Well, it was pretty obvious to spot the fair weather fans at the game, but it was very cool.

It really felt like the series games were just a few weeks ago when I went into the park. It was just as crowded, but not the same energy. The opening ceremony was very cool especially when the curtains dropped. And they did the huge flag like they did for Game 1, extremely impressive. Then 2 freakin F-16 Hornets flew right over my head. It was very cool to not feel cynical for 30 minutes strait and just enjoy the pumping up of the crowd.

Some new video stuff was on the screen, but they kept the good stuff I liked. The game itself was great, and then it rained. We waited it out, but a lot of stations ran out of beer, and before 10 they closed down all of the beer throughout the park. Most of the food was eaten too. Venders must of loved it.

When the game came back on, it was like going to a game for most of last year, kind of nostalgic for me too. Stadium partially filled, the fans that were left were the humorously vocal fans who obviously had gone to plenty of games prior to the series, and in true southside fashion, there was a fight behind the Indians dugout.

About the 7th, we went behind home plate (how freakin' cool is it that you could just grab a seat behind home plate opening day!). We ended up being by what I think was Contreras's family. Which was pretty cool that they stuck it out despite Jose not playing the game.

It sounds like you think this is some kind of rare occurrence for The Cell.

I didn't get to see the game. They aren't on tv much where I'm at.

It wasn't rare, but it is on opening day, and will be this year until the sox hit a set of losses and shake lose some band wagoners.

I was there as well and it was pretty awesome...until the monsoon hit. I stayed until Thome hit that bomb, then I figured that they were going to call it when it became official, so I left.....oops.

Still a good win for the Champs...going to the game on Wednesday, as well...niiiiiiiiiiice.

If Thome hits 40+ home runs like the one he beat the hell out of last night, I'll be happy.

Wow. Win a World Championship and they STILL hold onto their little petty grievances and gripes....

Question?[u]
It being The Cell, did you spend more time watching the game on the field? Or the replay of it on the screen?

It being The Cell, did you applaud the perfection of the distracting runner on first base leaving open the left side for a perfect hit and run and 1st and third maneuver?.............. Or the BOOMING PRE-RECORDED CHANTS OF LETS GO WHITE SOX! over the way too loud PA.

It being The Cell, did you walk into the game with unbelievable memories so compactly and yet haphazardly tucked away in your mind of a wonderful wire to wire 2005? Or did the video monitor present and edit it for you the way that you should remember it?

As a Cubs and NL fan who went with my Sox fan friends and was happy to tip my cap to a fantastic team performance last year allow me to say this.......all I have ever needed to see or hear at Sox Park was Nancy playing the organ (and she brought her A+ game to the pregame cermonies in wonderful 50 degree sunshine) and the sound of a crisp ball snapping into a catchers mitt.

Do you realize Wrigley is the only venue in MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL that doesn't have replays for the fans?
Most clubs started adding that for the fans in the late 70's.
But hey, at least Cubs have the "Bud Light Bleachers"

Based on the way the Cubs play, I wouldn't think you'd want to see replays.

So that you do not have to pay attention to the game? Only the parts that bring you the most (usually offensive) excitement? Hell, why don't you just watch Sports Center then?

RE: Bud Light Bleachers. It's pathetic.

you're right the replay is an awful invention.
Why would I want to see that home run or stolen base again?
god damn technology, I'm throwing out my internets!

smalley the purist. i bet you watch a lot of little league games. no PA announcer, no music, no replays, just passionate fans and players trying their best. no elaborate scoreboard showing scores from other games. i mean, if you wanted to know the scores of the other games, you'd go to them, or you'd watch them on sportscenter, right? no beer vendors, because drinking a beer will just impair your ability to enjoy the game.

Apparently we each have some petty grievances and gripes.

RE: Bud Light Bleachers. It's pathetic.

I would like to go to a Cubs game to you, since it is rare to see people at the Cubs game who are actually paying attention. That's my little gripe about Wrigley. Half of the people there are constantly on cell phones, and in little social circles talking non-stop and only have their attention at the game when those few who are there for the Cubs start clapping. For pete's sake, I'm a Sox fan and I'm enjoying the game and more into it then half the people there. Not to say there aren't Sox fans like that, but from my experience I've seen it more at the Cubs games I've gone to.

I agree, I prefer more of the purest style, and also just need Nancy and the game (man, I miss the old stadium), but just because Comiskey incorporates technology doesn't make it a negative experience. And they have incorporated it nicely into the park.
Howard Rock
I think this idea that Cubs fans don't pay attention to the game is a myth. In the bleachers, yes, I might be more willing to buy that argument, but in the stands, I don't buy it. I've had many conversations about the game in the stands and generally find most people intelligent about whatever the current state of the Cubs might be.

Cellphones? This is how we are judging whose fans know more about/pay more attention to/care more about the game? Bleh. Cardinals fans are some of the best as well.

As a Sox fan, this type of thread is the reason I stopped hating the Cubs....I stopped investing any emotion in them whatsoever, I'm completely indifferent towards them...if they win, good for them, if they lose, good for them. They are just another team to me, really.

Hating them is just too much work, it's much easier to just ignore their existence.

I've personally never hated the Cubs, but have enjoyed the jesting between fans and try to stick to the same perspective as you. However I feel the need to defend the Sox/sox fans on occation.

There wasn't a single thread or copy and pasted article on this board when Ligue got arrested again earlier this year. I was sorta disappointed in Eastbay and the other Sox detractors around here.

Regardless it was awesome that he finally got slapped with a harsh sentence. Justice better late than never.

A win by six runs for each team puts them even. Today should be a good pitching matchup.

And if they are going to keep winning, tell Sizemore to get on base. He's seriously messing with my SOMB league team with his bumbling in those first two games.

Cleveland could change its logo to an alligator eating a baby and it would be more appealing to the eye than Chief Wahoo. He's the ugliest thing in the world of sports.

Arrrrgh...the White Sox have something they haven't had since 2004...a losing record.

They lost a one-run game in 11 innings, with a blown chance to win in the 9th. Konerko also struck out in key at-bats with a man in scoring position.
