Having a lot of fun playing D.I.P.R.I.P. right now. It's a Half-Life 2 mod that adds Twisted Metal/Auto Assault style vehicular combat. Only three maps are available but it's fun as hell.

What do you mean with how long? How long it takes to get repaired or how in between broken Xbox's? Well last time took me 3 or so weeks to get repaired ( a significant improvement on the 1-2 months for the first time).

As far as how long it took the Xbox to break. I had it repaired just before Christmas. WHats that 3 months? And it barely gets played.

Seriously though, I'm about done with 360. The only time I ever play it these days is Pro evo soccer with mates, apart from that I just stick to my PC which I find infinitely more fun. It's just not worth the hassle.

On a really cool sidenote. I'm home for easter and have internet. This can mean only one thing = TEAM FORTRESS!!!!!!!!!!!! Steam is updating as I speak. Seems like there's quite a lot of new stuff.

funnily enough i am struggling within about what console to get out of ps3 and 360

360 has the shoot em ups, cash advantage and live arcade
ps3 has the killerer media hub capabilities (a big thing for my consideration)
both have possibility of optical cables
360 apparently has a shit d-pad (i like fighting games)
ps3, as it stands, has no backcompat
ps3 has blu-ray
etc

for numerous reasons wii isn't in the running as of now

I should probably point out that I have one of the very first xbox's. The ones which were plagued with problems. So if you're planning on buying new, you shouldn't have many technical problems (touch wood).

-G ames wise, 360 is amazing. So many great titles which are available, plus for the future. I personally think it edges the ps3 in this department.

- It does have optical audio. My dad splurged on a 1080p - surround system for Christmas and it's absolutely incredible with surround sound. I wish I was home more often because CoD4 is just stupidly good fun.


I think I'm just experiencing something which I never thought would happen, losing interest in games. I havn't bought a new game since World In Conflict which was months ago. I played on it for what, 2-3 hours and then never again? I reckon when I get my 360 back from repair, it's going straight up for sale. I played Brawl from 8pm-2am last night completely burnt and drowned at a friend's house, it was really fun. Marth is the man

I've lost interest in a lot of games, but for some reason I'm re-addicted to Warcraft 3 online. The variety and complexities etc in online multiplayer is really awesome. If Starcraft 2 is even 3/4 as good, I am all the fuck over that.

As far as interests go for me. It's music and football which are constants and then behind it, gaming. But now, thats tailed off even more and is level with reading and playing instruments which usually fluctuate quite a bit.

I am also a Marth loyalist. I've never played a game with him in it, but I like the way he fights. His recovery is fairly appaling though, especially since I learned the ropes playing as Kirby in Melee. I've been swapping between Marth, Kirby, DeDeDe, Pit and Sonic in my search for a main. I really like the feel of Sonic, but I'm having trouble getting any solid smashes out of him. Pit is pretty fantastic and his blade spin is wonderful to spam, and yet I feel nothing for him. I'm not too fond His final smash either. DeDeDe has some nice power shots, but they can be a bitch to set up with his slowness. His final smash is endlessly entertaining. My fundamentals are probably strongest with Kirby, and I almost always pick him in a real challenge. Seems like he's a bit limited though, and his final smash is weak sauce. I used to play as Ganondorf a lot, but they've made him unforgivably slow in this edition. Controlling him is about as pleasant as hauling a 30 pound bag of shit.

haha we unlocked sonic last night and had a 4person all sonic game. none of us really knew who was who or what was going on, so we just played with spinning and seeing how high we could jump. you can hop off some1 else's spring and one of us ended up jumping off the map

pit is probably my second choice, but he's kind of cheap so I avoid him
kirby is really fun, like in the original, the down+b brick move is ownage, just float too high to see for a while and drop when people are punching eachother.

I've noticed that throwing is a lot less emphasized in brawl... it was one of the most effective moves in the original but pressing a and b at the same time to grab is a little tricky and people don't go as far as they used to. probably the only thing i dont like about brawl

the level design is phenomenal... as retarded as wario's map is, it's a really neat concept. i also like the ice climbers map from what i saw of it. didn't like the ones where you can just walk to the sides and if you keep going you just die without falling or anything...

i even started watching pro wrestling again in 2001 - that's how wacky phases can get

Soooo OTM. My Peach throw combo is gone. You can't throw into a combo anymore. Throws are kind of pointless now, except use can use them to get space I guess. Also, just pick up a GameCube controller on the cheap, fuck that A and B bs.

Played Brawl for the first time last night. 4 player battles. This game is fucking retarded. The guy who bought it was pissed he wasted the money.

I play as Marth because I like a dude with a sword and he feels like the best of the lot. His japanese-ness is pretty hatable though. Not only is he a Japan only character, I find his bland face obnoxious and typical of dime a dozen anime.

So far as Brawl is concerned, I really like the balance they achieved. Pretty much every character from Melee that sucked (Ness, Kirby, Bowser, etc.) is at least playable. Even good characters like Zelda and Peach got buffed. I think Sonic blows cock, as does Olimar and DeDeDe, unfortunately.

In Melee I was pretty much all Fox all the time and he raped everyone in that shit. Now that the game's a bit slower and they tweaked him, he's a little harder to play, I think I've moved on.

