GH III is much harder IMO than the last two, but also better.
multiplayer is so sick!

i have always sucked at smash bros because i never owned a 64 or gamecube. also, the friends i would play it with were HUGE nintendo dorks. but now that i have a wii, i am pumped. and with today's announcement of a level editor, it actually prompted me to type out OMG to a friend. now all i ask is for Ness to be playable.

There is a character from the Mother/Earthbound series in Smash Bros named Lucas. Looks like he plays like Ness. Man, you have to be good if you use Ness. I think you're hustling.

GH III is awesome. I can't feel my ring finger anymore though, so that's worrysome.
hummingbird
Who can describe hammering on and pulling off better then the damn tutorial on GH III. I'm gonna be screwed any level higher than easy, aren't I?

that's how bad i was, i didn't realize ness sucked! personally i was a big fan of the electric ball that shot out of his head.

FUCK lucas, if nintendo isn't going to give us the fucking decency of a mother 3 translation, then keep the fucking character out of the game, it's like insult to fucking injury.

It's not that Ness sucks, it's just that he's a very tough character to use. If you can do that you have to use that PK Thunder move to recover when you get knocked off which is tough, and he's also really floaty which kinda leaves you vunerable, but I mean if you can use him he's a great character.

Amen. I don't understand what Nintendo is thinking. Oh yeah, they hate their fans now. If Alpha moms and grandparents show any interest in Mother/Earthbound, then we'll definitely see a new mini-game collection or something. Otherwise who knows if we'll see anything.

My neighbor just got Eye of Judgement and I've already spent $60 on cards for it. Anybody else playing this incredibly awesome and 100% geeky game?

Andyroo
Man, I'm so tempted to pick that up. I tried it out at an event in May and kinda dug it -- I'll probably end up liking the concept more than actually playing the thing, but that may be enough. Too many other games right now, though, and I'm reviewing two games (five versions total) this week, so I can't be bothered with it. :/
i-c
It's definitely a better experience to play in person with a friend than online. But both are pretty solid.

didnt know where else to post this but figured it should be posted somewhere so i can boost my ego.

I started a blog reflecting on the Mario series in commemoration of Galaxy's impending release. It can be found here: http://mariofarts.blogspot.com/

Cool idea. DK notwithstanding, are you limiting this to your above-defined "canon" games, or will you be branching into SM2 and the RPG and Paper Mario's, etc.? I assume canon, since the big N shoe-horns him into every title they can and that would be insane.
Undercooked Sausage
I plan to do "Donkey Kong,"
"Mario Bros,"
"Super Mario Bros"
"Super Mario Bros: Lost Levels"
"Super Mario Bros. 2"
"Super Mario Bros 3"
"Super Mario Land"
Super Mario World
Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins
Super Mario 64
Super Mario Sunshine
New Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Galaxy

I'm thinking about doings the Karts, but I dunno about RPG, it's fantastic, for sure, but it's more of a Square game.

and as far as my mario campaign is going, i beat 1, 3, world, and 64 all yesterday, started sunshine today, got 3 shines in, and was like "ehhh" this might be vicious because I don't have this one memorized like the others.
Damo Suzuki
My PS3 was gathering dust at home. So, I brought it to the office along with Ratchet & Clank. It's fantastic fun but I just can't get with the motion control/sixaxis bits. I'm crashing into everything like a drunken sailor on shore leave.
Andyroo
I've found the SIXAXIS bits to be pretty well implemented in the game. I think I'm about 2/3rds thought... got to a tough boss and stopped playing for a day, and now I'm busy reviewing other things.
Damo Suzuki
I just can't get a handle on the sixaxis stuff. It's what sunk Heavenly Sword for me.
Undercooked Sausage

my brother just sent me this, fuck, why did this game have to leak it's fucking killing me

My afternoon and evening thus far. If I'm lucky, I'll wrap it tonight and can review it in the afternoon tomorrow. Then I'll have to spend time with the Wii and PS2 versions over the weekend and tailor the review for those versions.
ParticleHustler
FYI, Cheapassgamer.com (CAG) is reporting that Toys R Us is going to have a deal in next weekend's (11/11) ad - buy Mario Galaxy, get a $25 gift card.
nobodies
Great deal, but why would Toys R Us do that. MG is sure to be one of the Wii's biggest hits. I guess they assume that people will bring the gift card back to do some holiday shopping or something like that, but it still seems like an odd move right before the Holiday season where there business is virtually guaranteed to soar.

