i don't know about this song man. i can't hear what's so special about it, sounds like a song off Tarzan. That other song by the Suburbs isn't what i pictured intellectual art-rock to be either. The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" blows these songs to smithereens. Round 1 goes to me.

The Suburbs track isn't meant to be intellectual art rock. The initial premise is ludicrous: Intellectual art rock vs. radio-friendly pop? Not the same intent, audience or purpose. Rather than try to find an example of something which doesn't bear comparison, you have to find a disposable pop song to beat DeBarge. As DeBarge suck, it shouldn't be that hard, regardless of whether The Suburbs make it or not.

Song's approximately same age as Monty, has hooks and melody, sold a ton of records - pretty much meets his standard of greatness.

Can't fuck with this song too much, but all it makes realize is how better something like "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6 is.

I'd take Lionel Richie's "All Night Long" over that piffle any day. Same kinda groove, better singer, better 'audience participation' foreign language chanting.
