If I were to play Link's Awakening, should it be the black and white one or the color one? Does it matter?

Color is better. Not sure it would matter if you were emulating, but original game boy games were just kind of hard to see in general.
The Curse Of Millhaven
Backing up my hard drive, then updating my drivers and hopefully Morrowind doesn't crash every 4 minutes on me anymore.

Damnit, I love this game so much.
Efrim

Now that the price is down, I couldn't resist picking it up. Long have I waited for even a mediocre Star Trek console game. The voice acting alone should make it worthwhile even if it ends up being less than it seems now.

So what's the verdict on the all the new TF2 stuff? I won't be able to check it out for a week or 2 thanks to my hard drive deciding to crap out on me.

Ogawa
The new TF2 stuff is pretty great. I played for quite a bit last night and surprisingly, it wasn't a Heavy-fest. This probably has a lot to do with the sheer amount of extra goodies this time around. One can play on any number of the maps in the new game mode and it's a new experience. Or they can play the new payload map. Before, with the pyro update, all you could do was work toward the pyro achievements and unlocks and so everyone was doing so.

The Arena mode is pretty great. Really fast and fun. Occasionally it makes you sit out a round if there's an odd number of people, which sucks. But save for that it's a great new mode. And the new alpine art style is really nice. You can practically smell the fresh air.

The new payload map is great, though it'll almost certainly need some tweaking. I'm close to saying it's better than Goldrush.

Haven't unlocked any of the Heavy weapons yet, but I saw a lot of people eating sandwiches last night.

anyone played "braid" to completion... or currently doing so?

i'm on world 4 now, and man, this is good stuff... a pretty short game, i'm sure, but worth the purchase in artistry and the cleverness in game mechanics.
Melted Cheese

Amazing how well this game holds up. Graphics, score, playability, design. I remember being totally wowed by it back in the day. Going through it now with a Wii classic controller, I feel the same way. Quite the achievement.

I played the demo...definitely gonna pick up the full game at some point. Easily the most interesting puzzles since portal. Playing the demo really reminded me of playing portal for the first time, and that's a damn good thing.

I'm really enjoying the game too. The game never tells you anything, and that can either be frustrating, or amazing because figuring out stuff on your own is the best feeling.

World 4 is craaaaazy, though I find myself really stumped. I mean there are areas where I know what I'm supposed to do, and I continally flub the execution, so it's frustrating. I still need a single puzzle piece in World 3, and I have no idea how to do that one puzzle.

I want to give this game more time, but I've still been playing GW2. Can't stop. I'll go for hours muttering, "fuck work. Stupid purple piece. Stupid crackhead green squares." I need to beat everyone on my friends list. I can't help it. BC: Rearmed is so much fun too, but I'm almost at the end of that. I can fit more Braid time after that, but Castle Crashers next week. We have to get a SOMB Game night for that game.

I d/led bc:rearmed the same night I did "braid." man. some of the criticism was spot on with control. the xbox has no NES d-pad. directionals piss me off. i should give it more time to adjust, I guess. i kept going back to "braid."

The xbox dpad pretty much kills BC reloaded, shame cause the new challenge rooms look fun. Supposedly there's some limited edition promotional xbox controller out there with a new/better dpad....i'm hoping they put it into real production and start selling em.

I'm giving away a free copy of Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 1 to anyone who wants it. It's the PC version and requires you to download it. First person to respond in this thread gets it. Just need your email.
Ogawa
I too have a copy of HL2 for whoever wants it.

As well, anyone who is interested should check out the Team Fortress 2 free weekend this weekend. Or whoever already plays it on a regular basis, look for me. I play as either Ogawa or Minotaur.

So two free copies of Half Life 2. Also, I have a free guest pass for three days of Team Fortress 2 for whoever wants it. I would wait after this weekend though because anyone can play.
James D
Yeah I have a free copy as well. Most people who want the game, have it at this point I imagine.

TF2 update is interesting. Liking the new maps so far, inparticular the new payload map (I love the open spaces on that one since I'm a bit of a sniper fan). Wierdly, the new update has promped me to get the pyro updates and they're pretty good so far. The flare gun is perfect for the new payload map.

Good game.

half life 2 ?
Undercooked Sausage
my email account is megatug@gmail.com and I would enjoy recieving free games since I never actually beat HL2
James D
I just tried to send it but it turns out my brother went behind my back and gave it away to his friend the fuck. Sorry about that.
Undercooked Sausage
tell your brother to go fuck himself and that i'll see him in hell.

I just played the best game of Snood in my life. At my peak (freshman year of college '00 and '01) I was playing around 5 games a day for about a year. It took 3 warm up games after a 7 year hiatus to best myself.

It was prly cuz I'm listening to that Black Dog Remixes and Remixed album Brugs posted. Seven years ago I was prly listening to The Appleseed Cast or something.
Montana
So Sausage did you ever end up with it? If not I will send. It's HL2 full version and HL2 Episode 1.
Undercooked Sausage
Nah, never got anything, if you could send it to me I'd wholly appreciate it.

But then again if you could find someone with less of a backlog(i have like 40 games I need to play through at the moment) who earnestly wants to give HL2 a shot then by all means send it that way.
shame cock
James D
Why?

I'm not actually playing it. Just posting to see if anyone else agrees that it's the best platformer of the nineties, including Mario and so on. Great music too.

Haven't played Spyro since it first came out (and only then, the demo), but it's from Insomniac -- it's probably really good, though certainly dated.

