say this is bad, it just pushes me to my noise threshold. Like that Crystal Castles band, fuck...they're awful.

I have not yet heard this, and have no idea what I'd be in for. Why should I listen? Define "accessible"? Define "abrasive"? Contextually, that is?

Noisy harsh electro layered with shoegaze-y vocals.
Here's "Die Slow," it'll prep you for what to expect:
Keep in mind that not all of the album follows such song structure, hence less accessible / more abrasive. It's still impressing me quite a bit.

they're giving away prizes to 66 lucky people who buy the album, ranging from posters signed in blood, to signed vinyl and a trip to LA.

I am so on that.
Now I realize that they sound quite different but...how excited everyone was getting over Merriwether Post Pavillion? That's how much this tickles my ears. Not that either perspective is Right or Wrong. Just voicing my enthusiasm.

no, I can definitely understand. After I heard "Die Slow" for the first time this basically became my #1 most anticipated album of the year.

admittedly, "die slow " is the shit, but right now the last 2 tracks ("We Are Water", "In Violet") are doing it for me. Reaallly doing it for me. Like those two on repeat for the last 45 minutes or so...

Anyone see the mid 7? Fuck what Pfork did to this band after hyping them through the roof. Nobody can accuse the review of trashing them, but they definitely cheated the band after a dozen news pieces casually mentioning how wonderful the album is. I wouldn't care so much if PF weren't pretty much the only publication to review Get Color.

they wanted a whole album full of "DIE SLOW" and they didn't get that, but i think this album is much better than if it were full of catchier songs like that. it is very dynamic. it rises and falls in all the right spots. there is some very bizarre instrumentation that is also pretty musical. i mean, this album is pretty futuristic sounding actually... and it's way awesome.

It's not like they didn't like the album, but I'd definitely give it a higher score. "Die Slow" is great, but I like hearing the different aspects of their sound.

eh...i take a 7.something from p4k with a grain of salt. if they hand out a 7 to a band or sound that i've really liked in the past, there's a good chance i'm going to love the new one too. Their 7 is like an A-/B+ to me, especially if the band has already been around for a while and has had a chance to gain some publicity on their own.
does anyone like HEALTH's debut better than GET COLOR? i think i may....but too early to call. get color is probably a better overall album, but i like the raw, rough around the edges, unexpectedness of the debut.

definitely like the s/t more. i haven't listened to the new one much but that's mainly because i was hoping they would progress in some way. from the five minutes of this that i listened to it sounded like generic tribal noise music.

couldn't disagree more. It's much more song-based. Love the new one, whereas I liked the first one.

Nope, nothing inside or even outside. No thanks, credits, etc. It actually only says HEALTH really tiny on the spine. I got the package with the tote bag, shirt, buttons, sticker and poster. None of which I will get use out of, besides the shirt.
