http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=...&id=7322384His career was over before I was born, but I've seen enough shitty 90's direct to video movies , episodes of Roboth Chicken and Lost Boys to know who he is.
I imagine this is bigger news for those who grew upon under the dictatorship of the Two Coreys over the hearts of every girl they ever liked.

Too bad he could never get clean. I remember the stories of him selling his teeth on Ebay.

Usually when we call death "sad," we mean it's sad for us, the survivors. Though I'm sure his Mother and others grieve, I think this one may be most sad for he who feels it not. He had so much promise in Lucas, but wasted it all. Probably wouldn't have transitioned to a successful adult film career - hard enough to stay current and in demand at any age - but to end up being the walking, talking emblem of the excesses of child stardom; to end up the butt of so many jokes; to seem a perfect characterization of all that was worst in '80s excess; cannot have been a pleasant way to get through life.
I imagine him to have been mostly miserable. Perhaps his end was a relief, but if an afterlife exists it is difficult not to imagine Haim in it, mourning the senseless waste of his own talent and promise.

Anyone else find it amusing that a board participant with only 9 posts felt compelled to start a Corey Haim death thread?

yes - this was unbelievably shocking. Liked him in "Lucas" but that kid was pretty much worthless as an actor and movie star.

Haim kinda looked like a lesbian. Then I read his bio and discover he was Canadian by birth. Go figure.

Starting to come out now that he had the increasingly popular "flulike symptoms" and had been taking multiple medications. According to his agent and some family, he was staying clean and had signed on for a couple of projects. Hmm.

Shit, I didn't know he was the kid in "Lucas". What a waste.
Damn if Hollywood shouldn't set up a fucking "mentorship" program for childhood stars so they stop dropping like the cliches they are.
