Some Girl
Anyone ever had anything like this happen?

And where do you go from there (i.e. drug recommendations to wash out coherent thought while having ;) with said person)?

Edit: Of course, it's gotta be some kind of looks preference due to familiarity... that MUST be the explanation. It MUST.

this might be a good time for you to put into effect an "i only date only children" rule.

No one's ever confused me for their sister, no... wink.gif

It's probably nothing. If you bring it up to him, he'll at most say, "Oh... how bout that?"
Some Girl
He brought it up.

not me, but I met a girl_friend's boyfriend for the first time and was surprised how much he looked like the girl's brother. I almost commented as such but remembering about how creepy that would sound, I luckily restrained myself in time.

The next day, I saw the girl again and she asked me what I thought of her boyfriend. Remembering that I had neglected to tell her about her bf's similarity to her brother but forgetting the reason why, I mentioned it. Whoops.

It doesn't actually bug me. He and I say shit like this all the time in jest to shock eachother so when he told me, "My mom says all my girlfriends have looked like my sister," I said, "No, way." And then I saw the pictures. It's actually kind of soothing. At least I know his favorite look is my look.

I mention all this 'cuz I wanted to get on to the bigger topic. People tend to seek out the phyzical attributes of their parents/females/males in the family. F.E. guys that grew up around well-endowed women will reject Hollywood skinny in a girl. I'll admit it: I like lean, tall, and a distinct nose probably because my dad has all that. This isn't new news, I just want to know who can fess up to it. Compare your gal's T&A to your moms.

____
EDIT: WTF, it won't let my type the word phyzical (purposely spelled wrong). It puts the word phy'all send the thing'cal every time. See it just did it. So I used a 'z' instead. Rufus...
Duff.
Huh. I guess the letters for Why Ess Eye are replaced on the forum. Even in the context of a word.

As for the topic, no one I've dated has particularly looked like my mother. My current girlfriend is actually pretty close to opposite.

Look. There's a distinction - its a known issue people go out with people that remind them of their mothers/fathers, but this sister thingy is different, and just not as common. It means he's attracted to his sister phy'all send the thingcally, but thats it (unlike the oedipal or Electra complex, that bring up more elaborate issues). Now, you can say its just a coincidence, but you mentioned a couple of times when he brought it up, and that he discussed it thoroughly: "My mom says all my girlfriends have looked like my sister". So that means three things:

- He is aware of his behaviour/tendency.
- He's not ashamed of it.
- He feels the need to share and discuss it with you.

I don't know the person, and this is only a message board, but my take is that he actually sees the fact you're looking like his sister as an advantage. He knows he'd like to have sex with his sister, or at least he knows it to some degree, and fulfills this fantasy through the girls he's dating with. It's not as sick as it sounds.

It's a good thing he's aware. It's great he put that to discussion - this way you're more comfortable with it than you would be if he didn't. If you'd be creative enough you could also improve your sex life with some role-playing. Think about it smile.gif

Most of the porn I look at bears no resemblance to my family.

EDIT: Gosh SG, trying to come up with a post in the threads you make is challenging.

SG, in my case, it is another oppisite deal.

My mom and sisters are short, flat chested, and thin with dark curly shorter hair. My gf is tall, big chested and has long light hair.
without_opinion
complete opposite for me as well. mother's taller & more endowed than any girl i've ever dated. they've all had similar personality attributes, but phsyically there's no resemblance.

almost every girl i've been interested in looks nothing like my mother, i like the short foreign girls. doesn't mean they aren't usually the same brand of crazy as my mom, though.

so was he tagging you from behind when he said "wow, I never noticed how much you look like my sister!"?

yeah, that's kind of weird.
Johnny Feathers
I'd say only one girl I've dated looked similar to my mom--similar hair, anyway. It was a fairly unremarkable relationship. Sparks were not there. So I ended it.

How does a [insert race/ethnicity/religion] mom know when her daughter had her first period?

I kind of have this with my fiance, who looks like one of my sisters. I didn't consciously notice it until my sisters pointed it out; but I have three sisters, who range in height from 5'2" to 6'0"; and they all have different hair colors (blonde, dark brunette, and reddish-brown), and very different body types...so as long as my girlfriends are white, there's a decent chance they may resemble one of my sisters (and my fiance is really the first girlfriend that has strongly resembled one of my sisters, so I wouldn't say there was a pattern).

yes, but you didn't ask any of the other GFs to MARRY you!

i can honestly say that it would be a turnoff if a girl resembled anyone i was related to. i'd even extend that to behavioral similarities

That's true, but the lack of marriage proposals had nothing to do with their looks; and everything to do with their personalities (and my immaturity). Personality-wise, I would also say that my fiance is very different from my 3 sisters. Oh yeah, and the first time my sister brought it up, I literally got nautious (hope I'm not sounding too defensive).

I dated someone for a while before I noticed how much she looked like me aunt. My aunt is a total bitch. Me and the girl I was dating broke the next weekend.

shit, this post is great. i'm not sure how right you are but i'm not going to discount it.

i'm playing a game with him tomorrow night. we're going to a lezdancething, scream club. when we go out, we always play 'pick the '3 most attractive girls' in the room to see if his match up with mine and we always pick at least 2 of the same. this will be a good segue into asking about your theory.

Yeah. She was c-word level bitch. And I reserve use of that word only for the most extreme cases, like heat of the moment why did you cheat on me you so and so. She would have never survived my family or father. So I put her down before she had to endure that kind of misery.
