My favorite xbla game is n+, been playing it at every free moment all week. I'm probably way late to the party on that one though
Montana
I've been playing GTA IV pc for about 1/2 hour every night. I haven't even gotten into the single player mode yet, too busy just running people over on the sidewalks and trying to evade police. The online mode kicks ass too. Lots of fun.
Madrox
my gf bought me this kane & lynch game for xmas but i dont have a xbox
petras
So my xbox got hit with the red ring of death last night, 3 weeks before street fighter too mad.gif .

I almost wonder if it had anything to do with the console update or if that was just a coincidence.

You should get it back before SF IV. A lot of people(including me)haven't had to wait longer than two weeks. MS just sends you a refurbed console after you send yours out and that speeds up the process. Mine died two days after the NXE and I had just gotten Left 4 Dead.
Asher Ford
Mine took exactly two weeks total.

anyone playing Skate 2???? thoughts?

i'll most likely be picking it up soon. just finished up Mirror's Edge and i'm not sure how i felt about it. seems like they leave the player in the dark about some of the controls and things to watch out for.

SHAMELESS PLUG:

My brother-in-law developed a game for the iPhone and iPod touch in his spare time. Its called Ballsy.

He received approval from Apple last Friday, and the game will be available as an application tomorrow (2/10/9). If you are looking for something in the vein of Arkanoid to pass the time, take a look. My sis already has it on her phone, and its pretty cool. I don't have a machine to play it on, and I don't see a dime from it, but gotta give the guy some support.

Here's some gameplay footage if interested:

Early reviews for SF4 are calling it pretty much gods gift to fighting games. I am psyched can't wait, waiting for my xbox to get fixed is gonna be painfull after my joystick and game get delivered.

I only got a very small amount of playtime in before my xbox crapped out but from what I played it's pretty much more of the same but in a good way. If you liked making videos or finding really insane lines in the first one then the ability to move all kinds of stuff around in the environment is going to be something you will really like. I can't really comment on the story or objectives didn't really get a chance to do any of that.

Andyroo
Hope every PS3 owner is playing Flower.

petras
So I just pulled the trigger and ordered one of these.

I never had a good quality joystick at home but the dpad on the xbox controller is a huge piece of crap so i'm thinking this is a good investment since I plan to play the hell out of street fighter. It's pc compatable too so I can use it for MAME as well. Galaga + joystick = good times.

I finally beat Persona 3 after first starting it back in December of '07, and what do I do next? Buy this:

Of course, it'll probably take me forever to beat it, too. Seems like it could be better overall though, although some changes are sort of irking me...

Played a few rounds of SF IV with Sausage or Dan or whatever the hell his name is now. He was no match for my Guile, but I am no match for his Zangief, Ken, Sagat, Balrog, etc.

SOMB SF4 tourny???

i think so.

Damn, I'm annoyed I gotta wait til June for the PC SFIV release.

Finally going to stop playing FO3. If there's anything alive out in the wasteland beyond rats and scorps, I sure can't find them. Picked up a used copy of Oblivion the other day and am going to dive into that one awhile. The beauty of only playing games for about half an hour every three days is that games last forever.

If your going to play Oblivion for 1/2 hour every three days it will be the last game you ever play.....huge game.

don't know how many of you are sports gamers...

but I've been playing the shit out of All Pro Football 2k8. I bought it back when it came out in '07 and am still enjoying this game. Best football game ever. Well, I guess ESPN NFL 2k5 competes with it for that title.

for anyone that loves strategy, best football gameplay yet, amazing animations, and feel like jumping out of your chair with glee everytime you break a tackle or complete a pass....do yourself a favor and pick this game up. I can't recommend it enough.

FYI, it's an NFL legends game, where you choose 11 legends on your team, 2 gold players, 3 silvers, and 6 bronzes. the amount of strategy involved in how you build your team is kinda mindblowing since all the players have different abilities. No overall ratings here or anything numbers like that. Just abilities such as "Laser Arm" (accurate passer) or "Arm of Steel" (2nd level charge Stiff Arm).

and the game is like ridiculously cheap now as well. $10? $5 for sure online.

