I only subscribed to Gamespot's podcast The Hotspot. Never read the site, but I quickly became fans of Gertsmann, Ryan Davis, Rich Gallop, Alex Navarro, Jason Ocampo and Brad Shoemaker. So after they all left one by one, I followed them to Giant Bomb/IGN/etc. After awhile I didn't care about the people on The Hotspot, and unsubscribed. Their new host Vinny Caravella is terrrrrrrrrrrrrrible. He sounds so fucking clueless sometimes, and not in that Garnett Lee drunken kinda way.

Doesn't Kyle Orland write(or used to write)for Joystiq too? He also had an article in EGM recently I believe.

Yeah, Orland's all over the place -- he blogs for Joystiq, writes for Crispy Gamer, does the GameSpot column, and I still see bits and pieces from him in EGM.

In more me-related news (haha), the long April drought of reasonably notable new releases is finally at an end, and I actually have a full week ahead (it seems). Reviewing Battle of the Bands for Wii, might be doing a phone interview with an MS exec, have a preview build of an anticipated PSP game coming, and working on many write-ups for What They Play (Balls of Fury, ooh). Been a way slow month, which has had some perks, but I'd still rather be working at the level I was for the first three months of the year.

I am so excited about this

Played it a bit at E3 last year -- not really something that pumps me up, but might check it out anyway. There's a video on IGN of me playing the hula-hoop game... they were filming a Super Mario Galaxy kiosk nearby, and I happen to be allll over it in the corner of the screen.

Bleh, if I didn't have a fiancee...I have to buy this, but I promise I won't play it for longer than a day.

So, IGN gave GTAIV a full 10, which is a rarity for them.


Multiplayer is supposed to be the crazy.


I liked the GTAs for what they were, though I never finished one to completion. That said, I will be picking this up on Tuesday. Anyone else?

Yeah, seems like it's the second coming. San Andreas was my favorite of the series, so I've been looking forward to this for quite a while.

Picking up Mario Kart Wii whenever I wake up tomorrow, as well.

The local Best Buy had a manager's special on some titles yesterday, so I grabbed PaRappa the Rapper and Every Extend Extra for PSP for just $10 each.

I hadn't bought a game since last November. Between yesterday, today and Tuesday I'll have nabbed Tiger Woods '08 (Wii), MarioKart and GTA IV (which will be my first GTA game. The series never held any interest for me before, but this just sounds to exciting to ignore.) Talk about jumping back in with both feet, lolz.

GTAIV was pretty much the #1 reason I bought my 360 last year. So yes, I will be picking it up on Tuesday. And it'll probably be the best game I've played in some time.

Just got Mario Kart. I'll post my friend code after I finish this delicious Minute Maid Frozen Cherry Limeade.

I get the feeling already though that playing with steering wheel, while lots of fun, isn't going to be conducive to real precise control. Kinda tricky to pull off quick-burst power slides. I used to own on the N64 version, seriously, the college roommates and I spent waaaaaay too much time on it. Hell, that was back in the early days of the internet, and as far as we could tell we were setting some of the fastest times on the net.

Now? Got my ass destroyed online in about 3 seconds.

Andyroo, I have read in this thread before that you review games so I was curious if you have heard of any differences about GTA IV on the PS3 or 360. I have both systems and I'm not sure which one to get. IGN hast the exact same review for both systems so that was no help.

No inside scoop here, sadly. I saw on my RSS reader that some blog claimed the PS3 version looks a little better, but I seriously doubt it's anything significant. I'm always more inclined to get the Xbox 360 version of a multiplatform game, because of Achievements and having way more friends with the system, but the promise of significant 360-exclusive DLC further seals the deal for me. Otherwise, I'm sure they're interchangeable.

GamesRadar (gamesradar.com) has separate reviews for the two versions, so give that a look, perhaps.

Added clemsy, muppet, sausage, and sam. Set a time that everyone can get on. Hopefully sometime Monday if possible. Everyone has to be on at the same time because you can't sit and wait for others to finish like you can in random matches(another good move Nintendo, thanks).

I just got my 360 back after the RROD (now on 360 number 4) and I am thinking of picking this up. I never really got hugely into the other ones so that might be foolish of me but I am a sucker for the hype.

It's just something about all the sex and strip clubs in the game. It reminded me of how much of these games have been stuff I could do without and what's left hasn't really been anything that I've really been interested in.

Maybe I'll reconsider because the story is getting all this praise.

I was driving back from Chicago at 3:30 and dropped in at Meijer to get a copy of GTAIV. The cashier let me use the $10 off next game purchase coupon that printed on the spot for some reason. What a sweetheart.

Please set me straight. I want to feel like I have to go out and buy this game.

I just feel that people who complain about sex/violence in a video game are holding the medium back as a form. To me, there's no difference between being against violence in a video game vs violence in a film, since the the two are becoming more and more similar over time.

If you are just someone who doesn't like any form of sex in the form of television, books, movies, or video games, then fine, but I didn't think anyone like that still existed. Putting video games on some other standard is completely retarded.

I'm having problems driving in GTA IV as well. I also don't like how small the cellphone image is. I have to walk up to the tv to read the text messages and I'm playing on 55" screen.

Yup, it came out on the NES. I spent an adolescent lost weekend with this game and loved it. I've seen it on emulators but this should be good enough to work its way onto the VC.

After watching my roommate play through MGS1 I decided to give this a spin as my first metal gear game ever. Totally engrossing/addicting/infuriating at parts. Will certainly play 3 next and 4 after it comes out on the PS3.
