As GKI pointed out in the Thread Which Is Dead To Me Now, Kiefer has indeed signed on for another three years.

Which means that they will probably kill him off this season and bring him back for flashbacks from here on out.

As for last night's episode: (SPOILER CENTRAL, BITCHES) :

They haven't made the leap, Logan-wise. The jury's still out on that one.

The banker should've been wearing a red shirt, and judging from the previews, maybe Bill Devane should, too.

What time is Idol on tonight? Do you think that Freddie Mercury's ghost will inhabit Simon's body? If so, will Freddie/Simon start making out with Randy Jackson?

I expected more from you. Then again, it's early enough that you might not have had your coffee. I'm sure you'll break out your A game later.

Once again, you overestimate my abilities. I have no "A" game. I merely have a game.

Using a lower-case "a" only belies the humility of the superior mind. Which belies superior abilities. Which were not demonstrated earlier.

Dear Mo Slack

What the fuck are you talking about?

Love and kisses,

I would just like to thank NumberTenOx for helping me to successfully threadjack my own thread.

Threadjackasses.

In other news...when the hell do Kim and C.(reepy) Thomas Howell make their awkward re-introduction?

from what I've heard, they don't.

and where the hell is Mike Novick?

If Kim and Creepy don't come back, that was a completely useless cameo. (And a waste of nubile Canadian talent.)

And Mike Novick is probably off planning for Laura Palmer's dad to assume the presidency. (Four presidents in four seasons, people--and one was a terrorist!)

It's time for President Bauer, the gun-toting, Damnit!-screaming, terrorist-stopping leader of the free world.
Uncle Remus
What season did I miss that had a presidential terrorist?

And what is this red shirt business?

And what are you saying about Jack dying and coming back in flashbacks because Kiefer's signed for three more years?

I love how he signed for three years in the week that the Rolling Stone interview went up. Nothing like conflicting messages. Seemed like he was just about done with the show.

In order: this year, the Star Trek maxim that held that guys who went with the away team who wore red shirts almost always died that episode, and I've always thought that 24's bag of tricks (surpises-wise) is kinda played out so the only place to go is to kill off Jack. (Which, of course, they would never do. Which is why I was being facetious.)

And I'd be willing to bet that the Rolling Stone negativity was part of what he might have been guessing would be a longer negotiating process.

They keep doing little things to piss me off on this show. They don't even TRY to pretend it's real time anymore. Like last night when Jack and Dwayne pull into the hotel. Two seconds after they park the car, they're entering the hotel room carrying the girl and her baby. It takes forever to check in to a hotel room sometimes not to mention finding your room, the nearest liquor store, etc.

Also, when did this new score/soundtrack rear it's ugly head with a cheesy drum machine and electric guitar? I want to at least pretend I'm not watching a cheesy Fox drama -- bring back the ominous score please.

As for Kim, she;ll turn up in episode 22 or so, most likely kidnapped by wolves.

Kind of had "Peter Gunn" feel; and it was definitely a little cheesey, but I kind of dug it.

About last night . . .

C'mon, would a president ever commit crimes that endangered or killed Americans just to protect or advance his own self-interest while thinking or claiming to be doing it for the betterment of the country?!

Mitchell
Thank the lord I don't have to scroll through posts about The OC and American Idol. Thanks Slackster.

Yeah last night's episode was a bit predicatble, you knew Amy would phone up about Evelyn as soon as Henderson was told that 911 calls were being monitered and they would end up at the back and after all the stuff about the Bloc Party album it would get set off and the police would be on the way. Logan's behaviour now that we know is going to seem more interesting and good to see Secretary Heller back on the show, you just knew he was going to arrive next week though.

I think Chlöe is pushing her luck a little too much and she will get caught next time and not be able to explain it. 7 episodes to go though and we still have a lot to get through.
Slackmo
Kinda looking forward to the Chloe torture scene. Yes, this makes me a bad person.
Mitchell
Expect to still say "What do you want?" and pout all the way through.
Slackmo
What's the likelihood Jack gets to clock the president before the season's over? 50% 75%?

How about as soon as tonight? 15% 25%?

