i'm working on stuff, i'm not about to post shit because i have so much before, but i'm curious to hear the best of what the somb has produced. nobody ever goes into plug one so i think it's fair to make this thread here.

everybody share it's going to be great lets have fun

You need to hear the SOMB Sounds compilations. Somebody up it.
n.k
I was in this band. I recorded the first two EPs with them (the last four songs on the music player plus others). Then I got married and didn't feel like touring anymore.

if you've clicked on this thread you're probably here for one of these reasons:

1. to say it's a shitty thread
2. to post your music / hear other people's music in curiosity
3. to learn and discuss the music creation process (this is my reason)

i doubt to learn any real things here, but for those of you that have participated in band practice, I'm wondering what practice was like for you guys? how did the songwriting process work?

i'll explain how my process goes:
i record my songs on logic and write down the lyrics and chords
i take the recordings to band practice
i pray that the members will like what i've came up with, but if they don't thats fine, we'll work on it together to change it

i've got about 12 demos of tracks that i want to play and perfect, but the process of writing these songs is something entirely different, and i would like to go into that maybe

bedroom pop song, kind of stupid but i like it.

curious to know what people around here think, as in, if you think it sucks, really sucks, please say so because i really have no real way of looking at it from third person. my current opinion is that the concept is fantastic but the execution is a little sloppy. i actually don't give a fuck what you guys think i just want to post it here to see if you like it and if you don't i will pretend that you're musically stupid so that i don't lose confidence and motivation. i see music as my life even if i'm not doing good right now i will certainly do good if i keep trying. try your best! but for real if it's simply mediocre tell me and I'll probably be somewhat hurt but I need to know what I'm doing wrong so that I can move forward, plus i know that opinions are opinions and i actually could give a fuck but deep down i'll hurt if you say "meh" or "whatev sucks dude kill yourself you can't make music you suck you're talentless blow your brains out"

anyway, bottom line is, pretend you didn't read any of that, listen, and don't speak because i don't want to know

closet of exhaustion, the song i posted is also about that stuff but don't speak of it round these ways

This was on one of the SOMB compilations, inspired by a hike into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness:

I liked some parts of it...sort of an Animal Collective aesthetic. The vocal made me think of Depeche Mode when Gahan sings at the foreground...the bridge multi-vocals were sloppy though. That main sample riff, the bossa nova sounding thing, gets real old at 1:35. That ending out of left field...why not just fade that main idea out?

If you think I'm full of shit, it won't bother me if you say so.
shame cock
no you're not full of shit. the multi track parts are bs for sure, not finished in terms of recording

the main point i'm trying to figure out is whether or not it's a good song, at heart

i actually don't care in the least what anybody from somb has to say, really (a tiny, tiny, tiny bit), but i just like knowing deep down that somebody else downloaded and listened to it. it's more of an affirmation of my importance in some way, just knowing that somebody else actually has heard what i created in one way or another. their opinion doesn't matter. it's kind of like a painkiller to get me through so i don't lose it and give up on my dreams. ! ! !

thanks for listening a grimmer fee a grim or fee ...

top 3 posters for me, next to stephen thomas erlwine and fletch. shout outs to you guys are being promised in the sleeve of whatever my first album is, alongside some other posters i promised shout outs to who have since become fools

the bottom line regarding "Scary" is that i have absolutely no motivation at this point to make it sound flawless, until i know larger audiences will be hearing it. at this point it's a "demo," completely unfinished, just the skeleton and muscles, no skin

Thanks for the big ups Vamos. You're a top dude in my book too, but you already know that. I never really came around to your recent Corn Cat stuff as much as I did back when you were going under the Thought Loop moniker, but I promise to give it another chance and to listen to this new stuff... grabbing it now actually. At the very least your music is always interesting and inspired.

Holy shit man... that automatic popup bullshit that sometimes appears due to mediafire clicks... they started trying to sell me some beauty products at the exact point when your song started playing. And I didn't see it in the background, and I just thought you were trying to mind fuck the universe. Fucking multi tracking. My head hurts.

Great thread idea by the way. Introduce the realness I've been hankering for.

I don't generally create anything these days, though I'm a slightly awful self taught ukulelist and I've been in a shortly lived duo called Statutory Saturday as well as a TMBG cover band with my little bro called Chess-peice Face and The Big Duluth. Sadly, lack of talent and work ethic derailed those ventures.

This thread is the closest I really come to contributing music, if only in a spiritual direction and financial backing way:

Can any of the above tracks be posted as streams? Want to hear all of it but can't download from work.

Here's a couple of my songs. Me playing guitar, singing . . .
