yeah, i know. i am holding off, though, b/c the (very) earliest i can take a position is july. almost all the jobs i am interested in (gov't, NGO, public radio, writing) are for immediate hire. best of luck w/your hunt...
Apply for them anyway. Even "immediate hire" usually takes about a month or so. And hiring processes always seem to take longer than you are led to expect.
Plus, if you get an offer and turn it down, no harm for you. Its a pretty great spot to be in, and very often if a company likes you enough to hire you they'll work with you on the start date. Not to mention the intangible benefit of going through several interviews. More practice = better interviews. It really does help. Finally, think of the potential networking that interviewing now will give you. Get face time in April and May, make a good impression, and once you start looking for real in June and July, you'll be way ahead of the game.
If I remember right, when my friends and I tried to get our first "real" jobs, it seemed that a 6 to 9 month job search was pretty par for the course.
Getting started now will only benefit you.
