The file looks fine from that Eluvium link, but I won't be able to listen until tomorrow.
Thanks, Caley!

God I really can't stand the simple clunky piano lines Eluvium has been throwing into everything post-Talk Amongst the Trees (one of my favorite ambient albums ever). The keys really stick out and distract from what would otherwise be great droney ambient.

BTW, this is a couple weeks old, but Stereogum has the first mp3 released from the new Tim Hecker album and is pretty awesome.
New Tim Hecker leaked and it's pretty badass. I'm particularly in love with 'In the Fog II', 'Studio Suicide' and 'In the Air II'. Need to get a nice proper CD version of this.
Dustin O'Halloran - Lumiere: On a whim I downloaded this the other day (Off a blog that recommended it) and is SO goddamned beautiful. I dunno if it's really ambient, not really, I suppose. It's mainly piano and some strings, but it's just bawl your eyes out gorgeous.
Here's a Youtube of my favourite one, I've played it over and over the past week.
Julia Kent - Green and Grey: Also been digging this one, though it's not strictly ambient either, more nouveau classical or some shit, but it's mainly cello and really good.

Enveloping orchestral drone, somewhere between Stars of the Lid and The Caretaker. Pity it's so short.

Two short ambient releases I listened to today.
Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier - Tropical Malady: Interesting mix of drone and chanting and ambient background noise. Apparently it's a sonic exploration of the film of the same name, though I still haven't seen it.
Dead Drums - Fashion Defence/Human Hair: Really neat stuff: ambient drone, soundscapes, the occasional faded skittering beat. At times it sounds like listening to AM radio with the dial between two dueling stations. Haunting and interesting.

Also, the new Caretaker is floating around. This cut below is probably the most optimistic thing he's ever penned, but most of it is still pretty damn dark.

Thanks so much. I often think i'm the only one around these parts that loves Loscil. He's crazy underrated even in electronic/ambient circles. Its probably his (Scott Morgan) fault as he never tours. I read somewhere that he's a committed family guy so good for him in that respect. I believe his young daughter took the picture for the cover of his last album Endless Falls.

Have you heard this, Helmet? I'm all about disc 2. Tons of great microsound tracks, including one great opener by Loscil.

I've never had a Loscil album quite hit home with me. Like the new one is good, but I don't feel blown away by it.
The new Caretaker is interesting. It would work great as a soundtrack to someone wandering through a post-appocalyptic landscape/haunted mansion, snatches of music start and stop and start and stop.
But the best new ambient-ish release I've heard recently is definitely this.
Leyland Kirby - Intrigue and Stuff Vol. 1: which is sorta a mix of traditional ambient drone-y stuff with Tangerin Dream-esque keyboards.
Unfortunately, my favourite track (Video 2000) isn't on Youtube, so you'll have to listen to these short ones

I think this is my favorite from that album. Unnerving, but so damn catchy. I find myself walking around whistling it.

If anyone still reads this thread, you must check out the Deaf Center record "Owl Splinters". Its so much my favorite record this year that its not even close.
Blanck Mass - Blanck Mass: Epic drone/ambient album by one half of Fuck Buttons. Maybe my favourite ambient album of the year.

I'm blaming the SOMB ambient folks for not making me aware of this before I turned it up on a random blog (Seeing as I don't read Pitchfork either). It's an 18 minute EP that reminds me a lot of tracks you'd hear on 'Endless Summer'.

Tim looks for one of the most incredible organs in the world that he can play for free for everyone. Free show in Wisconsin saturday - I cant wait to see.

I made some typos in yesterday's post. Here's the famous organ that Tim Hecker is playing next weekend in Appleton, Wisconsin. I'm going to make the trip - free show, why not? Apparently, Tim is making the trip just so he can play on it.
Helmet do you know if he lives in Wisconsin? Just curious.

lol. You can tell a thread is kinda dead when a pic I posted 9 months ago is only getting complained about now! Nevertheless, had no idea it was so large, myself, deleted.

No, i'm fairly sure he's lived the majority of his life in Montreal.