I hope she wears something sexy.
Slackmo
Lamest episode in a while. Nothing really happened--just some treading water and prepping for what should be a decent show next week.

Weller's a sinister bastard. Wonder if they'll try to keep him around for a season or two--seems like a good nemesis for Jack.
The Good Dr Bill
President Logan couldn't possibly still be hoping to get away with the conspiracy at this point, could he? There are practically dozens of loose ends at this point, something's gotta give.
Uncle Remus
I guess the 20 minutes at the end I caught was enough. Weller is a damn fine villain.
rudayo
OK, so we got the explanation. But I thought it was lame. I'll hang around for now since it looks like things will pick up again next week.

tweed
Weird, I thought this was the best episode of the season. Not so much for plot advancement but there weren't any filler scenes like there's been in the past. Everything moved along and there was some good tension. Reminded me what I like about the show.
nobodies
I'm really digging where the show is going. You can only do so many nuclear/biochemical/viral threats with a ticking clock. Sure it's outlandish, but so are cell phones that never run out and convenient info leaks at every crucial moment.
Slackmo
Glad they didn't have Audrey pull the trigger, but...

is any character less in danger of getting killed off (besides Jack) as Peter Weller's Henderson? I'm putting him at two seasons, minimum. He's the perfect nemesis for Jack--all of Jack's unscrupulousness, all of his knowledge, and a misguided sense of patriotism.

Also, if Bill Devane lives this show will officially have jumped the guard rail.
sin city
Jack gets to hijack a plane next. WHEEEEEEE!!!!

Love this show more every week.

Yeah, that's a strange-ass move for Fox, with United 93 releasing in theaters and 24's storied intital delay for 9/11. But, of course, he'll be hijacking a plane to stop a terrorist, so it's cool.

Between Henderson and Logan, did we really need the gay kid from Fame as an additional bad guy?

They're going to whack Logan- he's losing control of the situation and has become a loose end himself. The irony is that he'll rely on Jack to save him.

the "gay guy from Fame" was also on E.R. as well as in...get this..."Robocop" with one Peter Weller as the dude who got the vat of acid spilled on him at the end.

Robocop's a good pickup, fella. Nice one.

But E.R. ended when Kellie Martin joined the cast. Do you hear me? It never happened.
Mitchell
THERE'S A MOTHERFUCKING BAUER ON THE MOTHERFUCKING PLANE!!!!!
Mitchell
On Jack's day off, he and Edgar would shoot hoops and get ice cream together. Later, they'd prank call Chloe, only to have her trace the call, call them back and tell them to "grow up". Good times... good times.

I'd put this up there with the first two seasons.

I agree that this season is up there with at the very least the 2nd season. They can never replicate the brilliance of the first season. The fact that you just couldn't predict Victor Drazin was still alive and Jack's wife getting offed? Great stuff.
Mitchell
I bet Heller's not dead either.
The Good Dr Bill
Devane's dead, I'll bet large amounts of money on it. It was obvious episodes ago that his time on the show was about to come to an end, and I really don't think the producers are dumb enough to bring him back at this point.

Although, the possible image of him showing up to rescue Jack at the last second (the way Tony did in 4) in sopping wet clothes with seaweed and dirt in his hair is too funny to pass up.
Mitchell
I love the way that we saw the car go off, we saw Jack's PDA image and Audrey standing a few yards behind finds out about her father's death (still not 100% sure) by Jack saying.

"Chloe, can you confirm Senator Heller drove his car off the cliff?"

biggrin.gif
The Good Dr Bill
It would've been a lot funnier if he had been driving in the city or a heavily-populated suburban area when he got Jack's call.

"Chloe, can you confirm that Secretary Heller drove his car into the Loew's Multiplex?"
kingsleadhat
That scene reminded me of cheesy 80s action shows that always ended chases with a car flying off a cliff. You know, the kinds of shows Family Guy references on occasion
Mitchell
Did no-one watch this last night? It was great. Love Chlöe and the guy hitting on her ZAP! Bauer on a plane pretty much makes SOAP a moot point. The way he knocked out the air marshall and slipped the pillow in!

I think it was one of my top ten episodes ever.

Surely Jack can play the recording down the phone now so whoever can stop the President can hear it.
