The Zapper looked alright, though I couldn't comprehend why people were clapping and cheering when the $19.99 price point was announced. It's an appropriate price, but not really something to get worked up about. You're paying for a couple dollars of plastic, tops.
On a break during my slew of Microsoft meetings. They rented out the entire Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica... ridiculous. Saw a bit of Halo 3 campaign/etc; looks better than the beta. Just saw and played a bit of Fable 2 and met Peter Molyneux.

So once it's all said and done, Andy, please report what games were the best of those you actually go to try.
Assassin's Creed's demo looked so hot. My anticipation of that game jumped to just being behind the obligatory GTAIV top spot.

Will do, eventually. As of now, my most anticipated games were ones I saw a the pre-E3 gigs (Rock Band, Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise), but I've seen/played some hot shit in the last day-plus. Mass Effect, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet & Clank Future, Halo Wars...
I also saw a really cool PlayStation Network title called Everyday Shooter, which I just wrapped a preview for. Should be popping up on WorthPlaying within the hour.

Looked spectacular. Wasn't playable, but they gave us a demonstration and I was hugely impressed. It hadn't really been on my radar before because I'm not a BioWare buff, but it looks to be a must-buy. Too bad it's dropping during the Christmas season; I think it'd have a better chance now or early next year.

I got a chance to play about 15 minutes of this yesterday, and while I'm also not a PC gamer, there are some really impressive touches in this game. Overall, I wasn't as blown away by the foliage and environments; what really caught me were the crabs walking along the sea floor. Really astounding stuff.

My 360 crapped out on me and now I have to get it switched. What I want to know is, when I take this to Gamestop and they "give me a new one" like the guy on the phone said, will they transfer my save data to the new hard drive for me?

I'm very very happy to be a 360 owner at this point. It seems like I have a game to buy every month from now until the end of the year, and I'm also prepared to have a few surprise me along the way. As of right now, it looks something like this.
August- Madden 08
September- Halo 3
October - GTA 4
November/December- Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3
I love my Wii, I really do, but even with heavyweights like Mario and Smash Bros. coming out this year, I think Microsoft still has my attention more than Nintendo. For now, at least.

I'm with you. Between Halo 3, Half-Life Orange Box and Bioshock, my 360 is going to get a lot of usage over the 3rd and 4th quarters.
That being said, it's been pretty much dormant since the end of the Halo 3 Beta. Wii has been almost exclusively used over the past month with a leisurely pace in RE4, lots of Wii Sports (longevity of this game is astounding), and some VC Super Mario Brothers and Gradius. And with Mario Super Strikers dropping next week, Wii dominance will continue unabated until . . . August 21st.

The more I procrastinate choosing either a 360 or a PS3, the more I can't decide. I am not the biggest fan of FPS, so the only game I really want on 360 that's exclusive is Mass Effect. Rachet and Clank, Uncharted, and Heavenly Sword are all getting me to lean towards PS3. What's really getting me excited more than any of these games is Rock Band, GTA4, and I guess Assassin's Creed, so no matter what I have to choose one by the fall. What's more appealing, 100 bucks off PS3(temporarily), or 50 bucks off 360(rumor via joystiq, kotaku)?
Mario Stikers(git your codes ready) and Picross next week! Can't wait for Prime 3 either.

Put me down for BioShock, Halo 3, Guitar Hero III, GTAIV, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, and Rock Band.

If you're a Tony Hawk guru, Skate's gonna be a huge adjustment. I spent maybe five, ten minutes with it last month and couldn't pull off shit.
Mass Effect looks unbelievable. Wasn't on my radar until I was given a demonstration at E3.
And I think I've said enough about Rock Band already. Easily my most anticipated game of the next whenever. Can't wait to get on those drums again.

the more I read about GTA IV, the more excited I get. Seriously, reading ign's 45-minute demo they watched, it excited me to no end. Seems like it is going to be an absolutely mammoth game. The only problem they mentioned was slowed down frame-rate during shooouts, but said that Rockstar seemed confident this would be fixed in the final version.
If this is half as good as I anticipate, then yeah, game of the decade.

The complete lack of excitement for Half-Life 2 Orange Box around here needs to be fixed, hahaha.
For $60 you get 5 games. 5 games. Half-Life 2 was a great release on the old XBOX that got buried because it came out just before the 360 launched. If you missed it (and aren't a PC gamer, its worth going back to.) Its by far the most sophisticated and immersive FPS I've ever played. That's in the package, as are its two (shorter) sequals Half-Life 2 Chapter 1 and Half-Life 2 Chapter 2.
Plus, you get two multiplayer-only Live games that, according to what I've read over at IGN and 1up, have those in the know pretty excited. Team Fortress 2 and Portal.
I've been salivating over this footage for the better part of a year. If you haven't seen it, its from HL2.C2. In-game, as there are no cutscenes in the entire series. Everything is real time.

I have a Wii. The plan had been to pick up a PS3 when it had more games out, was cheaper, and hopefully went under a cost reduction redesign (knowing the dangers of buying rev. 1.0 harware as shown by the XBox 360). But after E3 I may have to drop my PS3 plans and think about the XBox. The game lineup (esp Fallout 3 on the horizon) and the existing XBox live setup are strong draws.

It's something I plan on buying (maybe not until after Christmas, though), but I'm not like OMGPUMPED about it. I wish they'd gotten it out before the glut of holiday releases. I never played Half-Life 2 on PC (had the Xbox version, but it ran like shit on the 360), so I'm definitely planning on getting this... eventually.
Saw Portal and a bit of Episode II at E3. Portal looks really interesting, but it seems short-lived.

Nintendo has been lame since the holidays. The good games for the Wii are on the horizon. The DS calender was killed by the Pokemon launch. And the game industry is getting increasingly focused on the holiday season. We got nothing now, but will be deluged with games come October/November/December.

Yeah, 3Q and 4Q are going to be nuts with releases. You gotta wonder why some developer doesn't come out with a AAA title in June/July, as opposed to getting swallowed up in the logjam that is September thru December. Maybe they fear that kids game less in the summer w/ school out and all the summer vacation activities. Who knows.

coming from a guy who pretty much thinks all sports games suck dick besides ice hockey and blades of steel for NES, this thing is the real deal. Way too arcade-esque to even begin to be called a soccer game, it's so offense-based it's hilarious.

I'm sad to report that the Wii has been my least-used console of 2007 (so far) by a wide margin. The only game I still own (besides Wii Sports) is Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, and I've only put a few hours into that. WarioWare was cool for a couple hours, Super Paper Mario was kinda okay for a couple hours... otherwise, it's been pretty dusty.
