Yeah, surprisingly great song. I was expecting some halfway-decent acoustic stuff.

Pretty cool track. Way more uptempo and driving than I expected based on his previous work with Sigur Ros and Riceboy Sleeps. Will the entire album be like that? While this track is awful, I sorta hope the album doesn't all sound like this.
Also, while listening I couldn't help but thinking 'this is what Coldplay might sound like if they were better.' And sure enough someone mentioned Coldplay in the comments on youtube. Is anyone else feeling that?

So I bought my ticket for the first Chicago show and Ticketmaster gave the option to buy Go when it becomes available. I ordinarily wouldn't buy the CD this way, but with purchase it gave a download code for three advance tracks from the album.
The three tracks - "Go do", "Kolnidur" and "Grow Till Tall" are all stellar. Can't wait for the full album and the show.

It sounds pretty good. It'll suffice just fine until a high quality leak.
album makes for a very nice first listen I must say. Much bigger sound than I was expecting. I though Boy Lilikoi was going to be one of a couple busy tracks, but they're actually mostly like that. It sounds like a Sigur Ros LP that really pursues the pop elements of the first half of Med Sud.

Tornado is OK, but I guess it reminds me of the meandering Sigur Ros balladry that fills a lot of their records. That kind of stuff is fine, and indeed I enjoy it, but the slower, longer pieces are just not as exhilarating or thrilling for me as when they go full throttle on zippier pop tracks like "Gobbledegook" or "Hoppipola". A lot of Go reminds me of these more condensed, upbeat numbers which makes it a pretty exciting listen. Having played this a lot over the past week I'd determinedly say that this is better than everything they did in the 00s.
I would also be intrigued as to how these songs would come off in a live context...is Jonsi doing solo tours or playing with the band? The percussion is nuts on this album as well, so I wonder if Samuli Kosminen (who did all the percussion-work) is playing with him.

"Tornado" is definitely on the same level as a SR ballad, but I don't find it meandering at all. It packs a full-scale build and crescendo into 4 minutes whereas with Sigur Rós that could have easily been a 10 minute song (take for example "Festival" or "Ara Batur" from their last album). It definitely fits the aesthetic of the album IMO.
And yes, Jónsi is playing with a full band: "Jonsi's solo world tour will see the Icelandic musician collaborate with theatre company 59 Productions to create a stage set for his music, and he will also be joined by a brand new group of backing musicians on the road."
...real nice piece of work from Jonsi...looking forward to the Vic show on 4/28
