just played through this piece of shit, fun for 2 hours, then you realize its the same thing over and over

it took mega patience to get to the end, so many cutscenes
Spiz
I was waiting to see your opinion of Assassin's since I saw you playing that shiz all the time instead of TF2. So it's as repetitive as everyone says it is? I still want to play it though. Definitely gonna rent it, or pick it up on the cheap.
Undercooked Sausage
i borrowed it from a friend, thank god i didn't buy it.
Andyroo
Bummed a smoke off the creative director of that game in Montreal.

Picked it up when it came out, but still haven't played it as much as I did on that preview trip. Kinda felt like I'd seen everything I needed (or wanted) to see in four hours.
Undercooked Sausage
wasnt the creative director of that game supposed to be hot or something

hopefully "bum a smoke" is some new fangled term for going balls deep
Andyroo
Ha, wrong director -- the creative director is a dude.

...the answer remains no.

the first full mp3 from the SSBB soundtrack leaked, and it's pretty fucking amazing.

WHEEEEEEEEE SKEET SKEET SKEET!
JeffTweedysFatStomach
I'm a former hardcore gamer who had his gaming lifestyle severely limited for years by roommates who camped in front of the TV. However, I'm out of school, making money, and on my own and ready to spend some good time gaming. I've got a aging PC, GameCube and 360 and am looking to game. Right now I'm almost done with The Witcher on PC, suffering through Assassin's Creed (might give up on this one) on 360, and occasionally playing Mario Sunshine on GC (the only game I own for the system).

I'm tempering all this with a franchise on NBA 2K8 and my girlfriend and I are working on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

I also own Halo 3, Oblivion, and I believe that is all.

What are some good games I can pick up? I'm not that big into FPS. Also, I can't handle games that will scare me (Bioshock, Resident Evil games).

Anyway, has anybody else had this happen? Am i Fucked? I really don't want to have to buy a new console. Do I have to? If so, can I get a cheap one somewhere now that it's kinda old technology.

You might be. At this point, the tech's so cheap that repair isn't really a viable option (might as well replace if necessary). A brand new one is $130; you can get a used older model for probably $80, though.

Ah, my old friend disc read error. Almost every one of my friends and myself suffered this at some point. The PS2 is basically a bucket full of cheap parts, Elco, so I wouldn't hold out much hope. If you see it having much more life with your kids I would splurge on a used newer model. Much more reliable. With the old PS2s I'd say breakdown after even a few months is a legit possibility.

actually, it's never said "disc read error". it worked beautifully, then suddenly stays on the system configuration screen and won't act as if there is a game inside. It's the slim version of the ps2. I did try to open it up and "clean the laser" but that didn't impact anything.

I called gamestop and asked what they pay for the ps2's - they told me $40. I asked how much the used ones are, they said $69 for the big one, $79 for the small one. Then when I showed up, they said mine was only worth $25 since it wasn't working, that the new one would be $99. I said Fuck You and now I'm back to the drawing board.

the damn console's barely a year old...

Finally got my free game from EA today. I almost forgot about it. Maybe this will get me off Puzzle Quest. I have no idea how I can play Puzzle Quest for hours, and lose track of time, but I do.

Anyone with a Wii tried Endless Ocean yet? I'm mildly interested based on a few things I've read about it. I think my 3 year old would really like it - easy, laidback "game play" (if you can call it that) plus sea creatures = interested toddler. From what I've read, you literally just float around discovering sea life with some loosely-fitting "goals" as the game. But the music is soothing and apparently you can even create a virtual fishtank for your TV with the creatures you've discovered.

Got this the other day and it's georgeous to look at. Not sure if it has the depth of CoH's but the sheer scale of things appeals to me. Plus its starts in Seattle and I've been pointing out places that I've actually been before eg. haha, there's the Space Needle etc

I am interested in this game for the same reasons. I think it's only $30, too.

Yep, $30. Although I saw it in a CC ad for $50. I hope that was a typo. If not, I know why that place is sinking like a stone.

Sausage, don't cry when I destroy you in Smash. It's only a game.
Undercooked Sausage
hahah, i mean this in a nice way, you're much more successful at life than i am, which nearly guarantees you stand no chance against me in smash bros.

the only person i'd worry about beating me in a fighting game is damo in Third Strike or Alpha 2.

Ah, but you forget I went to a nerd school. I was trained by people with no life outside of video games whatsoever.

Would an ISO actually work on a Wii?
Undercooked Sausage
well, yeah, if you have it chipped, just burn the iso to a dvd that it works with and you're good to go

game will almost undoubtedly have an update to it though, which means we might have to wait a few days before that gets cracked.

It's pretty good. Yeah.

But I thought the mission structure was too linear. The final battles in Russia are tactically tough though. I enjoyed those as you have to really use mixed units to win. Multiple fronts, shifting objectives, dynamic battlefields; good shit. Especially the tactical nuclear weapons.

MP is fun but a little bland.
Undercooked Sausage
I bought CoD4 for 40 bucks, lol, whos got this shit(360)
James D
It's pretty fun online and the whole ranking system is fun. But I just can't handle console fps's in general, especially online. I just crave for a mouse.

Its great fun being a sniper though seeing as though the camo actually conceals you in the grass etc.

The linearity is on the money, especially at the start of the campaign. Too much: go here, defend these points and such.

Havn't tried MP yet but I would suprised if it could hold a candle to CoH's online.

I should really get round to buying Crysis though. It's been out long enough.

I got one for X-mas. I enjoy using it from time to time and it works fine. For me, It can be very comfortable but it can also be very uncomfortable. I'm just not always in the mood for it. The right behind your ear sound is neat for a lot of games though. Excellent for FPS.
