PopCap's latest opiate. Only tower defense game I've thoroughly enjoyed. I'm through adventure mode, have gotten all but two trophies, and am part way through a 2nd pass at adventure mode. It may be a bit easy and over too quick, but it excels at everything else.
my 360 isn't working (no audio/video, happened when I was randomly watching some arrested development but there are no red lights), so while I am trying to figure that one out I hooked up my good ol XBOX.
so far I have played:
NHL Hitz 2002 Marvel vs. Capcom 2
On Deck: ESPN NFL 2k5, Ninja Gaiden, Morrowind, NBA Street Vol. 2, PGR2, Halo, etc.

Been loving the shit outta Infamous for Sonys box for a week now (ftr: it totally pays to have a gf who works in a rental store). It has a strong Crackdown vibe which i can totally dig. I think im gonna buy this one since the replay value seems high--there are a ton of side missions to complete and collectables to find to prevent it from getting stale. But the best part of the game is easily the movement. I just unlocked the electrical hover ability, which chained with the powerline grind, makes cruising the city via rooftops a blast. All open world games should have such freedom of movement, Niko and Spiderman be damned.

These guys hired me to kill a boss for them.
I ran with these 30-40s as their healer. One guy needed crystals.
Shared quest with some bros to finish a really hard fucking quest.
^ As you can see, we are all 25+ level and still need a 46 to help us. And we almost died beating him. Motherfucking boss does 5k per hit and becomes invincible at times. Took everything we had. By the end my mana was nill because I was trying to keep everyone alive. Mixed in with DPS-ing for 1.2k per.

It is very much a WoW clone. With a few improvements to the interface, a very robust Macro system, Free 2 Play, flexible Addon scripts, on the fly NPC look up, an ingame CCG, guilds (+G wars/raids/GvG) and custom doll options, free player housing and mounts at level 1.
Here is what I had to say on LOPP in response to WP64's Q:
QUOTE ("Damo Suzuki")
Its like WoW but free. To make money, the developers sell items for real money that save you time from grinding.
For instance, I can spend 2 days farming Iron Ore to turn into a weapon. But the Cash Shop sells the weapon already made for $5US.
I don't have to buy the weapon and can just spend the time mining the right components. But by offering time savers at relatively low cost, the developers actually make more money than WoW per account. Because people are willing to keep buying stuff @ $5/per to save time. Over time, it adds up.
Micro-transactions are a good fiance system. It lets freeloaders play for free. However, those who don't mind spending an extra $5 occasionally can keep pace without a huge time investment (my WoW & Age of Conan turnoffs). But the quests rewards do let you keep pace. They simply require friends to complete.
Another way of looking at it is as "choose your own subscription". Pay according to what enhances your enjoyment.
I've only jumped on in the last 3 weeks. Playing casually. Its not too addictive. Since I jumped servers (didn't like my first toons) and amassed a friends list it's def. become more fun. At first I was just doing quests lazily. Once I got with a few groups, we were running through dungeons, cracking jokes and killing everything in sight. It became more and more fun. I was able to go up in levels quicker and thus able to get into more groups for higher & higher leveled quests and rewards. Really fun.
To date I have only spent $4US, about 30 hrs of gameplay and have kept pace w/ my mates.
Also by having friends, you can reduce the grind even further.
For example, the process of creating potions is time consuming. But my mate is an expert alchemist in the game.
In order to stay an expert he has to keep making potions. He sells the good stuff for 5k gold in the auction house and kicks back the stuff he doesn't need to his mates (me!). Because he is so high level his potions are insane for lower level players.
I, in turn, can use, sell or hand those potions down. We are all helped in the process. Lady Sin gave me tons of items last night (+1 level for me in 20 minutes), a bro named Maximus killed a boss for me in exchange for 14 extra runes I had about (another +1 level) and another mate gave me 16 (!!) fusion stones to level my weapon and sell for $4k a piece!
3 levels in 1 1/2 hrs of play while garnering allies at the price of a few jokes and in game items.
Having a blast.
QUOTE ("Damo Suzuki")
Yes. There is a gold (in game currency) for diamonds (purchased w/ real $) trading system, both ways. 1 Diamond ($5 = 100 diamonds) for +50k gold and vice versa. As well as item auctioning for both gold and diamonds, diamond loans, ruby loans, gold farming, material farming, material for gold/diamond/rubies, mercenary outfits (kill for GP/Dia/Rub), toon selling, GP/Dia/Rub for crafting ability (Say I don't want to craft, I can pay someone who can craft) and all the usual stuff.
But the game was designed to work with these ancillary player markets. Not against as in subscription MMOs. Because they have no need to keep you paying monthly, just per item should you choose.

Epic raids and dungeon runs w/ my guild these past few nights. To the point where FPS dropped to like 2/s.
But we had so much fun!
^^ We ran through Forsaken Abbey twice trying to get crystals and Nemesis of the Undead honorifics. Only got the crystals. We were just destroying everything in that place. Cass, our tank, was was tanking bosses with millions of HP. While the Priests (Thin Lizzy & Ibuffyoulongtime) kept her and everyone else alive. Our mages laid down so much AoE that we just walked through the place.
^^ And then our MASSIVE raid to take out the Demon Plant. 3 different groups had went out looking for Joby. In order to spawn the boss you have to kill minions for 2-3 hours. Then the boss spawns. I was in the second group that went out to kill minions. We went at it near the Necropolis of Mirrors for about an 1 1/2. Then another group relieved us. An hour later, after the third group went out, the 3rd group announced Joby was up. All members in the area assembled like the goddamn Avengers and destroyed the boss in about 5 minutes.
There are actually more mages, priests, scouts and rouges out of the screen sot. They're up on the hills raining down fireballs, rising tides, arrows and poison knives upon Joby.
(performance dropped way off for me during the fracas.)

I just finished the Force Unleashed on Wii. The playability of the game was average at best...for all the supposedly cool moves you can master, you end up flailing/button mashing your way through. The story was enjoyable, though....at least as good as the prequel stuff, and seeing the formation of the rebel alliance was great.
Just started Wario Shake-It, which is silly and fun so far, and brings back fond memories of 2D platform games like the original Super Mario Bros.

Seconded. Game is awesome. Best open world action type game I've ever played, including GTA. It's like if GTA games were more streamlined with better actual gameplay (combat, movement, etc.)
There's a really good blend of making you feel powerful as hell while also giving you quite a fucking challenge. Sure, you can take a hit from a rocket and live to tell about it (barely), only problem is there's three guys shooting rockets at you with deadly accuracy simultaneously. The cover system works really well, it's easy to execute sweet strings of cool electrically-charged attacks. Exploring the city and nabbing the collectables is a blast. The platforming is a fucking blast.
The controls can get a bit glitchy in parts, but it never really detracts from the game at all.
If you own a PS3 and never get around to playing Infamous, you are an idiot.
