Here's the new one, I think: http://hotfile.com/dl/30831598/f235823/Har...k_2010.rar.html

This album took me a little bit to warm up to, mainly because I was hearing it in pieces, but Christ, what an album. Intense.
Pavement Ist Rad
I just really, really like the bass drum sound.

poop. play the NW
monotony
I don't listen to this kind of music very much/ever, but I had a go at this the other day. One of the most brutally intense things I've ever listened to.
pigfuck
and this is one of their poppy albums!

you hear funereal doom dirges; I hear "Hit Me Baby One More Time".

that's not true at all, actually, sorry for the lies

monotony
Listening to it right after the Katy Perry album probably wasn't the wisest idea.

Sweet. Ticket purchased. 529 is the tiniest club in town, holds maybe 150 people, should be fun.

HA! But really it does seem more accessible after a few listens. Particularly the last track.
Pavement Ist Rad
"I Know This Is No Place For You" is a total hit.
UselessRocker
"I Know This Is No Place For You" is really the only one that works as a standalone song, outside of the album context. "I Did Not Call Out" is almost pointless to listen to if you're not gonna listen to the entire album.

I agree that they work better as a whole, but "I Did Not Call Out" is pretty amazing on its own.
Pavement Ist Rad
Well, it's still great, obviously, but that "SLOOOOWWWWLYYYYYY SHEEEEE GAAAAHHHHTTTTTTT UHHHHHPPPPPP" part isn't quite the same without all the shit that comes before it.
Doolidles
Seeing these guys tonight. Normally I would bring ear plugs to a show like this, but I feel like it'd be a real loss to mute all of feedback related nastiness Harvey Milk do so well. Shit's going to be legendary.
Burz
Show last night was crazy good. Opened with the new album in it's entirety. Then we got a bunch of Pleaser songs plus "Merlin Is Magic" and "Motown". Encore of "Crush Them All", "War" and a fantastic cover of "Hey Jude". I'm convinced that there is no better live rock band on the planet right now.
Pavement Ist Rad
Jesus christ, that sounds so fucking awesome.

I still can't stop thinking about how much I want to see them again.
Hans Christian Anderson
ugh. wanna see this band.
UselessRocker
I wondered how they were handling the new album live. Makes sense to just play the whole thing. I'd love to hear them do it live, but "a bunch of Pleaser songs plus "Merlin Is Magic" and "Motown". Encore of "Crush Them All", "War" and a fantastic cover of "Hey Jude"." is really what makes me jealous.
Pavement Ist Rad
otm, that Pleaser part seals it.

Throw in a couple more Special Wishes deep cuts and it's like they're writing their setlists with me in mind.
Doolidles
Last night's set was largely the same as the one in Atlanta's (new album, loads of Pleaser, a few choice picks off of Life, Hey Jude as the closer), but with a few really sweet surprises. Namely, the encore where they played Brown Water with guest guitarist Paul Trudeau. Just a fucking astounding song- like floating in space while simultaneously being pummeled to the ground. The whole set was pretty much perfect, but that one made it special.

I dunno if it was just me, but there was a sense of finality to this tour. The interview that Spiers had with the alternative paper in Athens suggested that they were on the verge of another break up (although a most amicable one), and the fact that they recorded the show and that their old drummer played with them on the last few songs made it feel like it was one for the history books. It'd be a real shame, if that is the case. I've seen all of the performances on the Anthem DVD and now I've seen two shows from this summer tour, and they seem tighter and rawer than they have, lack of sledgehammes be damned.

Pavement Ist Rad
I hope to god that you are wrong. At least until they play Chicago again.
Burz

YES.

The soloing at the end of Hey Jude= Some real soulful shit, man.

What a show.
Doolidles
Fans should really download those bootlegs if they haven't already...

Pavement Ist Rad
I was rocking the shit out of the 9/8 show a few weeks ago.

Dangerously fucking good.
