That looks fucking awful. Now, Aerosmith is on my short list of least favorite bands ever so that enters into it. But even the non-Aerosmith tracks don't do a lot for me. Hell, the Joe Perry solo tracks might as well be Aerosmith tracks in their own right. A blatant cash-grab like the "Rocks the 80's" pack on the PS2, just to stem the tide until a reboot of the series with World Tour. Loved GH3, which was my first introduction to the franchise, but this is very very poor.

No, wait a sec, they actually did a very good job on this one. It's nowhere near as tacky as the 80s one (which was damn fun too), the venues are all different, there's an expanded selection of guitar models, there are cool little twists with the band performances, and it looks like they expanded the whole motion-capture thing. The only bad Aerosmith song is that recent one, "Beyond Beautiful" I think it's called, but the rest are great fun, with lots of 70s material ("Seasons of Wither" and "Lord of the Thighs" would have been cool to have though). "Mama Kin" is a blast. And "Rag Doll", surprisingly fun. And their updated covers actually sound solid, too. Of the non-Aerosmith songs, the only ones I disliked were the Kravitz and STP, only because I can't stand either in the first place.

I paid $50 CDN for it, and I'm more than happy.

Glad you like it. No Spacehog = No Way. The son in law needs some dough of his own. They could have at least tossed him a bone.

I don't think it's quite the rush-job that Rock the 80s was, but I struggle to call it a comprehensive experience. Some pretty notable Aerosmith singles are missing (mostly newer stuff) -- true, that may not be the stuff that truly defines the band, but for people in their teens and 20s, that's the bread and butter material beyond obvious older picks like "Dream On" and "Sweet Emotion."

Phah, that may be true, but this oldster loved playing "Kings and Queens" and "Draw the Line". smile.gif

Glad no 90s power ballads made the cut.

Oh my fucking God, Diablo 3.

Have you seen the 19 minute walk through? Looks very detailed. Great graphics.

You can also click on the above movie and then make it full screen.

just finished GTA IV. Need to go back to my other save slot to see the other ending.

Chrono Trigger is rumored to be coming out for the DS in Japan this winter. I hope this is true. They better release that shit over here so I can slay Lavos on the go. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Possible sneak peek of Rock Band 2 tracklist!!!

HERE

So the great debate begins. GH4 or RB2?!?!?!
Damo Suzuki
Good Lord. Every time I watch the Diablo 3 trailers I get chills. The image of the two Paladins standing atop the ramparts of the Fortress at Pandemonium overlooking the hellmouth is fucking brilliant. Or when the final boss bites the head off the Barbarian. Goddamn.

I desire this game more than any other coming out.

Finally beat this God-forsaken game 2 nights ago.

The last level feels like such a metaphor for my life right now.

It's cool, but it probably won't be that big of a deal. A few inserted cut scenes or something.
Spiz
I guess I'm on the side that this is a huge deal because people have been wanting a CT remake for years now. It's my favorite game of all time, and I know I'm not the only one who has it at the top of their list. That PSX remake was a let down, so hopefully they'll come through with this one.
Ennui
why do you need a remake, you obviously have a computer because you are posting here...
the game is perfect in its true snes form, the graphics and mechanics fit so well with the game/story i wouldn't want it changed. i don't know if i could get behind a 3d modern graphics version until i see gameplay trailers
Dread
It's not really a remake though is it? I thought it's more or less a port with some added stuff to it to have the dual screen actually have some functionality.

SPZ, just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Chrono Cross? I know a lot of Trigger fans hate it because it messed with Trigger's story. I loved Cross though, but I played it first and when I played (most of) Trigger quite later when I was technically an adult and I felt Trigger was completely lacking the depth and complexity that Cross had. That might be sacrilegious, I know, but whatever. If I had a DS I'd still probably get it.

Yeah I don't want a 3D remake either. Nobody knows what they're gonna do other than utilize the touch screen, and add a brand new dungeon. I like the charm of the original sprites. Plus I fear change...I don't mind buying a copy of my favorite game ever either.
And, I've never played Chrono Cross. I'm one of the few gamers out there that never owned a Sony console because everyone I knew had one, so I could play PS/PS2 whenever I wanted, but because I never owned one of my own I missed out on a lot of single player experiences on the platform.

Yeah, it's also at the number one slot on my games list. My way of thinking is that if they're not going to change it much at all then I'm not very interested because its already essentially flawless and I have a rom to play. No need to tweek perfection (hi Star Wars). On the other hand, if they're going with some crazy 3D update then that's right out because Chrono Trigger is maybe the best expression of 2D pixel art ever.

As an aside: Chrono Cross suuuuuucckss.
Undercooked Sausage
I'm pumped for it to varying degrees

if it's a new title, holy hell fuck yes

if it's a remake, awesome, hopefully looks sharp

if it's the same game with a new translation, updated text, voice acting, some sort of extra "bonuses" then i'll probably play it

if it's the same game just on DS with an extra dungeon or something, eh

makes me wish chrono resurrection happened, though

Undercooked Sausage
a next gen chrono trigger remake with blue dragon-esque character models and 1080p, orchestrated music, voice acting, new scenes, new dungeons, etc would really be the only way I'd accept a remake, though.

but honestly I will take what I can get.
wakingrufus
i wouldnt be suprised if it was a remake. look what they did with the DS final fantasy remakes.

This is what I've been digging into recently:

I was playing with the 49ers and lost the last game of the regular season to the fucking Bears. Messed up my perfect season. Probably the only thing I haven't accomplished yet with this game.