He might not, but I do, and I know that you're a fucking idiot with the stupidest fucking opinions on everything. Spyro was an 7/10 at best even at launch. Stop being "controversial" for the sake of things. You either lived some awful sheltered fucking life if you never played Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Super Mario World, Crash Bandicoot 2, Rocket Knight Adventures, Super Mario 64, etc, etc. The 90s was the absolute pinnacle of the platforming genre and it will probably never reach the dizzying heights it did during that time right before the genre itself receded into the night. Spyro was a Johnny-come-lately to the whole mascot craze after Sonic The Hedgehog made SEGA a household name in the early 90s.

fuck I would probably take Bugs Bunny: Rabbit Rampage over fucking Spyro. You fucking tool. eat a fucking dick. Your problem isn't you know nothing about platformers, I wish you didn't know anything about them, I wish you had never touched a fucking video game in your life, I wish your mother had aborted your stupid ass. I wish your grandfather would've strangled your grandmother with a phone cord. Eat my fucking dick you stupid piece of shit.
Undercooked Sausage
wait, just realized who you were quoting, lol @ efrim not knowing anything about platformers. you insipid fuck, you have no idea who you're talking to.

Undercooked Sausage
I mean your whole life must be a fucking joke, do you just sit on your fat ass all day listening to fucking Maladroit and playing mediocre, horribly dated and unplayable platformers while your mother sucks your 2 inch dick?

How can you get any enjoyment out of life whatsoever, how could a God possibly exist if someone like you was brought into this world?

Fuck you you fucking ass fucking dick hugger. I know 300% more about platformers than you do, period end of story. YOU BITCH. My playforming knowledge extends past the usual Banzo Kazooie, Sonic, Mario bullshit. We all know that Mario 64 is one of the most overrated games of all time. I'll tell you what though, Crash Bandicoot 2 is my pick for runner up to Spyro. I know more about games than anybody on this board, I'll tell you that much and if you want to pick a fight I'll suck your dick all day long, you don't have a fucking chance, really, all day long. And what kind of a sad, Freud stomped, father-fucked prick even dares to bring up Maladroit in ANY discussion? One of the worst albums ever recorded and you should be shot on the spot blue steel style for even mentioning it. I wonder if a person like you dreams of suicide each night? I barter that life is much more painful for you then for I.

lollll. so whos posting on sausages account now?
Undercooked Sausage
Fuck you faggot, i hope you get hit by a bus. motherfucker you dont know shit. motherfucker have you ever played Bug! Jumping Flash! 1 or 2??? Have you even been privy to the legendary Alex Kidd series? No, you fuck. you don't know jackshit. I have played every platformer ever. You have no fucking idea. I lead a sick fucking life but I love every minute of it. I see kids come up in here championing bullshit spyro and shit and god fuck you

at least you recognize the linearity of Crash 2 makes it one of the finest 3d platformers of its era, but otherwised. get fucked.
Undercooked Sausage
motherfucker I have even played Cutthroat Island for super nintendo do not fucking mess with me

Super Mario World and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 are the two finest platformers of the 90s.

If they count, Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Mega Man X are all way the fuck up there as well, but calling them platformers is a stretch.

Just started, after buying the original version late last year and getting about halfway through it. I hope I can get through it before Persona 4 in December.

Undercooked Sausage
yeah i've been playing that as well, fun game so far, but after the initial day where i played 12 hours straight, i'm having difficulty playing it again.

I feel like the emphasis on maxing your social links as soon as you can really makes playing with an FAQ a obnoxious neccessity, and the tired/sick gimmick is more annoying than clever.
Efrim
Platformers are far from my favorite genre, but even I know enough to know that Vamos just expressed one of the most fucking idiotic opinions to ever hit this fine thread. It's a horrible blight it may never fully recover from. At least Sausage came in with the heavy artillery as I expected. Anyways Vamos, I hope you get hit by a bus.
shame cock
I suppose you Father obsessive types don't like the Taz franchise either. In all honestly Spyro is just a game I played as a child and I hoped you guys would be able to sense the tongue-in-cheek quality of my supreme intellect but apparently I overestimated you. As for Salah, I hope an asteroid falls on your house, not only curing you of your miserable life experience, but also brutally but quickly stealing the breath away from the mother and father you still so pathetically live with/ are ritually abused by.

In terms of platformers, why doesn't anyone release a new, really really fucking good one. Or a really good sidescroller? We have all this new technology that could make the simple set of rules all the more interesting. There was Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank but those are barely platformers at all. And there was Psychonauts for the old xbox but that game was merely a good artistic achievement, less than a game. So now that I admit that I actually have no knowledge of good platformers considering I only ever owned a PS1 in the age of the platformer, can we be at peace? But damn, wasn't the Crash Bandicoot franchise the greatest thing for the first three releases?

Also, just how good of a game is Super Metroid? I remember EGM named it the greatest game of all time a while back and I'm thinking about buying it through the Wii service thing.

Also, does anyone remember Oddworld? Those games for the PS1 were fantastic.

Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exodus were both great. Wonderful animation and fantastic puzzles. Why doesn't someone make another game like that? A really advanced sidescroller in the Out of this World/Abe's Oddysee tradition?
shame cock
Yeah somebody should get together and make a game in the vain of Oddworld. Really complicated, deep gaming, but restricted to two dimensions. Could be really great and detailed. I just downloaded Super Metroid on the virtual console of my Wii and I'm about to play for the first time.
James D
I kinda feel sorry for Vamos because I believe he is an earnest poster and probably means well but saying Pyro the dragon is on the same level as Mario 64 is one of the most amazingly incorrect statements I've ever read. I mean, just wow. Sausage's reply was godlike.