I pretty much exclusively play Lucas. And THANK FUCKING GOD FOR THAT DUDE. I loved the concept of Ness in previous games, but he actually just sucked. Against anyone with half a worth he just didn't have the moves to do it. But Lucas in Brawl fucking shits on everyone. His grab is ridiculously powerful. PK Thunder got buffed to shit and can actually kill someone (I actually used it to knock someone off the screen) and can hit multiple targets. Freezing bitches is awesome, the baseball bat has such a longer range, his power up-A move is beastly, PK Fire seems to hit people more, and his jumps seem much easier to control. He's just a really great a versatile character and I love him.

When I don't play Lucas I either just go random to fuck around, or play Link, who they also buffed back up to original SSB quality after his reign of terror ended a bit in melee (though he was still really good). Ike is also really fucking good.

Let it be noted that I don't actually own the game, so don't ask me to play you online. I just play at other peoples houses.



EDIT: Marth is one of my favorite guys to play against because he's quite challenging and I know a lot of people who like to play him. I think he's good and fun to play, but he's not really my playing style. Not enough flashing lights or flare. Too meat and potatoes.

hmm, well you could in melee anyway, seems the gain you get in brawl is pretty negligible, but who cares, recover in brawl isn't all that important since no one gets KO'd until like 160 anyway

Peach got nerfed to shit, practically useless now. You should give Olimar a shot though, unbelievably good. HEY WE SHOULD PLAY RIGHT NOW CRONO

Link doesn't suck anymore but Toon Link still makes the whole idea of playing Link sort of useless considering how much better Toon Link is.

Just the reason I like him really. I dislike all ranged attacks and tricky moves. I just want a close combat machine that has many ways to hit and hit hard and isn't so slow that he can't get out of a jam.

eh marths b over still aids recovery a bit just as long as you only do the first three hits, fourth one will basically make you fall like a rock.

most are saying he's still one of the best characters in the game, i still suck ass with him.

Also lance, a good tactic to use with marth is use his A attack in the air neutrally(not hitting any direction), the second swing has great kill potential. basically playing marth is all about taking advantage of his "sweet spot" which you can really only learn with practice.

How in the fucking world is Olimar good? I can't even understand what the hell that guy does.

And people die at 160%, are you kidding me? It's so much easier to rape people in Brawl than in Melee. You can knock people off at like 60-80% consistently if you're using the right moves.

Have you played against Lucas online at all? I'm wondering if a ton of people play him/know how to play him already. Seems to me he's got to be one of the top 5 best characters in the whole of Brawl.

ALSO: HERE ARE MY LIST OF CHARACTERS THAT I THINK HAVE AMAZING POTENTIAL AND ARE REALLY GREAT

Pit(i main this guy, not much kill potential, but has the best projectile in the game, unbelievable recovery, can dodge landmasters by going under the stage, sadly not as good of air game as you'd think)
LUCAS(quick, but absurdly powerful, forward smash comes out lightning fast, excellent range, great projectiles, can easily use PK thunder to edge guard, makes ness completely worthless in comparison)
WOLF(beastly forward smash, absurdly powerful but still relatively quick, great projectile and pretty good air game)
LUIGI(makes his brother look like a slouch, great back air, moves quick, decent recovery, basically you're go-to guy if you're upset about mario being nerfed pretty bad)
DIDDY KONG(awful recovery, haven't played much but seems to be pretty excellent in the air, brawl is a lot more aerial based it seems)
ZELDA(strangely, seems to be better than Shiek this time around, havent had time to play her much because i hate women, but i'll give her credit as having potential, great projectile, too)
SQUIRTLE(kind of plays like Diddy Kong, great aerial game, again, i need more time with this guy)
DeDeDe(basic A racks up damage, tilts are solid and fast, his up tilt destroys, and his tilts in the air completely wreck, awesome projectile, slow, but definitely an awesome character.
SONIC: liking him less as i play, but still awesome. great for mind games, amazing recovery, fast, but seems to lack combo potential, also his back air is his only relatively decent kill move. key to playing sonic is to never let your opponents breathe and use spin dash a lot
TOON LINK: air game is absurd, great forward smash, very quick, very powerful
OLIMAR: potentially the best character in the game if only because it's so hard to play against his unorthodox style. Very steep learning curve but his projectile racks up damage and purple pikmin are an easy KO for his forward smash, Olimar dominates.

Snake I can go either way on, he's got so many kill moves(hell, his neutral A can KO reasonably well) and his projectiles are awesome, but you definitely need to learn this guy to be any good with him at all.

maybe because your opponents are walking into Lucas's grotesquely overpowered up smash and dying at 70, but this is definitely much slower-paced and leisurely than melee was.

Yeah, the community loves Lucas, it's great that the Earthbound series finally has someone who can play with the big dogs.

Actually, of the melee pros i've played against, they all have a pretty good Lucas, i was initially against his inclusion but now I welcome him with open arms, just wish the fan translation of mother 3 would happen already.

I like to think I force them into it.

Going to play as Ness after you've been using Lucas for awhile is like going back to dial-up after using a T1 line.