I played the demo and thought it looked like shit. I was pretty disappointed, considering 2k5 is pretty much my favorite sports game ever, but I felt like it played/moved way to similarly to 2k5 (a good game, but aren't we on the next generation now?)

I only played the demo once and never went back to it. The reviews seemed so-so... but for $5 I may have to give it a shot.

I just got and started playing the expansion for GTA IV, The Lost and Damned. Great little addition to an already amazing game. Definitely worth the 20 dollars.

can find it for dirt cheap on amazon there. I honestly can't imagine anyone who enjoyed NFL 2k5 to dismiss this game.

Anybody else play Assassin's Creed? I got this game for Christmas when it came out and have hardly touched it. It's beautiful to look at but seems boring as hell. Any reason I should go back to it?
Dread
I liked it, and I think a lot of people get too bent out of shape due to its repetition. It wasn't great, but I don't think it deserved to be maligned like it was. I've seen games just as repetitive get a huge amount of praise, so... whatever. Ubisoft seem to be pretty good at listening to people's complaints when it comes to games sometimes (well, at least they have been with the Prince of Persia series), so I'm expecting an improved second game that deal with some of those problems.

I beat Fallout 3 yesterday, thus restoring the balance between time and space in my gaming world. Seriously, being crippled by that glitch during the next to last story mission was pretty sour to swallow. I cleared my cache, went back to an older save, and was able to proceed and finish the thing. I don't know why it took me a couple months to do that. I guess I just didn't want to go back and play an older save and not have it work. Letting a little time go by helped. Now to wait for the level cap to get upped in the April DLC...

now playing:
killzone 2: (got it a few weeks ago, I work in the industry) GREAT graphics but its still just another FPS
FEAR 2: loving this! tons of weapons and cool story. Hope some DLC is coming!
GTA - lost and damned: I'm liking it better than the actual game - its more of the same but I like this story better
SF4: best. fighting. game. ever. made.
Motorstorm 2: on a HUGE tv this is THE coolest racing game I've played in years, love how huge the tracks are. great soundtrack too.
Madworld: damn fun, forgot I even had a freakin Wii....man do they need some software in 2009. Punch Out comes out in a few months, cant wait for that one.

YEAH!

If anyone is considering getting Puzzle Quest: Galactrix for the DS, DON'T. The game is crippled by 5-7 sec load times most every time you change screens. There are some common tasks where you changes screens 3 times for 15-20 sec of waiting. Extreme disappointment.
Andyroo
I'm not the biggest Puzzle Quest junkie (the A.I. "cheating" in the originally eventually killed it for me), but I'm bummed they haven't announced a PSP version. I know the platform is on a downswing, and I've barely used mine in the last year or so, but I played the first on PSP and think it's a great fit for the system. Would like to play Galactrix on it too; not sure if I'll play it now. Maybe the XBLA version.

Picked up GHIII with wireless controller for the 360 at Circuit City for $21 this morning. The only GH stuff I have is for PS2, so this was a nice, cheap way to essentially get a free guitar for when the Metallica game comes out.

Damn I wish I still had a nearby Circuit City. I just picked up the GHIII guitar only on sale from Best Buy for $30. Using it to replace the RB guitar as my primary guitar, as I can't stand the "mushy" RB strum bar.

Been loving my new 360 over the past few weeks, at least as I've had time for it. Slowly making my way through Half Life 2, which I never played before, and my wife and I have been enjoying Lego Indy. Downloaded SSF2THD and Geometry Wars, which both kick my ass in a good way. Also tried a bunch of demos, which is a killer feature that I missed from my old PC gaming days.

im really interested in that game as well, but they are getting a lot more customers than anticipated and so new accounts have been throttled. what this means to me is that a lot of linux people havent been able to get their hands on it yet and figured out how to make it work well in WINE. i have heard that its really close to compatible, jsut a few bugs. I figure in another week or two's time the bugs will be ironed out, and i will give the game a shot.