I recently bought No More Heroes for $29.99. Bully: Scholarship Edition also went down to $29.99 as well. And now with GH: Aerosmith out now, GH III has gone down to $69.99. Life is going to be great this month. Plus, whenever I finish Majora's Mask, I have Okami sitting in my room.

NEAL ANDERSON IN THE FACE

My best single-player Tecmo Super Bowl moment was as the Bears vs the 49ers in the second round of the playoffs. It was the end of the 4th quarter and I needed a touchdown from around my 40 to win. I completed a deep pass to Neal Anderson and then the fucker fumbled it. 49ers picked it up, and then they fumbled it. Neal picked it right back up and scored.

Such a wonderful game.
Damo Suzuki
Just installed Diablo 2 + Exp + Mods.

I am about to waste several hours playing D2 while listening to Prong's discography.

This is a fine evening.
Ennui
i'm going to pick up a nice game for the summer before work today. It's a tossup between age of conan and mass effect. leaning to aoc simply because it offers longer gameplay so it'll keep me entertained for more then a week or two.
Ogawa
I wouldn't bother with Mass Effect. It's short and not all that compelling. Pretty graphics, though.
Ennui
Thanks smile.gif
I'm getting AoC then.
Ennui
Alright I'm about to start playing when the install completes. What's the verdict? PvE or PvP? (btw, damo what PvE server are you on). I enjoy PvE more, even though I like a good fight, I prefer to work cooperatively with others. I've never really tried a PvP server, though, and they look fun and without the annoying 12yr olds.
Ennui
lol i thought i was about to play at 11:15. ended up having to install service pack 1 and then search the internet for updated drivers for my video card. apparently nvidia is willing to make the card, but not make drivers for it? idk, but i found working ones on laptopvideo2go.com and finally got the game itself started at 1:15. I'm still only lvl 8 or something, but the visuals are really impressive, and so is the voice acting. At least for now, every NPC has voice acting, which is really surprising me considering how many characters are needed... I had a lot of fun messing with the character creator, my guy looks so great, this thin-faced, beared, long-hairded stygian assassin w/ the brown skin and face markings that make him look like Robin. I saw damo's post and ended up choosing the tyranny server. I might just remake on a PvE if it gets too annoying, I'm really only like an hour in without wasting time on tutorials, listening to questgivers instead of reading, and figuring out the control. Love the combat too, although I can see it getting tedious for lvl grinding.
James D
Maybe I'm on a less busier server, but honestly ever since I re-rolled and went pvp I havn't once felt the urge to go back to pve. If you keep you wits about you and use the 'hide' button a lot, you'll be fine. btw, once you leave tortage around lvl20 all the voice acting goes sad.gif

Have fun!

edit: what class did you pick?
Ennui
awwww im going to miss all of the fun voices. although i guess if everybody had a voice this would be like 8 CDs and require 100gb of hdd space; I rolled a rogue and plan on going assassin route, it seems fun and I've never played rouge archetypes before. The only trouble I'm having is that there's no point of going invisible right now because I have no special suprise/gank abilities.
James D
I cannot stand Rogues! Annoying fuckers who are capable of taking even the most skilled players down due to their stealth abilities. Nice choice.

Ennui
haha, awesome. the only problem is getting mobbed by creeps because i can't wear real armor.
James D
hehe, my Herald of Xoliti also is restricted to cloth armour wink.gif
Damo Suzuki
Rogues are such motherfuckers.

Who's trying to hop on U.S. West with me?
Damo Suzuki
Ah shit. Chrono. I would party up w/ you for LOD but I got a PbyP session on till 10pm EST.

Maybe Sunday morning/afternoon?
Ennui
damo you wanna quest in aoc?
Chronodiggity
i work sundays from 9:30-2
Damo Suzuki
Haid, I usually game AoC from 2am-4am EST Tuesday morning.

I might be available Wednesday afternoon, 11am-12pm-ish for either AoC or LOD. If am I will post here, otherwise assume I am too busy to party up.
Ennui
cool. i'm going to spend the rest of today leveling up... i forgot how annoying it is to go around a city getting quests, running out 15minutes from the town, and then getting a different quest to the same area.
p.s. character's name is Viscous

just got into the first pvp area (white sands isle or whatever in tortage) an it's such a net mixed bag. while it's kind of hard to get quests done with constant ganking and then having to run back (good thing the death "penalty" is barely noticeable), being a rogue is a lot of fun to be able to get out of a gank by running into bushes and hiding and then killing them when they give up looking
Dread
So my 360 died on me a few days ago, red lights galore and freezing all over the place. I still haven't called tech support for them to send me a prepaid postage mailer or anything yet. I've been a bit busy and have just gone back to my PS2 to play ICO, which I'm pretty torn over, and Okami, which I'm not. As long as I get my 360 back by September 1st, I'll be okay. Honestly I thought I'd be more pissed off it I was part of that 40% or whatever, and I'm really not.
wp64
any COD4 players in the crowd?

if so maybe we could shot em up online something...just give me your gamertag.

Is this only for the 360 and PS3? I'm finishing up RE4 and can't imagine playing another RE game without the Wii control set up. The previews for 5 look dope and I love the setting they chose. If they don't Wii it up I might have to get an Xbox for Xmas.

Nope, I was saying how much I love the Wii controls. They completely turned me back on to shooters. I was worried that actually being able to aim with the wiimote would be too shakey but was plesantly supprised by how smooth and accurate it is. Sure, not ever shot is a killer but I also don't feel like I'm trying to aim comming off of a half gallon of coffee and a hand full of mushrooms.
