Left 4 Dead's draw is multiplayer. How long the game will be in the end is somewhat irrelevant. User created maps will no doubt be all over the place as well.

For those who might be interested, the fellas at Double Fine just released the design document for
Grim Fandango.
http://www.doublefine.com/news.php/site/co...ore_grim_thing/I read this until 2am last night. Had some awesome flashbacks through the puzzles, cut scenes and characters. I forgot how much a joy/pain in the ass it was.
Would Grim even play in XP or does it need that updated scumm project( at a lose for the name) to work?
I'm actually able to play
Grim a lot easier in XP than I was ever able to play it in 98. I can't remember if I did anything special to get it to work, though. I don't think I did.
Maybe try this if you're having trouble

I got to the ending of Fallout 3. Yawn. Fun world to explore, fun to level your character. Main quest was a big letdown.
I've sunk about 30 hours into Fallout 3 and maybe 2 of these hours have been in the main quest. Tired of boarding with you idiots.
Most of my gameplay experience has been doing random quests, killing everyone in megaton for laughs and then resetting, and spending thousands of caps on pimping out my pad and occasionally wandering over to the bar, drinking 12 bottles of whiskey, and then having sex w/ nova.

It's totally relevant when I'm paying $50 for it. If they can keep enough diversity over those 20 maps I don't see a problem.
It will take at least a month or two for worthwhile user created maps to show up. Hopefully Valves "Director" AI isn't a pain in the ass for map developers.

A month or two? Hardly. And yes, it is irrelevant. The longevity of a MP FPS is based on online competition and matching skill w/ others. Not the length of time it takes to play through every shipped map. 20 is more than fine for most MP FPS games and the rabid following of valve games ensures many user maps to come.
Its a silly question. Like asking how long Counter-Strike or Team Fortress are.

Indeed. Between my parents and my gf, August (my bday) proved to be a glut of Wii goodness. So far, nothing I have is bad by any stretch. Here's what I've enjoyed:
Metroid Prime 3. Almost exactly like the 2 Metroid games for Gamecube, which is to say, very good. And nicely, if you've missed the Gamecube ones, you can play them on the Wii. Just be sure to buy a GC controller (or 2, or 3, or 4), which is also good for....
Super Smash Bros Brawl. A great time waster. Unlocking new characters, stages, etc. becomes an addiction all its own. This would be even more fun with people to play against, but the depth of this game is amazing. There are always new things to try, new things to unlock, etc. But, the GC controller is much better for this than the Wii-Mote. Also fun to play people via Wi-Fi, especially if you have friends with the game elsewhere.
Super Mario Galaxy. He's a lot more kiddy-like these days than I remember him being back in the NES days, but the game is a good mix of difficulty. Some easy, some diabolical. But all fun. I'm still plowing through this one currently.
Super Mario Kart. Any of these are always good, and the wireless wheel is fun. Still, this is much more a multi-player than solo game. My lack of friends hampers this one a bit. Another Wi-Fe compatible game, too.
Link's Crossbow (with Zapper). A pretty mindless target-shooter, but fun to revisit scenes from Twilight Princess. I'm not sure if I'll ever use the Zapper for other games, and the game is short...but you only spend $20.
Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess. I played the Gamecube version, so I can't say specifically for the Wii, but GREAT game. If you liked any of the other Zelda games (my favorite series of games by far), a must-buy.
I've yet to even unwrap Lego Indiana Jones, or download games with my Wii-points card....and with Christmas coming soon, I may have a new stack of games in no time.
Anyway, enjoy the system....I am!

I've played the demo , but can't stand to run through it more than once in a sitting. I like it. I really do. It just becomes tiring the second time through. In contrast I can play on just about any tf2 map for hours. I personally feel that L4D needs a larger variety of maps to make up for its limited range of game play in co-op mode. If the final game has limited variety and the maps are as quick as the demo, I think I would be let down. I highly doubt this will happen.

Don't let her talk you into getting WiiFit. Its about $100, any argument that it promotes fitness is laughable, and it gets stale incredibly quickly. The WiiFit Board will be gathering dust in a closet in short order. It was definitely marketed towards the ladies, so beware.
Pick up the RE4 port if you never played it on a different system. It was only $30 new as it was simply a port, so you can probably get it on the cheap if need be.

Thanks. We picked this thing up on a whim to "help the economy" and I'm looking for suggestions. I have a good PC that can run the shooting type games rather well so I figured the Wii would be a nice contrast.
One of my favorite games ever on Nintendo was Street Fighter. Is it available for this system?
I never got into the Zelda games, but I will give the others a try. I have RE4 on the PC I'm using now and gave up at the house with the weird puzzle in the backyard. RE2 was one of my favorite games ever but I couldn't get into this one much. That said, I've given up on other games lately too (Bioshock, TF2, BF2) so either I'm just getting older or my taste is changing.
Metroid looks cool.
I'm downloading the L4D demo today. Hopefully that's somewhat interesting.

I hooked up the Playstation 2 in hopes of going and renting one of the Guitar Hero games and Family Video doesn't rent accessories. Which seems sort of pointless, but okay...
So I played it safe and got this Crash Bandicoot game. I wish the games were more like they were for the first 4 or so that Naughty Dog did, but oh well.

I bought this last month for Gamecube and it's been taking up a lot of playing time. I own the first NBA Street, but the addition of NBA legends makes Vol. 2 far and away my favorite so far. Sometimes I just play as either this classic Lakers team I created (Magic, Worthy, Jerry West, Wilt) or as a classic Celtics team (Bird, Russell, Cousy) and play them against each other and just bask in the awesomeness of what I'm seeing on my tv screen. Gameplay is pretty much as flawless as the first one and the option to pocket gamebreakers forces you to bring more strategy to the game. I can't remember the last time a licensed sports game was so addictive.

Aren't you playing broken Sagat though? Can't imagine you are not hitting 5+ in the corner with the old Sagat mechanics. His reach going into the low FP or the standing MK is easy to chain into a H/L fireball or uppercut. If you're tight, that's 4 hits on the connection.

they took old sagat, along with all the other "old" characters out, although there is a option to pick "classic" mode so idk, i've only been playing the "remix" mode
