The T.A.M.I show archives were recently released on DVD for PBS (march 2010). Last night I saw James Brown freak the fucking shit out of my TV.
Seriously, both Prince and Michael Jackson (posthumously) should be writing checks to the James Brown estate as gratuity for their blatant soulful plagiarism.

Has anybody else seen these video clips!?! Brown was moonwalking, doin' twisties, the splits, one-footed-duck walks... The guy was pure power. Absolutely & beautifully unbelievable.

I can't up video from my mac. If someone could up this vid, that'd be swell.

I'm tempted to go through the whole deal on what makes this statement, esp. use of the word 'plaigarism' so wrongheaded, but what would be the point?

You don't really care. You probably already know that MJ and Prince continue in JB's tradition, that continuation isn't plaigarism and every other argument I might make. I've no idea why you emulate Monty and Jigga, AP, but I feel sorry that you have no method of social interaction independent of offending and being as ignorant as possible. You seem to always need an edge, or the upper hand, just to talk to people. You provoke rather than elicit. I know all about how negative attention is better than none at all, but if you hadn't yet noticed people around here ignore you no matter what you say, or how.

I take it back: I know exactly why you emulate these characters. If you just started a thread celebrating JB, people would probably ignore it outside of a few token comments. You'd take it personally; you'd think you're being treated unfairly. But if you throw in some dumb, indefensible statement like the one above, why, by god, they'd have to pay attention!

I predict your flamebait commentary still won't get you a full page's worth of response.

Let me know how it works out for ya.

yea that was pretty good. have a dvd of james from '71 in paris but it (he) just doesn't have the same energy. re prince: always thought he came out of the splits w much more grace than james brown ever did. so did the nicholas bros. but that's another dance for another night.

Caught the end of this on PBS last night. JB was crazy great. The Stones were really good too. Funny, Jagger was immulating JB a good bit, moving mostly from the hips down. Before he started dancing around a la Tina Turner. Several songs he just stood there and sang. When I see the Stones of today I often wish he would just settle down and sing a few songs standing still so we could focus on that voice which was and still is one of the best in rock. Still, at this show I wonder how JB felt about these youngsters from the UK closing out the show when he was clearly the bad ass on this roster.
Jigga
JB is the GOAT of everything. But i have said that a million times round here so whats the point in repeating myself. glad these newjacks are realising that.

Last time I saw this film was in a theater sometime in '80, '81 maybe. I don't remember Tarantino or Ruben being in it.

Real genius on Sting's part to rhyme the 2nd line with the same words, eh?

Finally watched this tonight..was prepared to be blown away by James and underwhelmed by the Stones.

But if anything, I thought JB was a little frantic and over-choreographed, whereas the Stones come on with total swagger, looking like they just rolled out of bed, then blow the place apart. Mick really was magnetic back then.
