I make more than 80% of the people who live here. (And I'm strictly middle class). I could do the same job, make the same money I do now, live in Chicago, and have myself a crappy apartment, or a two hour commute to work after I find an affordable house.
Here: I own a house, two cars, keep my kids well-clothed, have a little bit of spending money, and I don't have to deal with all of the politics, back door dealing, and cliquishness of the business I'm in, which occurs in every other large city.
Indianapolis ain't Heaven, and the people here aren't all that quick on their feet, but I'm doing pretty freaking well here. (Besides that, my wife's family is here, so there's
that to deal with).