Yeah, they pushed back the original release date in response to the immense amount of interest; right now they are opening up a certain amount of available purchases per day, but I think what they are really doing is trying to test their servers against a certain amount of population, since there is only 1 server right now. I'm probably going to wait a bit as well, at least until they open another server up.
wakingrufus
supposedly, right now they have only officially had an EU release, even though they are letting anyone join. In theory there should be an official US release, with, I presume, some brand new servers opening up on US soil.

Yeah man, check it out. Great game. A lot of fun. As mentioned before, it was repetitive, but it was fun repetition. I never got bored of the game. By then end, it is really easy because you're really well-trained and the people you are fighting aren't really improving. It makes for a great time to roam the streets, pick fights, rooftop chase, and jump down to the barrels of hay. Not the best game ever, but a really fun one nonetheless.

Awesome game, It's like a perfect blend of Harvest Moon + dungeon crawler/hack and slash. Next to Mario this might just be my favorite Wii game.

Buying one tonight...

Resident Evil 5 or Left 4 Dead?

I've been too terrified to play previous RE games but this one seems more action packed and I think it won't scare me as much.
Liffey
I'm pretty disappointed that RE5 isn't supposed to be very scary. It will still be the second game I buy once I can afford a PS3 though, behind MGS4.

Been wasting my spring break away with this bad boy:

Left 4 Dead co-op > RE5 co-op. If you are playing mostly multiplayer I'd go with Left 4 dead if you are doing mostly single player i'd say RE5. Personally I've never been a fan of the resident evil series, the controls just feel clunky to me....and yes I know they are "supposed" to be that way, but that doesn't mean I like them.
Ogawa
Playing F.E.A.R. 2 and I'm bored out of my mind. I thought the first game was great. Very atmospheric and scary, with some intense action. This thing is just lame. Endless shootouts, uninspired level design. There's lots of graphical bells and whistles, and some interesting scripted sequences, but overall this shit is tedious.

Also playing through some old adventure games. Some I'd never played before (Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight) and others I'm replaying cause they're fucking great (Monkey Island, Blade Runner). It's sad this genre is dead.
Damo Suzuki
Disagree.

Focusing on the near perfect gunplay in the first Fear games was a smart decision. The weakest elements of Fear were the horror segments. Fear 2 is no different. Any time the lights flicker, I yawn. However, the incredible white knuckle tactical shootouts that sprawl across a vertical and horizontal axis always leave the blood pumping. The balancing of the weapons, AI, environment design and kineticism of those battles are top notch. Wish Monolith would give me more of that and less of the tiresome horror elements. Quite a few shooters could learn from Fear's use of environmental awareness in battle. Then again, we are still waiting for developers to learn from HL2's examples in the same regard.
Ogawa
The combat is far too easy, though. Even on the hardest difficulty. It's nice to see the enemies use their environment, tipping over tables, running across the room firing their weapons behind them, etc. I just wish it were in a better game, with a better story, with more interesting environments. And ditch the slow-mo.

And I agree, the horror in this game doesn't work (I did think it was effective in the first game, though). It's clear Monolith wanted to make an action game. The sheer amount of combat, as well as the inclusion of the mechs, tells me they want to make another Shogo, and I wish they would. A game where the focus is on action and not atmospherics. It'd be nice to see them cut loose with that sort of game.
Damo Suzuki
I do agree the AI in Fear 2 is a bit thick compared to that in Fear 1 + Exp. They still have a great AI routine though. And disagree about the AI on hardest difficulty in Fear 2. With the rebalance, they are quite sporting given the overwhelming numbers. Especially in the more open school environs. Not quite as good as the Nightcrawlers from Perseus Mandate, though.
Culle
So I've been playing Persona 3 quite a bit, 33 hours actually, and it's been an okey game for 30 hours or so but now finally the story seems to be going somewhere and I'm actually really looking forward to playing.

I can confirm that the RB equipment works with guitar hero world tour so i'm assuming it will work with metallica as well. I remember reading somewhere that sony and microsoft are forcing the 2 companies to make their stuff cross compatible.
