Impressive line-up for a pop album. Ladytron are said to have produced 5 tracks on it. Can't say I'm not excited to hear Xtina's new material.

Jesus, that first video. If those are clips from the songs, then count me in as excited, but something tells me that doesn't make sense. I'm not the biggest Xtina fan, her voice annoys me more than anything else, but she does have some fine bangers. Can't really say no to that list of producers though I really wish Diplo would just fuck off already.

They're just two viral videos on youtube. But you got to admit the sounds and visuals suggest something done by either Goldfrapp or Ladytron. This clip especially came to mind after I saw the first teaser.

Ah, so it's Christina then eh? I read a popjustice post a few days back where they speculated that it was either The Knife (that was put to bed with the whole "Colouring Of Pigeons" shabang), Goldfrapp or Aguilera. It could plausibly be material from the new Goldfrapp record which is due in a few months.
If it is Christina, all the power to her, looks like she's going in a pretty interesting direction.
Was just telling my brother about these vids yesterday and meant to see if anything had surfaced recently than completely forgot about it.
But, boy, if the new Xtina album sounds anything like the music in these clips, then it will be the first Aguilera album I listen to front-to-back. I'm pretty stoked on all the visuals and music. Interesting stuff. Keep me posted, _jon!
Pretty interesting shit at the bottom about "decoding the numerics" of these videos. Pretty strange marketing indeed, but pretty awesome nonetheless.

The code on the last clip is "MANDRAGORA," which is the mandrake plant. The plant's roots have features of a human-like form, and it definitely coincides with the branched appendages shown in one of the videos.

Most recent video has the best music.

Well, thing is she's been working with some uncharacteristic producers (i.e. Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Le Tigre) so it could turn out to be really different. But the Sony Germany press still seems to indicate it's her.
Also, does the Knife have this kind of budget? They might. I dunno.

I'm sick of these mysterious so-called "genius, creative viral marketing campaigns". Does anyone still have fond memories of the "genius marketing campaign" of Cloverfield? In the end, the product still has to be good.
As for Christina Aguilera, the lead singer of the Bravery and 4 Non Blondes Lady helped produce, so you KNOW you're getting a creative tour de force! I'm not saying it won't be good or interesting, but it does seem like people get a little too excited whenever a mainstream pop star works with anyone remotely interesting.

guilty as charged (kinda...not really concerned with who produces an aguilera album) but that's because 1) before this album i could barely care less about new christina aguilera except when 2) she has goldfrapp, le tigre, mia and ladytron writing songs for her new album and they just happen to have written some favorites of the past decade so... but yea, i just listened to blackjazz and bionic is now my number four...pushing new puritans to five.

i have to say, this is kind of ridiculous. it's cool and all but it's also somewhat bs. just tell us who the fuck it is already, the hype shouldn't overshadow the creation itself, which is what it's turning into. all this buildup and then the product - remember snakes on a plane? hyped to hell then the product was not so good... i mean, i guess this is what it's come to in this day and age with pop music, nobody cares unless you make a shitload of weird videos all over youtube. well they've done a good job, and i hope their album manages to stay in the public eye for more than a week. that would be a miracle in 2010.

that thing's been out for over a year in the UK. Highly doubt they'd develop an elaborate marketing program involving mandragora and weird imagery and what not just for the US release, especially when the album is just a so-so collection of synthpop singles.

Cloverfield is a closer reference point. Or as it was known in the summer of 2007: "wtf is this a new godzilla movie", "LOST: the movie" and "is it a 9/11 movie".
Also, I think Heretix might be on the right track.

More to the point, the visuals are amazing and if the actual music is a lot like what's playing in these videos than the "hype" seems much deserved.

Golfrapp is doing some lame cheesy 80's shit.
I think that's it for these videos. MTV is now part of the campaign with the package they "received" containing a puzzle. The llama and the monkey drawings are a reverse image of the ones found in the pictures. I don't know if that means anything, but whatevs.

I'm starting to lean toward the Knife.
Check out this picture of Karin. Look at her distinctive upper lip.
A couple more.
Note the teeth and the thinness of the lips. The shape of the forehead.
And compare to this video. Fisheye lens could account for discrepancies in size or proportion and the singer is obviously wearing contacts.
I was hesitant at first because the visuals in these videos are such a step down from the Fever Ray ones. But the Knife videos were always a little rough.
I don't know, though. While the general imagery and facial distortions (especially at the end of the monkey video) seem very Knife-ish, the tree-humping/tree-licking/tree-cumming stuff seems uncharacteristic of the pair.