I think it's that plus trying to get people who would typically buy at Best Buy to come to TrU.

I wish. I'm playing Bee Movie Game on Wii. Already played through the 360 version the other day, but this one was done by a different developer and is quite different. Fuck.
Amory
I haven't really played any video games as of late.
Now whenever I turn on my 360, I just private chat with a friend of mine and watch TV or a movie.

Video games are just getting boring I suppose. Waiting for SSB for the Wii and DMC for the 360.
Then I'll be happy again. =]

Best game I've played recently though was Odin Sphere on the Ps2. Check it out.
I beat it not too long ago.

Devil May Cry 4 is coming together nicely. Played the demo in April and was given a guided presentation last month in London. I'm not personally crazy about the series, but it'll be a huge release and something I'll likely play.

Got a new PC this week. Excellent, I thought, I can play Bioshock (I don't have an XBox and my 6 year old PC couldn't run it). Buy it, load it, run it -- no sound. Known issue with Vista and my sound chip (common to many new Dell systmes, so tons of people are having this problem). Developer has not released a patch. How many weeks has the game been out? Message boards say running game in XP compatibility mode will get sound back, but may lead to stability issues. I do this, sound works fine, but game crashes every 10 minutes or so for different reasons, making the game unplayable. Supposedly PC Gamer has an article where a Bioshock developer talks about how great the game runs on Vista.

I remember now why I gave up on PC gaming.

don't blame the PC platform for vista's inadequacies. Vista has sucked at running games since the day it came out. (no video drivers worked on it for one)

games are still great to play on xp/linux/osx*

*granted selection is limited on linux/osx

Downloaded the new Crysis demo.

OMFG. Never have I seen such an amazing looking game, the graphics are just incredible.

The game is set on this phillipine island, which makes it completely non-linear. For instance, the first part of the demo requires you to disable this GPS jammer down by the sea. You can go in all guns blazing, which will definitely raise the alarm meaning more guys will come through, or you can make use of the suit abilities (stealth, speed, strength etc) and go for quiet kills. Each method is amazingly rewarding.

The physics engine is superb aswell since it means that everything is detructable. At one point on the level there was a bunch of guys in this little hut. I activated strength mode, jumped on top of the hut and melee attacked the corrigated iron roof. The panel fell off and I threw a grenade in. I subsequenly jumped off and watched the whole building explode and barely dodged a falling piece of debris.

One of my best gaming moments ever.

Was wondering myself about Battalion Wars. Looks like it could be fun, but it seems like the online multiplayer is a big part of it, and I don't want to get it unless I have people to play with and no one I know has it.
scarymuppet
Speaking of multiplayer, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 for Wii has online multiplayer up to 16 v 16. This is gonna be like Return to Castle Wolfenstein all over again (i.e. playing it non-stop). BTW, anyone else only have the demo for RtCW and yet still play the multiplayer an assload when that came out?

BTW, does anyone know of any good game swapping service?
jasperjones
just played rock band over at best buy on my lunch break. i was only able to get to the drums. played 'sufragette city' on medium, then 'say it ain't so' on hard and lastly 'wave of mutilation' on expert. i earned myself between 87-92% or so on every track. it was incredible
Undercooked Sausage

downloaded it onto my wii at 11 am and ripped through every single level with no warps, only taking a ten minute lunch break, my fingers are raw. Is this the greatest game ever made?

Word on the street is that Toys R Us is going to give a $25 gift card w/ in-store purchase of Super Mario Galaxy. So I think I might be coming home with SMG and MoHH2 Tuesday.

They still make PS2 games?

I haven't even seen a PS2 in years. Thought that went the way of the VCR. An antiquity.
