yesterday was a typical lazy sunday browsing through the cable channels. we ended up on BBC on demand and caught a couple of episodes of this show. anyone else? pretty fuckin hilarious...sort of a jackass meets god knows what. pretty entertaining though.

Ed Leigh and Spencer Claridge are two fiercely competitive mates who take this principle to the extreme. Each week in Ed vs Spencer, the duo use their cunning, guile, and sometimes brute force to compete against each other in outrageous and entertaining challenges, with the sole purpose of seeking satisfaction in the ritual humiliation of the loser.

The pair hit the headlines earlier this summer when a mystery man handcuffed himself to Big Brother contestant Vanessa Nimmo at a London party. It was in fact Ed, part of his master plan to be victorious in the challenge: Who can become the most famous? Ed will stop at nothing to annoy, irritate and undermine the more honourable Spencer. He takes immeasurable pleasure in winding his best mate up as they battle it out for bragging rights.

Male pride is a precious thing, so friendship counts for nothing in this clever, crazy, contest. Ed and Spencer will stop at nothing in their quest to humiliate each other.

I saw the one where they were trying to out-ill each other. The "neat" guy was doing all this elaborate shit like going to sleep in wet clothes, trying to give himself athlete's foot, getting bitten by a snake, etc., while the "sloppy" guy spent a week smoking and getting wasted. Of course, the sloppy guy won.

It was pretty entertaining, basically the thinking man's Jackass.

this is good tv. the handcuffs episode was so great. there is no way i could be handcuffed to someone for more than, like, three hours.

Amazing show... hilarious and well-executed. Both episodes have been great so far, looking forward to a new one this Thursday. I think the Best Porn Film one is airing this week.

I need to see this, but we don't get BBC here at school. Hopefully there will be a marathon or something this Sunday when I go home cause I want to check this shit out in a bad way.

seriously, you guys. check out kenny vs. spenny on the game show network. it's a little more low key than this show (they're canadian, come on) but just as good. and pretty much the same concept.



Kenny and Spenny (a.k.a Kenneth Joel Hotz and Spencer Nolan Rice) are two best friends who compete against each other. Their competitions are ridiculous, immature and totally intense. Kenny is a witty wise-cracker and brilliant schemer. Kenny's a goofball looking for a shortcut. He loves to humiliate Spenny and will do anything to win. Spenny is a stressed out, neurotic, short-fused adult-type who believes in preparation and hard work. He's responsible, often angry, introspective, paranoid and ethical.

Like most pals, Kenny and Spenny have always competed against one another. Kenny sees every contest as a way to have fun, get things for free, meet girls and humiliate his pal on national television. He feels that he can beat Spenny "fair and square" but admits that would take all the fun out of it. Kenny loves to compete against Spenny, because Spenny is an only child and isn't used to sibling rivalry. "I'm like the tormenting brother he never had and probably didn't want."

In Kenny V’s Spenny the boys compete in bizarre and crazy competitions against one another to find the answers to the following questions amongst others:

Who is the best Fashion Designer? Who can stay awake the longest? Who can sit on a cow the longest? Who is the sanest?
The results are a show that is strangely compulsive and hugely entertaining.

the difference between these shows is i've always thought that kenny and spenny actually like each other. it's infinitely more amusing when the contestants don't like each other, which is the case with ed and spencer.

oh, i find it faaar more amusing to watch friends fight. plus, theyre roommates. and completely awful to each other. comedy gold!

this is the best show i've ever seen

The bit with the carrots, spitting in the water, and using the airhorn had me crying. Took me right back to all the stupid shit we used to do in college.

that whole dinner sequence in last week's episode was a riot. pulling spencer's hand down while he tried to eat was hilarious.

i was laughing my ass off at that too....or when spence would turn around while cooking and ed would spit in the pot. what an ass!

i saw my first two episodes of this tonight. fucking genious! i caught the episode where they see who is liked more by women and then the who can get sickest contest.

that is some genious television, i tell you what.

This week's episode (who can stay in the woods the longest) was pretty good, though not as amazing as the first two.
