i have to say, this is kind of ridiculous. it's cool and all but it's also somewhat bs. just tell us who the fuck it is already, the hype shouldn't overshadow the creation itself, which is what it's turning into. all this buildup and then the product - remember snakes on a plane? hyped to hell then the product was not so good... i mean, i guess this is what it's come to in this day and age with pop music, nobody cares unless you make a shitload of weird videos all over youtube. well they've done a good job, and i hope their album manages to stay in the public eye for more than a week. that would be a miracle in 2010.

Snakes On a Plane is far from the proper forebear to this particular piece of viral internet hype.

that said personally i think this song sounds pretty cool, i was moved by the video. i don't usually care for this kind of music like this but i'll still be checking out the album if it has anything like the music from the other videos.

The possibility that such a mainstream popstar like Christina could secretly work on such a weird project was the real draw here, now that we know it's not her and it really is just another eccentric Swede making strange electropop, it doesn't seem as impressive. Karrin Andersson has been doing the same kind of music and cryptic videos for nearly 10 years and while this new campaign is impressive, it does feel like a rehash of what The Knife and Fever Ray have been doing. That being said, I'll always give a listen to Swedish electropop, and hopefully this'll be good enough to tide me over until the true follow-up to Silent Shout.

Ten years ago, I never would have dreamed that Christina Aguilera would do something this weird and conceptual. But shit, I'm definitely interested in hearing the album.

Oh, I did.
nagode
regardless of who this is ill be picking this up purely to hear that song in its entirety

nagode
supposedly:
B = Billy goat
I = Ibiza Owl
O = Odontocenti
N = Nymphomyiidae
I = Inca Lama
C = Catarrhines

these animals are in those videos

and

"The singer’s fourth studio album, believed to come under the name “Bionic,” has just been pushed back to April, meaning it will arrive in stores one month later than expected, as EarSucker can confirm.

“Christina Aguilera’s upcoming fourth studio album, ‘Bionic,’ has been pushed back, according to sources. The album is now set for an April 2010 release. In a statement, RCA Records announced that the album was delayed before it was scheduled to hit stores around the world in March. The record company did not mention the exact date of the album’s release, but said that her first single would be ‘Glam’ and would be released next month,” "

Duff.
Song's pretty cool. The video is too, though the suran wrap creature thing doesn't fit too well with the whole nature girl viral campaign.

Christina's album should still be interesting what with Goldfrapp/Ladytron/M.i.a. collabs.

Duff.
Awesome.

pretty much what I expected, after all the hype the new song pretty much just sounds like Lady Gaga.
Duff.

lame. Sounds like a Timbaland-produced Britney track from 8 years ago. She drops an f-bomb. Ooh. I'm going to bet her label let everything interesting hit the editing room floor.

Yeah, that's some boring junk. Here's hoping the Ladytron-produced tracks are worthwhile.

looking forward to hearing this.

ruh roh. Entire tour scrapped. Rumor is she's going back to "finish" the record. Which all means the comeback is bombing. I would expect a retooled record that just goes for the obvious big league producers. It wouldn't shock me to see all that Ladytron, Le Tigre and Goldfrapp scrapped in place of Tricky Stewart and Dr. Luke or whatever.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to add up. Scrapping an entire tour because of "not enough time to rehearse" and to focus on promotion for the new album? I already thought she was gonna have kind of a dud comeback. People thought she was behind those videos and people knew she was working with cool people, so there were these expectations that she was gonna make some fantastically weird pop album. But I just don't see her doing that. I've given up on her the same way I did Alicia Keys: talented (and amazingly attractive) women - but they're not gonna do anything other than make decent pop hits every few years. I also think that based on her interviews and artwork for Bionic ("this is futuristic") that she's gonna come off to some people as trying to latch onto the Lady Gaga phenomenon and it will all make her look too-little-too-late or worse, desperate for relevance.
the dude
nothing futuristic about it. some good songs, some filler.

give me janelle monae any day.

paragraph of the year:

QUOTE
Alas, what none of her collaborators can do is divest Aguilera of the desire to go on and on about sex. If you're going to do a five-minute song about cunnilingus, it's a good idea to enlist foul-mouthed rapper Nicki Minaj, whose bug-eyed contribution lends the proceedings an air of gripping abandon. It's a less appealing idea to refer to your vagina throughout as your woo-hoo, perhaps the worst euphemism for the female genitals since R Kelly's Zoo, on which he bafflingly called his amorata's privates "Jurassic Park". If you do refer to your vagina as your woo-hoo, you're going to deflate the atmosphere of commanding female sexuality the rest of the track works so hard to create – "Hurry up!" she barks at one point – partly because it's infantalising, but mostly because it's a phrase that makes you think of Blur, and, with all due respect, the image of Dave Rowntree is not one a gentleman should ever have to conjure with when pleasuring a lady. As it turns out, the woo-hoo is but the first in a series of off-putting genital euphemisms. On a boring R&B ballad called Sex for Breakfast, she refers to her lover's penis as his "honey drip", which doesn't sound right at all: there's something about the image of a penis dripping a honey-like substance that suggests he'd be better off skipping sex for breakfast and heading instead to the urologist. The most off-putting of all comes before the woo-hoo song is done: "All the boys think it's cake when they taste my woo-hoo." Battenberg? Swiss roll? Let's hope they don't think it's a stollen. They're full of yeast.

"Live" concert now streaming over at: http://towhomitmayconcern.cc/ There's some bs of a long car drive to endure first, but then it gets kind of awesome.

Things just keep getting stranger with each video release.
