It's not a bad thing by any means, but it is sort of interesting that for someone with some idiosyncratic tastes you have a #1 and a #2 that are among the most frequent to appear on these lists.

I didn't expect this to be a consensus year with singles because of the lack of an Umbrella/American Boy sort of song, but I clearly didn't give Phoenix nearly enough credit for their ability to build a consensus.

Phoenix did not click for me until the Cadillac commercial and then it all came together.

having said that, party in the u.s.a is a once off for me - not a fan of miley's other stuff. And even that song lost a bit of lustre when she said she'd never actually heard anything by jay-z, despite party in the usa's lyrics...
