Has anyone heard this thing yet? Duo from upstate New York that just released their debut on Barsuk, sounds a lot like early Massive Attack updated to 2010, with a bit of the Radio Dept. or My Bloody Valentine in there somewhere. The songs where the girl sings are incredible, and while the dude's songs don't pack the same (soothing, warm, and inviting) punch as hers, they're still pretty solid. Definitely one of my favourite records of the year so far, excited to see them tonight in Toronto. Surprised there isn't already a thread on this, I figure a lot of folks on this board would dig 'em. I can upload the album if anyone wants.

Here's an in-studio performance of the first single, Mouthful of Diamonds.

Is this a 2010 release? I've had this since fall of 09. I really liked it too.
n.k
cool song. I'll be checking out the album.
Papa's Delicate Condition
Unfortunately, that's their only good song.

It may be their best, but I'd say that Bloody Palms, When I'm Small, Running From the Cops, and As Far as I Can See are all pretty great too. They were really good last night but the guy mixing bass'd it out way too much... the mix was like a stadium hip-hop show in a tiny little club. The sound issues got sorted out towards the end of the set, and When I'm Small killed it.

Here's the album:

Is it a 2009 release? Everywhere has it listed as a 2010er...

It's 2010.

I haven't sat down and listened to the whole thing straight through yet but I've been hooked on a couple tracks from this for a while. Really interesting sound.

Came across this band in January via the weekly free song (iTunes) cards available at Starbucks. Usually I seldom get around to redeeming these free tracks but in the case of these guys they looked cool and I dug the name so I went ahead and redeemed. The track was "Mouthful of Diamonds". I instantly dug it, reminded me of Metric which is one of my favorite current bands.

Spun the full record on Lala today and liked it quite a bit.
