There's been plenty of talk about this collaboration for some time now. At last there's something to listen to out there.
First single "The High Road" is available for free download
here.
I'm just going to go straight ahead and say that it's enjoyable. Nothing
amazing, but enjoyable in the way the Shins are enjoyable..

It'd be a pretty weak Shins song, IMO.
While we're on the subject, I just listened to "Chutes Too Narrow" this morning. That album is still great.

I thought it was pretty ho-hum up until that more melodic bit in the last minute or so.

At this point is Danger Mouse really collaborating with these people or just producing them?

Pretty solid track. I'm excited to hear the whole album.

Color me very mildly interested in the record. I haven't been in the mood for the Shins/Mercer in years but it feels like they haven't been around forever now, so a new album from this guy might be refreshing at this point. Although I just listened to that song twice over and it was pretty blah.

So, Mercer broke up the Shins and kept the name alive and band going only at the insistence of his manager. He's the only key member of the group, really. Why not then label this "The Shins, produced by Danger Mouse." Same diff, more sales.

pretty cool/chill album
it's honestly not very similar to The Shins on the whole honestly (closest would be Sea Legs). kinda reminds me of Sam Prekop's solo albums at times.

Following the Billy Corgan guide to milking your band's name, I see.
That aside, I like this song. Kinda reminds me of what DM did with that one Black Keys track with the flute in the background.

For anyone who is left in the blue, a sweet Christmas surprise can be found on a site that rapidly shares things. The secret code is 325370967. I've seen this album on the internet linked as "Broken_Bells-Broken_Bells-_Advance_-2010-NOGRP.rar", but I would never provide the information on how to access pirated materials.

This is pretty pleasant stuff. There's some so-so songs sprinkled along the way but at least it's not front-loaded like Wincing the Night Away.
Early favorite: October

Mongrol Heart is pretty sweet. This is a good album, but I don't find anything outstanding on it. Definitely enjoyable, though, and exactly what I expected from Mercer and Danger Mouse.

Amazing how The Shins man make me feel cool about this kind of music. A++. Better than Wilco.

Am I thbe only one listening to this gorgeous album?
It's streaming on NPR.
It's worth checking out, and it's way better than the last Shins album.

I am an unapologetic Chutes Too Narrow fan. Think it's a perfectly crafted, 2003 top fiver. That being said, this shit sounds awful. This is pap.

Wonderful album. "The Mall and Misery," "October," "The Ghost Inside," it's all brilliant. Wouldn't mind seeing them in concert. Does anyone know if they are going to tour?

They're playing SXSW, not sure about a tour but figure they'll be doing the Festival circuit.

Unlike its creators' best prior accomplishments, Broken Bells doesn't seem prepared, or even attempting, to cross over. Nor does it feel like a new direction or outlet for either artist-- it's more of a nice detour.
Couldn't have said it better, Pitchfork. Good article.

Took a few listens but I've warmed considerably to this record. It's kind of chill and laid back, I'm finding it to be a great record to throw on when I just wanna wind down.

There are a few really outstanding songs on this album that make up for some of its bland songs.
